This product is very similar to Clarins "Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch". Both have a vegetable shortening-like texture which may or may not be a good thing. Clarins actually has shortening in the ingredients! Magic Perfecting base however does not contain shortening but instead contains silica. I was afraid this would turn me into a grease ball like Clarins did but it keeps me matte for a while. I don't think that it does a good job of color correcting but it does smooth out the skin's texture, especially around the nose and cheeks. If you are very oily I don't think this would last very long. If you have normal skin this would be perfect. Dry skin also might work. Overall, this is a good product but nothing special.

I don't get it. This did nothing at all for me and I feel like it makes my skin look ashy even after foundation is applied. Did NOT hide dark circles like in ad, not even a little. Make up didn't last longer, pores look the same, nothing. I do have oily skin (though that shouldn't matter to under eye circles/lines - skin not oily there), so maybe this works for other skin types? And I hate digging my finger in the pot!
Update: I keep trying this since it works for so many and I can't take it back ... I do think it helps my foundation last a little longer but still not the miracle other people are experiencing.

I'm really diggin' this primer. I've have different primers from Smashbox, UD, Benefit, but this one I seem to reach for more. I love its texture. Its velvety and thicker in consistancy and I really like how it just glides over your skin. It seems to help keep my makeup in place. So all in all, I would def recommend this!

Just got a sample and I'll post after wearing for a day but I wanted to add that this month's Vogue has a little free sample packet inside, plus the $2.00 coupon mentioned below.

I love this primer. I've tried primers from Smashbox, Korres, MAC, Clear FX, and Urban Decay. Surprisingly this one works the best. I have pretty oily skin. I still have to use blot powder once or twice throughout the day. But this makes my foundation go on like a dream. It covers all of my larger pores and makes my foundation last all day long! Awesome stuff! I highly recommend this to everyone! And if you pick up this month's InStyle magazine there is a coupon for 2.00 off! Only thing I don't like about this primer is the packaging. Hate that it is in a pot. L'oreal please use a tube. :)

I was hearing so much hype about this product and I finally purchased it and when I tried it, I was satisfied with the perfecting that it did but when I went to put my Mineral Powder Foundation on it didn't work together! I would not purchase this product if you wear a Mineral Powder Foundation because it doesn't let your natural oils get to the powder! It would work very nicely with Liquid Foundations!!

Before reviewing this product, understand that I only use this as a base for underneath my eyes. I have not used it on my entire face since I have a MUFE primer that works for me so I have no need of changing that. I bought this because I needed a product that would not clump my concealer under my eyes. I used my UDPP and my concealer would look so clumpy. If I used nothing under my eyes, the concealer would sink into my lines and I'd have to constantly smooth it out. But when I use this base underneath my eyes, the concealer goes on smooth and after I set it with powder it lasts all day. I use very very little as this is very creamy. I just dab my finger in the jar, you don't have to pack it on. So for me, this will last me a long time since I only use it for under eyes and therefore I rated it a 5 since I would repurchase.

Good for people with good skin and some scarring. I have adult acne and tried this for 3 days. Started to get acne cysts so I stopped using this asap. I don't use primer unless I have to, but to me the price was good but the product is bad for acne prone skin.

I had a sample of this from a magazine. I used it and it broke me out really bad. I'm glad I did not buy the full size.
Although texture feels nice a little on the thick side but spreadable. Too bad I wanted to like this.

I have used this product a few times and so far I am very satisfied. I like the feel of my skin and the way my make-up looks after using this base.
Update: I barely reach for this now, I don't like the thickness of it and the packaging is inconvenient for me.

I finally found a primer that doesn't clog my pores too bad. EVERYTHING I use clogs my pores, which is why at 52 I can't use a lot of anti-aging moisturizers (boo!). I don't mind the jar too much, I wash my hands and fingers constantly so I don't feel like I am contaminating it. Keeps my oil at bay most of the day and I like the way it evens out my blotchy skin.

I suffer from moderate adult acne and my face has a few red patches, so I was hoping that this primer would even out my skin tone. Well, it did that successfully, but it did not make for a very smooth primer. When I did my usual routine of applying concealer and face powder, the powder caked on, which it doesn't usually do. Also, the primer felt thick and heavy on my face, like a mask. Its heavy texture almost guarantees that my skin will break out. I will definitely not be using this product again. Luckily, I did not have to pay the exorbitant $13 price tag for it, as I got it as a free sample in a women's magazine insert.

it's very thick and pastey, yet soft at the same time. It does make for an even skin tone and hide some pores, but it's hard for me to get used to the mask- like feel. Here are some that I like more, chanel le blanc de chanel and clinique pore minimizer. I do look forward to trying more from this line in the future and I do think the price is very reasonable.

I really wanted to like this but unfortunately, it broke me out like no other product has before. And I don't have sensitive skin!! Will NOT buy again.

Did not do as claimed, my pores remained the same. Made no difference in makeup application. Packaging was not very hygenic, and pricewise expensive, for such a small ammount.

I first got this product because I have very large pores, since im in treatment for acne my face is some days very very oily others very dry so and my pores seem to be opening more and more everyday so I got this to fill in my pores and also because Im starting to see some very fine lines under my eyes.
This product does help with my oily/ dry skin and also my make up stays longer however it does not do anything for my fine lines. It does make my skin feel silky and smooth since im not breaking out as much.
Over all I like this product even thought I think is a little high for a Drug Store. I paid around $6.00 (I used a coupon that I got in the mail & a coupon from CVS)
So even thought I didn't pay full price the price for me is high.
I would consider buying this product again because I do like it, its not my HG Primer but its good.

This $13 product is going back to CVS today. When L'Oreal introduced the Studio Secrets line, it introduced a traditional pump-style primer and this base. It promises to "Smooth lines, banish imperfections, hide pores." I don't have an issue with pores and it might live up to that promise -- the only reason I'm not giving this just one lippie -- but it did not perform on the first two.
This is a very heavy cream, despite the package description of it as a "silky, lightweight formula." It feels almost like a mask and actually made my skintone somewhat lighter, throwing off my foundation shade. It did not help my foundation to stay on any longer than usual.
The directions are: "Smooth on in a gentle circular motion over the whole face or targeted areas." I used it on my whole face. Some have mentioned breakouts, so here are the ingredients:
Cyclohexasiloxane, dimethicone, dimethicone/vinyl dimethicone crosspolymer, silica, acrylates copolymer, disodium stearoyl glutamate, aluminum hydroxide (May contain: CI 77891, titanium dioxide, CI 77491, iron oxides)
I though it might bother my skin because of some of those ingredients, but it did not. However, it did not even approach giving me a better finish and that's what I expected it to do.

I dont really use primers because I believe my skincare routine and moisturiser helps in applying flawless makeup. However I do suffer from large pores and the occasional breakouts and this primer really helps smooth everything out making the skin the perfect base to apply foundation.
I only apply this on the areas I need the extra help and makeup just glides over the surface! This is a silicon primer which I believe makes it really good for resurfacing skin and covering pores.
Initial thoughts where the jar wasnt very hygienic, its glass and its a bit pricey for a small jar. However it does last a long time as you only need very little at a time and soon as I touched it, it was soft, bouncy and & pink! Its like cute marshmallow in a little pot, the consistency is very nice. I have never tried a silicon primer before so bare with me. lol
Anyways I love this stuff and its makes my face flawless when its far from it.
