I have been using Aquaphor for 7 yrs and never thought any thing better would come along. Thanks to the reviews here, I made the purchase a month ago and still love this balm. It leaves my lips soft and conditioned without constant reapplication. I highly rec this product.

This is by far THE BEST lip balm I have ever used! I've tried numerous high-end and drugstore brands and always found something about each that I didn't like, but this is absolutely perfect! It has amazing staying power, makes my lips soooooooo soft, and doesn't irritate the skin around my lips or cause it to break out.

I will repurchase this forever! It is money well spent. And even though it does come in a somewhat inconvenient tub, mine has lasted forever and held up perfectly being tossed around in my purse and packed on many vacations.

I cannot believe how much I love this stuff. I actually ordered this my mistake. I wanted to order the exfoliating treatment but must have hit the wrong button. I am so glad I did. I probably wouldn't have ordered it on my own because it does contain petroleum. But, you know what? I think that is what gives it such lasting power. But it also contains shea butter and wheat germ oil. I think all-naturals balms are great and have their place, but for pure effectivness this is what works for me. As far as packaging, I actually love the tub. I prefer that to stick lip balms.

This lip balm is amazing. It really, really is. My lips have been dying from a combination of cold, new england winter, a dry work environment, and general dehydration. (I work in a lab so its hard to get to drink sometimes.) It was getting pretty gnarly for a while... consistant flakes, cracks.. You get the picture. Vaseline and my favorite minty Biglow glosses were not working at all. So far this keeps my lips soft longer than anything else I've ever tried.. from aquaphor to balmy nights, to Burt's Bees, to everything under the sun. The product is hard initially, but once it's softened up, it has no problem spreading. No flavor except for the ingredients themselves, which is neutral and disappears after absorbtion. I'm not a fan of the tub though. I would prefer a stick form because I do not like digging my fingers into it. I hope that Paula's Choice does that at some point. But as is, it's the best and most consistant lip moisturizer I've ever used.

UPDATE: It has been months and months since I began using this product and I've found it to be a true staple and a hands down holy grail. I have not wanted to use any other lip moisturizer because this is the only product out of the many, many I've tried that does not chunk up, dry out, or become flakey on my lips down the line. It has lasting moisturizing properties and immediately smooths out any dryness without stickiness on my own desert like lips. The only problem was the container, which I still dislike immensely. I actually found myself using this product far less than I would because I disliked toting around that big, bulky thing. It was not pocket friendly at the least! I eventually tried Kiss My Face lip balms because I missed the tube packaging. However, it was no where near as good as the Paula's Choice. SO, I just came across a solution for this container dilemma, which I am absolutely kicking myself for not realizing before! I essentially replaced everything in the Kiss My Face balm tube (which is a great top twist-type tube), with the Paula's Choice!

To do this, first find a lip balm tube of your choice. Empty tubes can be purchased online, but I find this inconvienient as I hate waiting for things in the mail, particularly something this small. The easiest thing is to simply pick up some cheap chap stick or find a tube hanging around. Remove all the product by twisting it up, removing the waxy stick, and twisting the empty back down.

Next, melt the Paula'a Choice Lip Balm in the microwave until clear and liquid. It does not take that long nor should it be HOT. I suggest trying to do it in 10 second intervals (microwaves will vary) until just liquidy, transluscent, and pourable. It will be very much like a melted candle.

Carefully pour it into the stick type tube until just full. If you are using a normal chapstick sized .15oz/4.25g tube, you will have plenty left over as the Paula's Choice comes in a .5oz/15ml container. Enough to fill a couple of tubes, or smaller containers.

Lastly, leave upright until cool and completely solid. I put mine in the freezer for a few minutes to speed up the process. If you try to twist the tube at any point before it is fully hardened, the product will be mushy, less settled in the tube, and unevenly distributed.

Once it's fully hardened, it's ready to go! Slips into my tight jeans like a breeze and is finally accessible! Anyway, I hope this helps some people who also find the lousy container a hindrance to a great product!!

P.S. Just a thought I had directly after posting. You can probably add flavor oils to this while it is in its melted state! Then you can get flavored lip balm from this regular, unflavored/unscented if that is what you would prefer! Also, a candle warmer may also work well to melt this. I haven't tried these ideas yet, but they may be good if it works for someone else!

Wish I could have rated this a 10 !! This is the only, and I mean, the only product I can use on my lips! I am very allergic to the red dye in almost every lipstick. I end up with severely chapped lips and cold sores! I use this at night and my lips are fine in a day or two. Great Product !!

I have had chronically dry lips for ages now and Vaseline just wasn't working on its own. I always found that I had to reapply lipbalm loads of times during the day. I only apply the PC balm at night because I use a sunscreen lipbalm during the day (Bioderma). Since I started using the PC balm I find that my lips are not drying up as much during the day.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this stuff! I use this every night before bed and somehow, my lips are still moisturized when I wake up. I'm not sure how it stays on like that, but after years of using Vaseline, I've found a new HG! And it's not tested on animals, so I can have soft lips and a clear conscience! You do have to dig a bit with your finger to get it out of the tub, but that's a minor inconvenience.

I have very dry lips, and I live in the desert, so I use a lot of this stuff! This is my HG lip balm. It does a great job; however, it's a little too big to throw into a purse, so I use this at home and carry Neutrogena Tinted Lip Balm (or something else) to use during the day. None of the more portable lip balms seem to work as well as this one.

I love this! It's a cross between Vaseline and Chap Stick - not too soft but not too waxy either. It comes in a tub and lasts forever. It provides the perfect amount of moisture and protection for my lips. When I put it on before bed, it lasts the entire night. I've had to repurchase several times because when friends come to visit, they try it and want to take it home with them (which I let them do - otherwise, what kind of hostess would I be?). I'm a fan of most PC products. The price is fair, the packaging is simple and the product works. An added bonus: this product can be used on elbows, cuticles, and other severely dry areas that need immediate help. Try this!

I ordered this balm based on the glowing reviews and was disappointed as soon as I opened it. It resembles a hardened vaseline at first sight; I assumed that I had just wasted my money. Fortunately, my first impression was incorrect. Although PC's lip and body balm could be mistaken for hard vaseline, it is much more moisturizing than any other petroleum based product that I've tried. I only need apply a thin layer to my lips in order to relieve myself of dryness and peeling. There's no obnoxious smell and very little shine. I've had zero breakouts associated with it during the month that I've used it.

My one gripe is the packaging. It seems like this has the perfect consistency to be in tube form, yet PC chose to to package the balm in a tub. It's also expensive.

For reference, my two other favorite lip balms are Prada and Aquaphor. PC's balm is more cosmetically elegant than Aquaphor and not as thick and creamy as Prada's.

UPDATE: 8/1/07 This is still a staple for me. I use it daily. For overnight winter use, I prefer Gatineau Electelle Beautifying Lip Care, applied in a very thick layer. Even then, I use the PC Lip Balm throughout the day. Hope PC continues making this forever!

This is my HG lip balm. I buy it in bulk when PC has free shipping.

DESCRIPTION: A plain, thick, unscented, unflavored, translucent yellowish balm packed in a small tub. In the pot, it looks and feels like a soft wax mixed with oil. On the lips, invisible, except for a nice sheen (like a thin layer of vaseline would leave).

PROS: Lasts on lips for hours, even through eating/drinking. Highly protective against the elements (even in a cold New England winter). Beautifully softens the lips, and keeps them well hydrated. I have chronically dry, chapped, cracked lips; this balm heals them overnight and maintains them in great condition if I apply a few times a day in winter. Works much better, IMO, than vaseline, aquaphor, or any other I've tried.

CONS: The packaging. You have to stick your finger in the jar every time you apply -- messy and unsanitary. It's impractial to carry in your purse. When first opened, the balm is pretty stiff and hard to get out onto your finger. It does soften up considerably after a couple of uses (and the jar I keep on my kitchen counter, under fairly warm recessed lights, stays nice and soft).

This balm is excellent. My lips are very dry and I only use glossy lipsticks. If I don't use it, my lipstick does not apply smoothly. I use it before I go to bed at night and I can still feel that it's on in the morning. I only use it in the winter.

I think this is an excellent lip balm. I only use it at night (I wear lipstick during the day), but that is enough to keep my lips moisturized and to prevent them from peeling. I love the fact that it is unscented and not goopy or sticky (in contrast to many other potted lip balms, such as The Body Shop Born Lippy). My only complaint is that I wish it came in stick form instead of a pot; then it would be perfect! Ingredients: Castor Seed Oil, Petrolatum, Candelilla Wax, Lanolin, C10-30 Cholesterol/Lanosterol Esters, Beeswax, Ozokerite, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Carnauba Wax, Shea Butter, Jojoba Esters, Wheat Germ Oil, Bisbolol, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Trihydroxystearin, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene.

Guess I'm particular when it comes to lip balms but this one just doesn't cut it. It doesn't have any staying power - at least for me, it doesn't. I also didn't find it moisturizing. In fact, my lips felt more chapped after using this. It's disappointing since this had such great reviews. I was sure it would be a winner. It's back to Aquaphor and Jack Black for me.

The best lip treatment I've used--I recommend trying it if you have badly chapped lips for which nothing else has worked. I have suffered from terribly parched, peeling, cracked, bleeding lips since I moved to an arid climate. I constantly drink water, which can further dry my lips. It seems that some things work for a while, but then dry my lips out more. I've tried Carmex, Vaseline, Aquaphor, Rose Salve, Blistex, Chapstick. . .the list goes on. I was ready to shell out for Nuxe, but decided to give this a try, and I'm glad I did. This stuff healed my lips within a couple days. I put it on at night before bed and it stays on all night. Then in the morning after my shower, I exfoliate my lips by rubbing with a towel, and then put on this lip balm, and I don't have to reapply for the rest of the day usually. My lips look normal, soft, and have none of the problems I had before. I've had really bad reviews of some other PC products, but I'm about to order my second tub of this stuff.

If you are looking for a thick lip balm that has really good lasting power (even overnight!) and does not have any weird tastes, then this is a great product! I've been using this along with PC's exfoliating treatment and my lips are much smoother and less dry. After I am done with this product I would like to try BeatiControl's "Lip Apeel" just to compare them to see which I'll keep as my staple lip exfoliant treatment and lip balm combination.

The only thing that I am still looking for as far as a lip product (and I don't think just a lip balm would solve this)is something that can reduce some of the vertical lines that I am starting to form around my lips at the age of 24! I am not a smoker or sun worshipper so I shouldn't have them! If anyone has any tips or product suggestions PLEASE contact me! I can use any advice on preventing these lines from becoming prominent. Most people tell me that they don't even notice them on me but I see them especially when I wear darker lipsticks b/c the lipstick would bleed into these dreadful lines. Help!

This is not bad. It moisturizes good enough, but I prefer Mac's lip conditioner. It is easier to get Mac lip conditioner as well. My last parcel from Paula got lost, so they had to mail another. It was about 8 weeks before I had my products. I won't purchase this again.
