I purchased this after seeing it used backstage at fashion week... It seemed that every stylist had it in their kit, even when the shows were sponsored by hair product companies. It holds a curl in my hair which is usually an issue. I can brush it out and it just feels like my hair is naturally that way, and it stays for days until I wash it. I love it.
And most of the complaints here are about the smell... It's not that bad. The smell barely lingers on your hair anyway.

Works well enough, but it smells awful. (Like old lady perfume) I don't know if other people near me can smell it, but if I use it in the morning I will smell it the entire day.

The coloured hair version supplies soft but lasting hold without stickiness or residue. Less fond of other versions: supreme hold too potent, for example.

I had heard sooo many good things about this hairspray from magazines and beauty editors. It became a cult product I was dying to try. I can honestly say it is overrated.
The smell didn't bother me too much... I kind of think all hairsprays smell bad lol. The bottle was really neat and vintage looking.
The reason I hate this is because it makes my hair super frizzy. When i use a curling iron or rollers, my hair will look fantastic until i spray on Elnett. Instant frizz and dry straw texture. I don't even think the hold is that great... My curls droop
In about an hour. I tried to give it to my mom but she says it gives her white flakes. She gave it back to me and I now have half a bottle of this crap sitting in my bathroom gathering dust.
My mom and I both now use Tresseme Tres Two and are very happy about it.

*EPIC FAIL*
I hate that it smells like aqua net. It literally makes me choke and cough every time I use it. Can't get over how horrible it smells.
Also, this hairspray really does nothing...at all It does not hold my hair in the slightest bit.
I also hate that it's so darn expensive! I paid almost $16.00 for this at Rite Aid when it's really worth $2.00. I've used better drugstore sprays that have cost a fraction of this price.
Don't buy - there's much better products out there.

while I do like the fine mist, and how light it feels, that's about as far as it goes.. it's the worst smelling hairspray I have ever encountered :( I actually require a more 'heavy duty' hairspray. so I bought another kind. I have had my bottle for a while, and I just now realized subconciously I haven't been using it as much probably because of the smell! it follows me in my car or wherever I go :( and stays in the bathroom for HOURS. I can see how some like it though.. I was just really excited to try this based on the hype in the magazines before it came out.. I hear the european version is much better :|

To begin with, the product we buy in the US is different from the one sold in Europe due to restrictions on some of the European ingredients (VOCs?).
I think the only other hairspray that comes close to this is Shaper by Sebastian. Elnett leaves a weightless hold and really can be brushed through. The can is fabulously camp-glam and I LOVE the smell of it! I've never used the US product so I have to assume the smell of the US product is different based on the reviews. In Europe, the smell is half the reason people buy it!
If you find yourself in Europe, buy this by the case. If only because you can resell the European formula for like $30+ a can!

Honestly you guys complain too much. The smell isn't that bad. Spray it in a different room or a different part of the same room, then go to the other room/other part.
I live in NYC where it is rarely below 30% humidity (it jumps all over the place between 50-90%), and I have medium textured very curly hair. This keeps it straight between 3 and 7 hours after I flatiron it (depending on the humidity). Then I just touch it up the next day or wash my hair or whatever.

AWFUL AWFUL product, smells VILE. I cannot understand why this product has such a hype surrounding it. It makes me think of old ladies, not in a bad way, just that modern hairsprays should smell nice. I wouldn't mind it was a fabulous hairspray but there are soo many others out there that smell nice and have a better hold. I think this product is so popular as so many celebrities endorse it, hence they are paid to use it.

Is it just me or does this stuff smell like poop? Ew...and it doesn't live up to the hype...so the poop smell is not worth it. It makes me gag. I'd much rather keep using Bed Head Massive Shine...it's about the same price, works better, and smells delicious. Worth it. I really wanted to like this, and all of that ended the first time I sprayed it. Bleh.

This is not one of my most favourite hairsprays. It smells really bad for a start, but I thought I had to give it the benefit of the doubt before writing it off just because it smelled so nasty. Anyway, I have really thick hair that I like to straighten because natural it just looks so bad but I have to use hairspray to stop it from curling up at the ends. This hairspray did literally nothing, no matter how much I used it. Not worth it and a total waste of time. Wouldn't buy and again nor recommend.

If you look closely at photos taken backstage at fashion shows or fashion shoots, you will almost always see a can of this hairspray. It's what the pros use, and they use it because it's the best. It offers superior hold and shine without any stickiness or crunchiness. I use a lot of it to slick my hair back into a ponytail or a little misted all over to set my straight style or keep my waves in check, if I'm going au naturel. Fabulous stuff. Just wish the bottle wasn't so prone to clogging!

I have medium-thick curly hair, when I straighten my hair it always tends to curl. I've tried almost everything and some stuff work, some don't I bought this based on a advertisement. And it said ‘disappears at the stroke of a brush’ I rarely use hairspray cause I hear it dries out your hair and when I use it it doesn’t do much. So I wasn’t expecting much out of this. BUT THIS IS A KEEPER!!! My hair stayed straight all day. Even in humidity!! The only thing that worked on my hair! Or showed a big improvement. I read the reviews the same day since I loved it so much everyone complained about the smell of it, I personally like it. It’s like a baby powder smell. When ever I use it I feel like I’m in the 60’s cause of the smell. And it doesn’t leave my hair hard, it’s kind of soft.

I really have to come to the defense of this hairspray, maybe other countries have a different formulation, but here in the UK it smells just like every other hairspray to me. It has a lovely fine spray and I've been using it for years and really have no problem with the smell, it does have a smell, but I find it wears off very quickly (I am actually quite sensitive to even mild smells)

I paid AUS$10 which is expensive for a priceline/drugstore hairspray, so i thought it was quite expensive in this sense. Knowing you can buy $6 hard hold laquers from the hair dressers that are the same hold as this with 25% more product too, then you can actually call this hair spray expensive.
the packaging is great. i love the smaller circular tube as its easy to hiold in my hand made out of aluminium or whatever those cans are made out of. the mist is very fine when it is sprayed.
i found this product did have a strong smell. and it did smell like 1960's hairspray to an extent. the smell stayed in my room for a while and in my hair too, but i found that over time (about 2 hours) it faded and wasnt as strong. i dont actually mind the smell after the 2 hour mark, but i dont like having to wait that long for it to subside.
the hold is great. if applied correctly, it gives you great hold and volume in the roots ad adds shine (which i dont like in the root personally, but in the ends i do like it) it is extra strong hold; it holds my curls great.
ia m a fan of this hairspray (the hold and the fine mist and packaging) but the smell turns me off so much that id rather just buy something else.

L'oreal should really market this as a combination appetite suppressant and hairspray. It smells so horrid, and yes, the smell clings to (the room you sprayed it in, your hair) so that as you move throughout the day, more will release from your hair. Yes, it does get subdued after a few hours. I am thankful I only bought the trial version, which I pitched after trying it a few times and feeling nauseated each time. This does work to create some fullness and bouncy hair, but the smell is terrible!

I couldn't wait to try this once it became available in the US. Unfortunately, it was one of the biggest let downs I can remember. It stinks and it doesn't hold at all. No way could I recommend this to anyone.

After waiting forever for this hairspray to be sold in the US I was disappointed. Smells horrible. Holds well. I prefer my TIGI Rockaholic flexible spray.
