I don't know I just started using it, and my huge pores have now turned black!!! Is this purging??? I would love to know, as I'm afraid to continue using it.
It is NOT moisturizing at all..if your skin is dry/dehydrated, you will need an additional moisturizer.

I love that it both has salicylic acid and moisturizes very well at the same time. I use it as a night time moisturizer. It sinks it quickly and I wake up with smoother skin. Not so fond of the smell, it's kinda old-womanly, but I'm only using it at night so it doesn't bother me. I wish it came in a pump, I hate sticking my fingers into jars.

For years I spent tons of money on department stores & salon brands, where there's a long list of stuff you have to use on top of one another!. Finally found this & it's fabulous, giving me radiant, glowing skin that's clearer & smoother after 2 months' of daily use. Even my pigmentation marks have somehow lightened, & my oily skin is more 'normalised' + open pores look finer. Best of all it doesn't blow a hole in my pocket..lol!! I use this in the day & Olay's Regenerist Night Firming Cream at night. Skin care can't get simpler than this!! :-) & I do prefer the jar packaging cos I can get to the last drop, whereas a pump bottle makes it messy to get the bottom out.
EDIT : After 2 months' use, I had to stop this as my skin has lots of clogged pores, black & white heads. My esthetician told me my skin surface was less oily cos all the pores were clogged up, preventing 'free flow' of oil to the surface! Further use would have resulted in pimples & acne.

good product. texture like water and make skin moist. but I don't like the smell of this item. kind of baby powder but too strong for me. I would try a no fragrance line next time.

I'm now on my second jar and I'm not too sure if I would repurchase it again. It's a good product. It smells nice and has a great consistency. It feels great when you apply it. But I'm starting to think that it doesn't do as much for my skin as my other products. I tried out an experiment where I only applied this product, nothing else, for a week. Frankly, it didn't seem to do much for my skin. It didn't make my skin as smooth as did my normal routine.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this moisturizer! This cream began my obsession with Olay. First of all, I am 16. For years I dried out my skin with an extreme skincare regimen in order to "prevent oilyness and acne". I honestly became quite OCD about this regimen and refused to try any other products.
Winter 2008 comes and I am so done with my overdrying face washes and creams. I have never made a better decision for my skin. This cream is to thank.
I am already on my second jar and I bought this over Thanksgiving break. I absolutely love the scent of this cream. It's so light, clean, and has a slight pretty perfume smell. The reason I say slight is because I don't want to turn off anyone with sensitive skin; this cream wouldn't be bad for you!
The texture is like a dream. Never in my life have I had so much joy when applying moisturizer to my face. I love rubbing the cream on. The scent fills the air (or my nostrils), spreads super easily, is very light but hydrating, cooling.
I highly recommend this to everyone. I have combination skin and this is really helping to even out oilier areas and normal/dry areas.

great product. very fast results. my face felt softer and smoother and even more toned after one night! My face is usually quite smooth already too because I regularly use a microfiber towel. Yet this cream still managed to make a noticeable difference on my skin. I'm hoping that I can gradually switch from benzoyl peroxide that I've been using from acne.org to this to avoid acne. I still use my gel but am gradually decreasing the amount. I really like the bp gel, but am tired of the extra step in my routine and the bleached sheets! this so far is very promising and I will update if needed! def. recommend though...very cheap and effective...even as just a moisturizer. Don't really like the tub though.

Thanks for the great find, MUA! After my Marcelle cream I used for years was discontinued, I thought I'd go through the usual quest for a replacement- months of trying new products, spending lots of money and having my skin freak out. Thanks to MUA, my problem was solved- this is an excellent, inexpensive, accessible and effective cream. For my very combination, acne-prone skin this works perfectly as a night cream. It moisturizes the dry areas without breaking me out. In fact, my skin was clearer and smoother within a week using this. It's a brilliant combination of non-comedogenic moisturizers and salicylic acid, ideal for sensitive, young, soon-to-age skin. I found it at Shoppers and was on sale for 9.99 CDN- a steal! Hope this is never discontinued. UPDATE: years later, I've tried other things, but always come back. This product is the single most difference-making product I put on my skin and that says a lot. My breakouts are greatly reduced or gone with this, skin perfectly balanced. I have very sensitive, combination, acne-prone skin and this feels made for it. I've also since found the Daily Renewal Protective lotion, which I hadn't seen before (different than the usual DR lotion I see) and am really loving it. Olay, never discontinue!

This is the absolute best moisturizer i have ever put on my skin. I have been using this for over 2 yrs and it has never let me down. I cant say that it will work for everyone as it has for me because everyones skin is different but i think its definatly worth a try.

Great if you have breakout prone skin but are older and need moistuization too. This stuff has changed my life. I broke out severely when I was pregnant and took a long time to find something that could repair the damage. This does the trick because it helps renew the skin and imporves tone. I am always free of dry scales which I get, especially in winter, and in the summer I can still ear this and not get greasy. It is seriously amazing.

I am now using my 2nd one . It is not something I can use in the winter. I love how smooth my skin feels in the morning , but my acne scars still remains..so may it will take years of application. i don't know. However for the price , it is definitely a winner for me although I am sure there are better , more expansive products out there.

I have been very happy with this moisturizer. It is one of the few moisturizers I can use without ending up with major breakouts. It has a nice smell and texture and if used before makeup makes foundation go on a lot smoother. Great price and good value.

I've been using this for a few months and am now on my third jar. I use it at night and in the morning after I wash my face. I'm not in love with the packaging, would prefer something else! The product seemed harsh at first. Paula Begoun says that the product's pH is very low and makes the BHA a bit strong. I laid off the AHA I was using and it worked fine after that. I use this with Green Cream 6 at night and Olay Regenerist with SPF 15 in the morning and my acne has entirely gone away! I love it. I was really hating relying on BP, the smell, bleaching my clothes when I wasn't careful enough . . . it works, but awful stuff to use for twenty-some years! My skin is healing and looking better than it has in years. I am now adding AHA peels every two weeks at the medspa to smooth my skin and moving up to Green Cream 9. I am also using Olay Regenerist for the niacinamide to speed healing and trying hydroquinone to fade the old acne marks. I'm also drinking green tea three times a day for the antioxidants. Whew! Hope it all works!
I may switch to Paula's Choice BHA in the future, but for now this works for me and I can get it at the store whenever I run out. It works for me to clean out my pores and exfoliate a bit. I don't use it as a moisturizer, since I have oily skin. In fact, I might switch to PC's BHA in the summer to get a drier application. I don't know what kind of moisturizer that it would be considering it is an acid. I think Olay makes creams like the Regenerist and Complete lines that would be better for that. The retinol (Green Cream) is good for improving pore functioning and cell turnover. I think between the two I'm fairly well covered.
Update: I stopped using this because I felt that the product lost some of its effectiveness after I opened it. The packaging does not keep the ingredients very stable. I have switched to Neutrogena 3 in 1 Acne Stress Control which has a great BHA and seems to be more effective.

Doesn't seem to be working for me, after about 2 weeks of trying. I'd been using Alpha Hydrox 12% for years, thought I'd give this beta hydroxy a try after reading somewhere that it's more potent than alpha h. No improvement and I'm beginning to get funky bumps over my chin and forehead. Is this becasue my skin is still adjusting? Wonder if I should just go back to AHA cream.

After using the Original Olay Active Hydrating Lotion and having nice results, glowing skin, compliments etc, I decided to give the beta hydroxy a try after reading the reviews here.
The first 3 days, I experienced a noticable improvement. It evened out my skin tone nicely, made my skin appear glowy and smooth. I really had hopes for this! But after day five my skin began having problems. It was getting dry over my cheeks, nose, and chin. The appearance of my skin began to change and started to look taut and dry. My tiny wrinkles began to appear deeper and dry.
Then the skin on my cheeks and chin began to feel rough and chaffed. I stopped the product but my skin continued to develop thick dry patches and scaling. I had tiny hard red bumps raise up and break open. Not pretty at all!
I went back to my olay original formula and after a few days my skin returned to normal. I'm going to assume that beta hydroxy is not for my skin.

I bought this based on reviews here and I'm glad I did. I'm 53 and still battle blemishes but, if I allow my skin to get too dry, I get these horrible red bumps that look like unerupted pimples... gross. I use this cream at night to give myself some moisture and a bit of salicylic acid to battle blemishes. I like this very much as it has calmed down my irritated skin this winter.

I've been using this is conjunction with the spf lotion version (I reviewed that as well), and the combination of the two is working great so far. I've been using this for about a month, and it's awesome! No breakouts and bad reactions for me. It's goes on very smooth and absorbs quickly, leaving my skin soft and moisturized. It's a cream so it has a thick consistency, but it doesn't feel heavy on my skin. I only use this at night while I use the lotion in the morning. It doesn't sting or cause any redness, and it has definitely made my skin look better. I have less blemishes, less redness, my pores look smaller. I don't really mind the jar, but I would prefer and pump or bottle. Overall my skin is loving this cream, and I would buy again.

I wasn't in love with this product at first, but I'm actually appreciating it a lot more these days. It fits in nicely into my skin regimen - isn't greasy, is fairly good at moisturizing (though perhaps not in more severe wintertime), and doesn't break me out. I know I'm not saying much that isn't new, but something about it just makes this a wonderful product! I will buy again.

I've been using this cream at night (along with it's counterpart - Olay's Age Defying Protective Renewal Lotion spf 15 - during the daytime), and I can really see a positive difference in my skin. My skin is looking clearer, brighter and seems to have a nice, healthy "glow". My pores are looking smaller/tighter and the color/tone of my skin is much more even (no foundation anymore - just powder). Also, I've noticed that when using this, my skin seems to regulate it's oil production better - it seems more balanced and "normal" - I no longer wake up with an oil-slick on my face, and during the day I blot way less. No break-outs or clogged pores - it's really improved the health and clarity of my skin. Very nice products from Olay!
