I love Almay original One Coat mascara and figured this would be just like the regular formula. WRONG! The brush is weird and tough to use. The stuff does not come off. I used makeup remover, olive oil, soap and even a dab of vegetable oil and could not get it all off. Simply terrible!

My Eyes/Lashes: thin straight wispy short lashes (typical asian...); oily lids so I always use waterproof mascaras and on the days that I run after work, I need something that'll last through a sweaty hour or more of running.

Waterproofness: this lasted all day and also lasted through a sweaty and rainy 1 hour, 40 minute run

Removal: I always use Shiseido Ultimate Cleansing Oil and this removed quite easily (although, keep in mind that I have yet to come across a product that the Cleansing Oil cannot remove...)

Curl: I curl my lashes and this seems to hold the curl a smidgen better than my usual L'Oreal Voluminous WP mascara but not to the point that I'd switch over to this one

Mascara Effect: this doesn't lengthen and thicken my lashes as well as Voluminous; whereas the Voluminous lengthens, thickens and fans out my lashes, the Almay had more of a natural clumpy effect (e.g., you know those people whose lashes are naturally curly and point every which way so that they create triangular shapes... don't know if I'm describing this effectively) -- i.e., my lashes were thicker but not as long as when I use Voluminous and they tended to clump together (as in tangled lashes and not as in mascara clots). I found that if I do the opposite of what the package directions recommend, the mascara worked better for me; if I followed the directions then I ended up with a clumpy mess

Packaging: the tube is a slick cylinder w/ no texture or grooves/ridges, so if you have lotion on your hands, you'll have difficulty opening it (another annoyance when in a rush in the morning)

Bottom Line: I like the formula and I think it's the brush that doesn't work for me. Since I need to be able to put on my makeup fast and efficiently, this'll go back to CVS and I'll be returning to Voluminous WP until I find a better one...

I thought the double-sided wand was a gimmick but it actually works. I found that the different sides to the wand really did lengthen and separate on one side and volumise on the other. As another reviewer pointed out, it doesn't provide a falsies effect but to be honest, I think to get this look and not look like a drag queen you're going to have to get false lashes. This is waterproof, it doesn't flake, chip or smudge, and the white packaging is quite funky. The black is not quite black enough for my already dark lashes although it is adequate. The biggest problems I have with this though are that it tends to uncurl my lashes and it dries up much quicker than some of my other mascaras so that after a while it feels like I'm applying gloop to my lashes. As the brush is the key to this mascara, I'm now looking for a good formulation whose tube fits the Almay wand.

This is pretty nice! I wish the brush was curved, but otherwise I find it to be a good daily mascara.

A co-worker of mine always has really nice looking lashes. Not falsie-esque or anything, but just what I want-- everyday look + a little bit of drama. She told me she wears Almay One-Coat. She didn't specifiy if it was lengthening or thickening or whatever. So I decided to try triple effect because it seemed like it would work just as good as any One-Coat. I always buy waterproof mascaras. I have oily eyelids and if ever possible I like to buy WP to prevent undereye smudge.
My only real complaint about the mascara is that the brush "could be better". It's not terrible but it can clump a bit. Be careful with it in cold climates too...if it's been sitting in a cold place overnight (like if you leave it in the car or something) you will wanna run it under some hot water (sealed) just to loosen it up a little first.
Other than that, it is a really great mascara. It does what it says it's going to do, and doesn't irritate at all. That's a major plus for Almay mascara.
I'd buy this again.

This is my staple waterproof mascara. I only wear WP mascara once in a great while for & when I do I always go back to this basic one. It does all I need it to do-length, thicken and stay put when my eyes water & the price is right too! I would highly recommend this WP mascara for a d/s brand.

Great mascara ...live up to its claim..doesnt smudge or flake and comes off easily with water. Nice formula but im not a big fan of the brush...I dont know why but i use another brush with the formula...does a great job that way!!!

Update: This mascara lasted for so long and its still fresh. Even though I stopped using it, but i found it today while i was cleaning and its still fresh.

The mascara was alright. It did hold the curl on my eyelashes, but the one thing I didn't like was the brush. Too much mascara gets on the brush. If it had a regular brush, I would buy again.

A+ for no smudging and wearability, but minus lippies for clumping and difficulty to remove. Sure, it lasts all day, but the look is nothing better than average. I find one coat is pretty heavy and can look clumpy. Search continues.

Instant clumping and the worst flaking ever. Perhaps my tube was old, but within ten minutes I had to remove as the pieces flaked into my eyes.

This mascara is just ok. I recently made the switch to waterproof mascara and this is the first one I've tried. Pros- It is waterproof. It lasts all and and I have to use eyemakeup remover to get it off. It doesn't seem to be damaging my lashes. It is inexpensive and you can get it almost anywhere. It doesn't make my eyelashes crunchy and my eyes don't itch. Cons- The brush is weird. It has different sides and I'm just not sure which one I like, or if I like any of them. My lashes clump together. The brush gets clumps and lumps and it just doesn't deliver the mascara smoothly. Basically, this mascara is fine. I won't repurchase it because I'm looking for something better, but it's not bad mascara, just bad packaging.

HG alert! This mascara actually lives up to its claim and makes a big difference on my skimpy, straight lashes with one coat. I usually put (I'm not kidding) about 5-10 coats on just to build up some kind of length and volume. This mascara actually works for me in just one coat. WOW. And it really is waterproof enough to last me a whole 16-hour day (I haven't cried in it yet though).

I'm very impressed and will continue to buy repeatedly!

UPDATE - It clumps up on me in the tube after only a couple of weeks. Went through this twice and realized that its just how it is. Piffle. Will not continue to repurchase.

It tried this one because Paula Begoun gave this a "Paula's Pick" rating. This mascara wears...just okay. I still find a black smudge here and there during the day. And I have to disagree with her on the clump-free factor! I find myself having to reach for my eyelash comb each time I put this on. Overall, nothing to write home about. I'd repurchase in an emergency, but that's about it.

My lashes - Stick straight, so I always use a lash curler. My eyes water and my lids get oily by the end of the day. My lashes are black, so as long as the mascara comes in black, I'm satisfied.

Waterproof/Oilproof? - Yes. No raccoon eyes.

Adds volume? - Some.

Adds length? - Some.

Holds curl? - Yes. Without using a lash curler, this definitely provides some lift but not much curl (can you really expect a mascara to curl your lashes for you?); though if I swipe the topside of my upper lashes 2-3 times before swiping underneath, I can get some lift/curl on my otherwise straight lashes.

Removal? - Easy to remove with wp eye mu remover.

Other comments - Wears well. No clumping, no smudging, no flaking. Lashes stay soft with up to 5 swipes.

Overall - Best for gals looking for a little oomph to their natural look, but not for gals wanting fat, glamour, baby-doll, doe-eye lashes.

Note - this staple is the replacement for my old fave, Almay Bright Eyes Waterproof (discontinued) - there is one difference, in the directions: the Bright Eyes said to use the short bristles first for volume and length then the longer bristles for separation and definition. Triple Effect says to use the long bristles first then the short...!

UPDATE - This stuff seems to go bad (lumpy bits and clumping lashes) relatively quickly; never had this problem with the old formula. Rating dropped from 4 to 3.
