I got this because I wanted a primer with spf in it. However, I can't figure out which ingredient in this product protects against UVA rays (smashbox says that it protects against both UVA/UVB rays).
The ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: 7.5% Octinoxate (Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate), 5.0% Octisalate (Ethylhexyl Salicylate). are both UVB blockers.
I emailed smashbox tonight asking what ingredient blocks out the UVA rays. I will share the answer when I receive it.
I really hope that this does what it says because it is the only primer that I know of that has spf.
P.S. Nobody ever answered my email and the Active Ingredients in this product are both UVB blockers.

Photo Finish Primer with Dermaxyl doesn't make a difference in my make up or skin. I can't relate to any of the rave reviews or reasons for awards. I don't notice a difference when I do or don't wear it under my Smashbox High Definition foundation. I have no idea if the anti-aging products are working, but I haven't noticed any skin improvements. I'm 24 so maybe there aren't skin problems to change. The primer does goes on like silk, but seems like a neat trick with no effect on my makeup or skin. The pump packaging is convenient for consistently dispensing the same amount every use. It also ensures none of the product is wasted. Despite seeing no effects I'll give the product the benefit of the doubt and finish the bottle. However, I'm suspect it is making me break out. I probably won't buy this again though or I will buy the less expensive original Photo Finish Primer or (most likely scenario) I'll end up getting a sample in the Smashbox sets I like to buy.

The finish was nice and matte-- for a few hours. The glass bottle isn't travel friendly and the pump dispenser only delivers about 3/4 of the product out of the bottle. Switched to Laura Geller's "Welcome Matte." Not totally in love with the product but like it much better than Photo Finish because 1) Stays matte longer 2) It's less expensive and 3) It's packaged in a soft plastic tube and you can squeeze every bit of product out. Still searching for my HG ultimate silicone primer.

Wow, can't believe some of the bad reviews. I love this stuff! It makes my skin so smooth, so the foundation goes on really easily (and evenly).
I have very sensitive skin, but no breakouts, no grease, no dryness. I have been using it for over a year now.
Love!

I see that a lot of the previous reviewers suggest not to buy this product if you have oily skin. Well, I say don't buy it at all. I have dry skin, and this makes my skin oily. Add this primer and the humidity of Southern Louisiana, and my m/u is sliding down my face! Not only that I am totally NOT acne prone, and if I use this for more than 2 days in a row zit-city! However, I have to admit that the primer does cover any fine lines I have, and evens out the texture of my skin. But, that doesn't justify a $40 purchase in my book. For that kind of $$ it better be good. I am sure I can find a better product than this, and maybe a little cheaper. Ignore the hype it's just not worth it.

I gave in to all the hype about Smashbox's Photo Finish Primer and made the purchase. Sure it makes your skin feel silky smooth...for about 30 minutes! After that It'll have oil dripping down your face! (OK, OK well maybe not so dramatic..but you get the pix). My point: I have oily skin so if you do too, this isn't a good product to use.

If you have oily or acne prone skin, stay away from this one. I returned it right away. Not sure why i even purchase this one. It was greasy and i felt it just sat on top of my skin. Horrible! Do not recommend it. I do like other smashbox products like their lip glosses, but just not this primer.

I love this primer! I got it in the Ulta "On in 5" set for $39, which included this, an eyeshadow trio, a full size lip gloss and mascara, and a cheek fusion pan. The set was a steal considering that one fullsized primer costs as much as the set. The primer is actually the only thing I'm using on a regular basis. I use this to prime my liquid foundation as well as my bare minerals foundation. I find that it's not greasy or makes me break out, and it glides on smoothly and fills in my pores (i dont have fine lines yet hehe). I also noticed that it helps keep my foundation and blush on for a much longer time than if I had worn my foundation on its own. After an 8 hour day at school running across the campus and stuff, my face makeup is nearly flawless. I love this, and will continue to repurchase.

After hearing such great reviews about this product, I decided to splurge and try it. It does help my foundation glide on smoother, but I can't say that it makes it last longer. Also, I have oily skin and this product makes it worse. My face becomes shiny in about 2 hours after application. I wouldn't recommend this product (especially to ladies with oily skin) as it is totally overpriced and mediocre.

I was not too impressed with this product, I was expecting a lot more from it. At first touch I thought it would work really well, nice and smooth and silky. It went on nicely, but when it came time to do my foundation a bit later it went on really streaky. Only serious blending and powder fixed it. Not sexy. By the end of the day, my face felt oily and my pores actually looked accentuated. I thought it might have just been me, but when I tried it on my sister while doing her makeup, same result. I didn't even use the whole bottle before I tossed it. I ended up getting some swiss brand primer from a company my mom sells makeup for. It worked waaaay better and was not as expensive.

I have oily skin and probably should not have gotten this product so read this review with that in mind.
I don't know where it comes from, maybe the SPF, but this has a funky smell that I just don't like. As an experiment I primed one side of my face with this and other with BE's Prime Time.
I didn't like Smashbox.At all.
It made me really oily and the smell did not fade even by the end of the day. I had to blot A LOT.
Aside from the scent and the oiliness I didn't notice a difference between this and Prime Time.
Next time I might try Smashbox light version.

This product gives my faces a nice finish and my makeup looks a lot better. But this one also cause breakouts. This is their anti-wrinkle formula, it would be nice if they made a anti-breakout formula.

This doesn't give a noticable different right away. But, the first couple of days I used it people told me that I looked rested and fresh. I can also see a little difference when I look in the mirror. Other than that? I can't say too much........is there a magic bullet? I don't think so.

I have been using this for about a week and I am very pleased with the results. After I put on my makeup, my face has a smooth and perfect glow to it which I love!!! I have not experienced any breakouts and after I wash my face at night it seems to look better than before. Smoother and softer. I got this in the on-in-5 kit and I like most of the other products too. Love it!!

I got this as a swap. I thought it would work for me because I have the color correcting smashbox primer and I like it. But, this did not work out too well. It doesn't really seem to prime at all. My makeup looked kinda bad after a few hours. But, it's nice that there is SPF.

I researched this one before buying....found good reviews....big mistake. First off came in a pump which got clogged. 2nd it made me break out very badly 3rd just did not do what it was suppose to do. Used cheaper primers that worked much better. Never will use again.

The texture of this product is nice and silky so it should work. But it made my skin burn!!! For the reference, I have sensitive, dry, redness prone skin. Obviously, will not repurchase.

This product sounds so promising: primer, suncreen, anti-wrinkle complex all in one package. It is too good to be true. This was an impulse purchase while browsing at SDM with a bunch of Optimum Points to burn. It was part of the "On in 5" package with 4 other Smashbox products (fyi: all of which were crappy too ...) and it seemed like a good deal. I used this for about 3 days before I developed a huge break-out all over my chin. If you're acne-prone, beware. Will not repurchase and I wish I could get my Optimum points back for this dud.
