Bought this on the recommendation of the SA at Ulta. She gave me a choice of this and Peter Thomas Roth's mattifier, I chose this b/c of the SPF.
Epic FAIL!! I used this to last night and then again this morning. I was horrified to see my pores on my cheek extremely pronounced! Looked like pits in my cheek. Well I washed my face, but it was too late... my entire face broke out in hives and welts by the end of the day. If can make myself presentable tomorrow... it's going back to the store... PRONTO!!

just bought this on saturday. clinique discontinued the oil control gel that i have been using for almost 8 years! ugh. i heard the murad mattifier was great and i was desperate, so i paid the $40. they do give you a lot of product though.

so far, i've worn this twice. once to party that sat night and then the next day for some outdoor shopping/outdoor dinner plans. i am a matte freak because i am so oily. i wore makeup for ever's mat velvet + with it. i really really like this! sat night i was partying for a good six hours and i almost died when i came home and my face was still completely shine free! AMAZING! even the next day, i used my revlon colorstay with it, and it kept me reasonably matte for almost 10 hours! i think i blotted once! usually i stay far away from spf because it makes me break out but thank god i had some on my face. i was outside a lot that day and i got some great color but no burn! yay!

when you first touch this, you wont believe that it can control oil. it's very thick (a lot like glue) and it spreads on a bit thick. the key is just to rub it in WELL and give it a few minutes to soak in. i don't think i've broken out from this yet either. because of the price, i'll probably just use it for nights out. defintely not everyday. but i'm pretty happy with this and i think i have found my clinique replacement!

I've been searching for some kind of mattifier forever it seems. I have such oily skin and look like an oil slick by the end of the day. The SA suggested this for me and I was a little put off by the price, but was willing to give it a try anyway. I tried it a couple times in different combination with the rest of my slew of products and unfortunately could not make this work for me. I didn't see any difference in oil control and I think it made me actually start breaking out a little. Needless to say, back to the store it went. I hate that because it seems like it worked for so many on here. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I just ordered one asap, after using the sample I got from Sephora.
Blew me away 'cause it kept my face smooth and makeup stay on all day~ Really.
So currently I use this with Hourglass tinted moisturizer.

All my primers are a joke comparing to this. The only thing is that it smells and has the consistency of Elmers glue. Seriously. Totally recommend to those with super oily, acne prone face like me. It is one of those items that makes me feel like, 'where have you been all my life?" : )

When I first started using this (a couple years ago), I thought it was okay. I didn't like the thick consistency, which I believe is due to the sunscreen. I have very oily skin, so I still have to blot a few times a day when using this moisturizer. I have tried multiple "oil control moisturizers" with lighter consistencies and different textures, but none of them even came close to the mattifying effect that Murad has. I always went back to this mattifier! I guess I never really appreciated it until I tried other moisturizers, but now I know. I'll never stray again!

LOOOVE!!! I've had this product for a few months now and i bought it on a whim when i was at sephora. I tied it at first and wasn't very impressed so i let in sit in my dresser drawer for a while and forgot about. I found it recently and started using it again. I don't use it as just a moisturizer because i feel like it's too thick and i don't like the way it feels on my face alone. I wash my face then use my moisturizer and dab this mattifier on where i need it so pretty much just on my t-zone. Its also a great way to save product since its quite pricey ;) I have tried it alone and i find that it does a better job for me after i've applied moisturizer, maybe this is just because its still cold weather. we'll see how it holds up in the summer.

Update: I like it alone in the summer months :) it still working nicely. my skin isnt as oily throughout the day.

This is my first review on MUA. I have oily combination skin and have tried so many brands to control the oilies through out the day. After unsuccesfully trialing clinique, decleor and lancome, I had settled on The Body Shops Tea Tree oil, which I do love but was slightly concerned that it had no sunscreen. I eventually bought Murad, and it's the best moisturiser I have used. It does smell a little funky and isn't the easiest to rub into the skin, but the results are fantastic, and really, the smell disappears seconds after its absorbed and the fingers could use a little work out. Over all my skin doesn't get oily at all now, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who gets shiny.

I tried this today under makeup, and while it makes a good primer (foundation goes on smoothly), it's certainly not something that can do double duty as a daily moisturizer AND a primer/mattifier. On my combo skin, I needed another moisturizer in combination with this to feel properly moisturized all over my face. If you're EXTREMELY oily overall, this is probably a great moisturizer/primer for you, but it just didn't work for my skin type unfortunately. It did keep the oilies away, though! My t-zone was nice and matte all day.

this stuff is a godsend for me. I have such incredibly oily skin that literally a half hour after doing my makeup I can use up an entire blotting sheet. that is, I did until I started using this. it makes my makeup last sooo long. I put it on after washing my skin, and let it sink in for several minutes before putting on my makeup. after a couple of months, it hasn't stopped working either, which has happened with other products before. it is pretty expensive, but a tube lasts me about 4 months, and I use it almost every day, which comes out to cents a day. totally worth it.

LOVE THIS! mattified my skin and reduces redness from acne.

I wish i could wear this at night since it calms the redness but it doesn't feel like it moisturizes my skin enough for night time.

LOVE this primer! I have really oily skin and I wear a primer everyday, this product is so light and make my foundation application effortless! The staying power is about 90% and I only have to touch up my makeup once a day in a 12 hour period.

I've been using this for about 3 months now and can say that it truly does work as a oil control primer for me. I use it over my moisturizing gel and it really does a great job of keeping my oily skin in check. I used to have to blot every few hours but when I use this I literally only have to blot around my nose at the end of day. It can be expensive; but I was able to purchase it off ebay for a fraction of the cost. Highly recommend for oily skin!

I didn't at first know how exactly to use this product. So it was just lying in my makeup kit. Then one day, I ran out of primer... and I thought oh well, I should just try this one. I put it on my face - dotted it on my face and blended it in, just used my fingers. I used revlon colorstay after 20 seconds and then set it with a powder. My face is pretty oily and usually by the end of the day, you can see my pores - just so disgusting. But this - I can't even begin to tell you how great it makes me look even at the end of the day! Holds your makeup for even 12 hours!! And by the end of the day, just like another reviewer said, my skin looks dewy, and super smooth, considering the pores and acne scars I have..! I will buy it even at full price. I love it so much now. HG primer. Truly. It stayed put even on a 40 degree Celcius day!! I was outdoor alot and still didnt budge. Would be wrong to ask for more.

So being in Canada, and since this product is not available here, I ordered it off eBay. I have oily skin, and I have been using the Boots Velvet Touch primer with ok results (I still had to blot every 3 hours or so).
I was hoping this Murad primer will work wonders on me too, especially since I'm oily but not overly so.
After wearing it for 3 days, I can say I am not impressed at all, unfortunately. It doesn't keep my face matte for longer than my other primer, I still have to blot every 3 hours... I do like the way it applies and I don't think it smells that bad, I find it easy to spread and it sinks in fast and mattifies nicely for a while, but I still get as oily as before. After I blot my face does look more matte than with my old primer, but also more powdery, until it looks shiny again.
I will not repurchase but I will keep using it until I finish it because it's not a bad product by any means. However I had better results with Smashbox mattifier, which is also readily available where I live.

This gets five stars because I have never gotten a primer to do what this does for the length of time it does it. I have tested this for a week and after a ten hour day on my very oily skin, my makeup has not melted off. I have to blot, but not much, and my makeup does not budge. Usually, with every other primer I have tried, after 5 or 6 hours I just look terrible. The makeup has broken up and is in spots on my face. This controls oil beautifully for a good 4-5 hours and after that I am looking slightly dewy with a beautiful, even complexion. When I first applied it, I was scared by the elmer's glue texture, but no big deal once you get used to it and I haven't had any breakouts or irritation (both of which I am prone to). Foundation adheres to and applies to this primer on your skin very nicely. Try a sample if you are looking for this type of product. You can find this on sale at many websites, don't buy it full price.

This is no good. I wanted this to be my miracle product, but it's not. I was looking for something that would help with oils and would keep me looking matte longer. The texture of this is sort of wierd for something that is supposed to help control oil. It is sort of sticky/tacky and thick, like glue. (it also smells like glue, but who cares about that, right?) So, I usually start to get some oilies shining through about two hours after applying my makeup. With this I might've gone maybe an hour longer. So, that wasn't much of an improvement. I returned this, and would not reccomend to anyone. On to the next!

I love this product cause it really does control your sebum excess production longer than any other product i previously used. For a guy its really hard to find something good. I used Clinique oil control for men and i was happy with it but it got discontinued so i searched for replacement and found my perfect every day cream.

I have very oily skin, especially in the t-zone area, but using this product helped control oil for the entire day, without having to retouch/blot at all.

I have tried numerous primers (both high-end and drugstore brands) and none of them has worked for me as well as this Murad one has. The product has a sticky (almost glue-like) consistency so make sure to apply only a sheer amount, to prevent the foundation from caking. Also moisturize the skin prior to applying this mattifier, to make sure the product blends in to your skin well, and not just create a thick mask. However, for extra long wear and moisturizing effects, I would usually apply another layer of primer (hydrating primer) after I Murad mattifier and before foundation.

This product does not make me breakout at all. The only con is the slight sting in the smell, but once you get used to it, you'll be fine. Other than that, there really isn't much I can complain about this product. I have in fact received numerous compliments on how I was able to make my foundation stay so long, and not blot at all.

I don't usually write reviews, but for this product, I feel that it is really worth recommending to all the others out there who are still having problems with making your foundation stay on oily skin. In fact, I have already recommended this to my friend and she has asked me to purchase it for her when I visit US again. I do admit that the price is a bit high, but for 1.7fl.oz (50ml), it is a good price, compared to most high-end primers that are only 1oz (30ml) per bottle/tube. I got mine from eBay at about $10 less than the retail price in Sephora. If you're interested, this product is definitely worth a try, and yeah, don't forget to check out eBay first before you decide to buy in the mall or in retail makeup stores. Yes, I don't live in the US, so getting this product can be a problem for me, so for those lucky ones living in US, don't miss out on this great opportunity ;)

I hope my review has helped you know more about this product. Thanks for reading! =)

first off, I got this as a sample, so I'm not sure on the price or the packaging... but let me tell ya, I hate this product... I tried it twice and the application of this product is horrible, it looks and feels like elmer's school glue. It's incredibly thick, and almost paste like. When it goes on it doesn't blend easily, I feel like I have to smear it instead of blending it. Then after finally getting it all over where it has to go, it stays white, and it doesn't blend into my skin, which makes my pale skin just look paler. Then once I actually put my foundation on, it looks cakey. It doesn't stop the oil, but adheres to my foundation like no other, and forms this kind of mask... then after a few hours the mask gets little cracks in it. Its just bad... oh and I forgot to mention... it smells like glue too... all in all i'm sure I couldve had better results with glue then this product.
