This powder is wonderful! It is talc/nylon based but it is very finely milled and has some treatment ingredients (lysine, magnesium, boron) as well as mineral pigments. It is not totally matte and it gives the perfect satin/matte finish. It has a faint fresh scent to it. The powder does even out the skin tone and has minimal coverage. I wear this on my skin and nothing else on many days. The nylon really allows the powder to adhere to the skin and keeps you fresh for the whole day. It is pricey ($52 for 30g) but considering how long it lasts it's worth it; the jar is HUGE. Keeping that in mind my sales lady gave me 2 extra puffs to have on hand because I find that washing the puff really does not work. I plan to replace it every few months. If you wear powder every day and you want something more luxurious give this a try! Side note: The sifter can be lifted up and the jar can be refilled later on if you want to save your beautiful jar for some other powders in your collection.

I'm a PPP, so I bought the Clair, which is Translucent 1. I have dry skin with neutral to pink undertones. This powder is fantastic; I love it! It creates a beautiful halo effect on your face and it effectively mattifies my foundation. I highly recommend this powder. I use it in the T-area after applying my Laura Geller Fair balance and brighten. Your skin will look flawless!

I use the Clair - I use the lightest shade in Chanel powder foundations, and Clair is a great match. The powder is very finely milled, and silky to the touch, making it ideal to set makeup. It's not a heavy powder. If you're looking something more opaque and heavier, I'd suggest Nars loose powder.

I love love this loose powder and it stays put for such a long time. It's super silky and soft too. AND it lasts a long time! It lasted me for about 2 years of daily use.
I have it's puff and it's smell though. eeyyk!
I wouldn't purchase again because there are probably other products that have the same quality but cheaper, and does not smell icky!

Super silky finish and adds a beautiful glow, however the LIGHT is just too light for my skin color, and the next shade down was too dark, and I'm not up for trying to mix loose powder to make a match!

I have clear normal to dry skin and have been using this for 10 years.
This is one of my favourite HG loose powders.
I’ve tried it in the translucent and natural shade and find both work well with my yellow undertoned skin.
The powder is soft and super fine that it glides on the skin feeling weightless, smooth and breathable.
It provides a light to medium coverage and flawless matte finish and leaves my skin with an even, and natural complexion. Also, it manages to enhance my paleness without making me look washed out or ghostly. In fact, it somehow makes me look healthier and more ethereal at the same time without looking cakey. I’m really pleased with how it sets my liquid foundation perfectly when applied with the puff it comes with or a powder brush. Unlike most loose powders, it distributes fairly evenly because it’s so fine.
The powder is ok for my normal to dry skin. It’s not drying as long as it’s applied to a cleansed and moisturised face.
I like the packaging because the perforated inner lid helps keep the powder inside the jar which is practical when travelling and keeping in your handbag.
While this does hold up longer than you would expect most powders to do, I could use a touch up by afternoon. However, I don’t know of any powder that doesn’t need re-applying. Furthermore, although it’s expensive, I will repurchase it again in the future as it’s high quality, a little goes a long way and it lasts a few years.

I've been using this in 20-Clair for about 1 year and I think it is the best loose powder I've ever owned!
My makeup never completes without it. This powder makes my skin look so smooth and flawless.
It gives a matte finish, which lasts almost all day even though my face has some oily areas. No reapplication is needed unless I work out or something!
At first this product seemed pricey but, hey, it would last years since it requires only a small amount to do its job and comes in a pretty good-sized case.
Only one complaint I have with this product, though, is its puff. I don't like its quality compared to that of the powder--its surface is pretty rough (and it worsens when washed), so it not only doesn't feel nice on the face when applied but also doesn't distribute the powder evenly.
So I would recommend using a better puff or a Kabuki brush for this product.
Overall, this is a great and reliable product, and I will definitely buy it again!

Im on my 2nd pot in 8 yrs now.
I use clair on my nw15 skin.
I reuse the puff that comes with the pot untill its washed out.
Then ask for replacements from the chanel counter for free.
IT leaves my skin oilfree and adds a little colour.

Perfection.
I have been wearing it (only on my 2nd jar, they are so full) for 8 years and I will never look back.
As an NW15 I find 20 Clair Translucent 1 a perfect match. It sets and perfects my foundation, whichever I'm wearing at the time.
It feels wonderful going on and never settles into lines or dry patches unless the patches are heinous ones, in which case I rub them down with a washcloth, reapply a dab of foundation and power lightly again.
This power makes my skin feel so darn soft. It is a beautiful thing...

I used to use Shiseido's loose powder until on a whim I bought this chanel one at the airport at a duty free shop. And I'm so glad I did as this powder is truly amazing.
Firstly, it is so fine and gives the skin a beautiful finish. I can use it on its own or over foundation and either way it looks so fresh and natural. I bought color 20 Clair - translucent 1 which is actually a little pale for me. Next time I'll buy a slightly darker colour. Also, I use a large face brush rather than the powder puff as I find it gives a more finer and natural finish.

I absolutely LOVE this product. I've tried BE, but something about it irritated my sensitive skin. I've also tried UD's mineral powder, but the color match just wasn't right and it felt heavy, so I went to Chanel to see if they had the Double Perfection compact and since they didn't, I decided to try their loose powder. I was a little worried that it may not have enough coverage for me and it may not help with my oily skin, but boy I was wrong. The powder is so light in texture, that I don't feel it on my skin and the coverage is pretty good. The best part about this is it was a PERFECT MATCH to my skin tone. It doesn't help control my oily skin too well on it's own, but when I use Chanel's oil control serum and matte foundation, it works wonders!
The price seems a little steep for most, but if you think about it you get 2x the amount, than you'd usually get and it'll last you a very long time.
Oh and it looks GREAT for pictures, since it has those little flecks of reflecting pigments. It makes my skin look so good.

I just got this powder and really love it. I have oily, acne prione skin and it is great for the summer. It keeps my skin matte for awhile-most of the day (with real oily skin it's hard for anyone to keep their skin matte all day) and is light and fluffy. It is expensive ($50 US) but I like it and wear it over the teint innocence cream foundation. This powder is not as silky as say Princess Marcella Borghese (My other favorite) but darn close and I think it's a great choice.

Initially, when I used this product, it looked too flakey; however, when used alone over a moisturizer, it provided a very natural and smooth skin look. The weather has been getting warmer, and this product is doing a much better job at controlling oil by wearing over the teint natural liquid foundation.

This powder lasts forever!! Big jar, gorgeous design, glossy lid and exclusive feel :) Practical perforated inner lid helps keep the powder inside the jar, keeping it off your floor :)
I have dry and sensitive skin, espescially my nose and forehead have a tendency to flake. This powder is OK for dry skin, not great. It enhances the flakiness, but then again every powder will do that I guess... It is very translucent, and I always use it over foundation. The powder alone is not enough to cover me up and give me an even tone. I have the #30 Naturel.

This powder lasts forever! I've been using this powder for a few months now and I'm really pleased with the results. It feels fabulous when you put it on, like the other reviewers, it doesn't accentuate dry or flaky skin (which I'm prone to during the winter). Although its expensive, I will definitely repurchase this powder as I think it's value for money (lasts ages and I know I will use it all). One minor disadvantage, you do need to re-apply in the afternoon, but I've yet to find a powder that you dont have to re-apply.

I was talked into buying this by the lady at the counter, and I'm so glad I did! This powder sits really beautifully-- it doesn't cake like some, and it goes on very subtly, whilst still taking away any oilyness. The packaging is lovely and it lasts for asolutely ages: a great investment!
It manages to enhance my paleness without making me look wan or ghostly. In fact, it somehow makes me look healthier and more ethereal at the same time. Quite a trick! This is good over concealer or alone to give a nice polished, finished appearance. It tones down blotchiness and shine without masking freckles, and doesn't catch on hidden dry spots or turn dark from oily patches. Really just lovely. It costs a bucket, but is sure to last a long time. If I were really wealthy, I would buy a second box to keep at the office, though -- while this does hold up longer than you would expect most powders to do, I could use a touch up by afternoon.

This powder is not that bad, it's not my favourite but it does its job? I paid about $50 CAD for it and for the price it was just *okay* The texture was slightly chalky? a little grainy i don't know why...it's suppose to be super fine milled. When you look inside the tub it there is a little shimmer but when worn you can't see it at all, i was afraid it was gonna make me look shiny. It also stayed pretty matte on my cheeks and chin but my T-zone got oily pretty easily. I bought this in 30Naturel and the color was pretty translucent you could probably go a shade darker it probably wouldn't change ur foundation color. The one thing i did like about this powder is how it felt when worn...it was very light and airy? i didn't feel like i was wearing any powder and also...i reallly like the packaging its nice..and they do give you a generous amount in the tub. It didn't break me out or accent any flakies. It just didn't give me that super soft polished finish, u know? I think i'll stick to my clinique blended loose face powder.
