I'd consider this a brownish purple liner. It shows up very naturally though. It also matches well with pink and purple eyeshadow. The texture is easy to apply and is a good alternative to brown or black eyeliner.

I recently jumped on the gel eyeliner wagon and didn't want to buy another brown shade but this one has a burgundy/purple/bronze mixed with lively brown that I could not resist. Those types of colors always work for me....I have green eyes, blonde hair, NW 20. When I wear this people (who are not into MU) always say that I look clear and awake and healthy. Yes, I know that's the opposite to the experience that other reviewers have had. Go figure (shrugs shoulders). It's one of those personal match things that can't be explained. It's not harsh and yet defines the eye and makes the green pop. A true winner. When I want a more dramatic look I use BB Chocolate Shimmer Ink on the top and the Black Honey on the bottom. Love this. Forgot to mention, I have oily lids and no other liner stays but as well as gel liner. Love Black Honey Brush On Liner!!!

this shade has too much red in it, makes me look like I have Ebola.
I have the brush on liners in dark brown and black which are much better!!

It's such a pretty color in the pot but that color doesn't show up on my NC45 skin. I found it to be a waste of money and took it back.

This is my first Clinique Brush-On Gel liner, after it was reccomended by a girlfriend. Black Honey is a beautiful, warm red-brown with ultra-fine shimmer, that gives the product more of a glow rather than shimmer or glitter finish.
I find this colour flattering, as the slight red tones brings out the green in my eyes and it is soft and easy to apply. I don't use the brush that came with is, as I have a finer angled brush that I prefer. This makes a great alternitive to black, and works in well with golds, bronzes, oranges and even pinks.
The container looks pretty small, it's 5ml, but you really use such a small amount that it would last a decent amount of time. This liner wears well through the day doesn't crack or flake. I would like to try this product in more colours!

I just bought this at the Bay because they did a demo on me and my sister, and they used it on my sister and I admired the colour on her, and was fascinated by the format. I'd never seen a cream eyeliner before, and just bought a new skinny eyeliner paint brush from sephora and wanted to buy some liquid liner to use the brush in. Most liquid liners don't have nice fine brushes... anyway, back to the cream eyeliner... I tried it today and wore it to work.. it lasted all day without getting smudged or blurry but faded a little bit. It still lasts a lot better than a pencil so it gets 4 lippies for that... the brush that comes with it seems a bit crude -- I would prefer to use my own angled liner brush, but the one that comes with it is still "useable". The colour is a slightly plum tinted bronzey brown. I'm not sure it's the best colour to use around my eyes - I think it looks a little bloodshot tinted... or kind of auburnish... I have black hair and dark brown eyes. I think it is a little softer than black eye liner though, so it's good for a change... I would be happier if it was less red-toned. I don't think I will be buying the other colours... I'll see if I still like this a week from now... (I said I would repurchase, but not really sure).. costed about $16 cdn

UPDATE:
I went back and returned this colour of liner for the limited edition colour "bronze". I didn't like the wine-brown tone (of the black honey) next to my eyes, but the product itself is very long wearing and doesn't get runny or blurry.
****************************************************************************
update 2:
I like the bronze, but it DOES run a little after a few hours. I wish I had exchanged for the deep brown. Even the bronze is looking a little reddish around the eyes for me...
*****
Sep.19/08: the bronze is a great colour - I used it everyday all summer, and now am using the deep brown - it lasts all day, doesn't run, and looks fresh even at the end of the day.

This is a fab brown with reddish tint. Works great for me, being a pale redhaired type. At first, I was a little bummed about how it compared to MAC gel liner. It is not as easy to apply, as it has less of a slick texture. However, it does smudge and blend waay better, so this actually is working better for me than MAC. Doesn't budge when dry and doesn't fade through the day. Comes right off with my cleansing milk.

I really like this product. I initially wanted the Deep Brown color but the SA convinced me to get the Black Honey color ... which is a nice warm brown color with gold shimmer.
My eyes are a warm brown so I really suit this color and it's great for wearing during the day - I hardly notice the shimmer
Someone else mentioned that this liner goes on lighter than what they expected ... and I would have to say that this is very true, so you need to apply a few coats if you want to acheive a darker color.
The brush that it comes with is average at the best. I would recommend using a different brush.
One great thing about it is that it lasts and lasts and will last all day without smudging.

Recently, I have tried a few clinique makeup products and have been quite impressed (was never a fan before, especially of their skincare products). This is my most recent purchase, after I got the brush on liner in black (which I really like). I love this even more because the colour is so beautiful - a rich dark brown with glitter. Fun but totally acceptable for work. It also stays on all day with no smudging and minimal fading. I would highly recommend this product. Of course, the brush that comes with it is useless (like pretty much all applicators that come with a product), I just use a very fine eyeliner brush from sephora and it works perfect.

I have to say I hate this. First off the shimmer in it is bigger then some tween glitter products I've seen. The staying power is horrid unless layered with long wearing foundation and powdered over. The brush is terrible. It's easy to smudge and more like a paste instead of a gel. Only thing good is the color of it.

I've been using this color for a few months now and I love it. It's a very nice shade of brown and has a slight shimmer to it but it's not overpowering. It goes on nice and smooth and it lasts all day which I love. I don't care for the brush that it came with but it's doable. I did get a new brush for it after about a month. I will this eyeliner again it's a great basic.

Bought this at Sephora and found it to be too red for me. The name Black Honey is a bit deceiving b/c it doesn't represent either one of those colors. It looked really pretty on the back of my hand, but it went back to the store b.c it appeared reddish against my eyes. Anything that is going to make me look tired is not of interest to me.

Wow! I'm loving this gel eyeliner so much, that I almost never use the other one from MAC (Fluidline in Non-Conformist). I never used a liquid or gel eyeliner before, so when I got this in a warehouse sale for $9CAD, I was a bit skeptical as well but bought it anyway because the color was pretty, and it was pretty cheap! I'm so glad I tried this brown one first, it's dark brown, a bit bronzed, and it does have some fine sparkle I must say, but when you put it on, it goes really neat and a great subtle but put togetherlook, it complements my brown eyes really nice without looking too harsh. I must say that it does have a great staying power, just put 2 extra coat on, let it dry for 30 secs, then you're good to go. I use it on the bottom lid too, by patting it in little dots instead of lining them, and it is so much better than using a pencil, because it still stays there after a whole day. It's very easy to come off too with any eye makeup remover, that's when I can see that it has a red pigment on the cotton ball. And while others don't really like the tiny brush, I actually love it! It was a bit hard at first, but now that I'm used to it, I use it more than my angled brush. Probably because I'm so near sighted, that if I use the longer handle brush , it will either poke me in the eye, or poke the mirror because I'm so close to the mirror! Why I like this more than Mac's Fluidline: it's more moisture coming right out of the jar. So you have more time tidying it up on your eyelid before drying up.

Pros
Beautiful colour
Excellent staying power
Easy to remove
Comes with a handy lil brush
A little goes a long way.
Cons
Costly
Slightly trickier to use
My Opinion
I bought this for £12 from John Lewis a while ago after a recommendation from the sales assistant and it is one of the best things I've ever bought. The colour is a beautiful dark brown with a slight shimmer and can be worn during the day or at night so its very versatile. The staying power is EXCELLENT. I have slightly oily eyelids and this does not budge or smudge in anyway even after dancing the night away in a hot nightclub :) Despite this, its also very easy to remove, a quick wipe and you're done. I don't mind the little brush it comes with - i've had no problems using it for either a fine or thick line. You really need only a tiny amount so I have a feeling this will last a long long time so even though it's slightly pricy I will definitely repurchase!

I haven't purchased this yet, but I went to the Clinique counter for some eyeshadow and the lady put this on as well and I fell in love with the color. Of course now I am lusting after it and will have to purchase it sooner or later. I had already bought the LE black graphite one and love it. A little hard to apply and takes some practice but beautiful results that stay and it is easy to remove.
UPDATE: I have purchased this after lusting for it for so long and I love it!! The color is so pretty and different from any other color liners that I have. I just love it and Sephora had a deal on a black honey set with the kohl liner and lipstick and gloss and eyeshadow but it sold out in like a few hours....I hope they get some more in because I would like to try the lipstick next if it is this pretty.

I've always steered well clear of the Clinique counter until now because their skincare has such a terrible reputation, but I'm just discovering their eyeliners and lipsticks which I'm loving.
I like the look of liquid eyeliner (you know that super precise defined look you can never quite get with pencils?) but I find it takes too long to apply - well Clinique brush on eyeliner gives almost the same effect but is waaaaay easier. I've got them in Black Honey and Egyptian, which are both such gorgeous colors that really make my greyish blue eyes pop. They go so much better with my coloring than the standard black eyelines, and I love the subtle shimmer (not glitter) - gives a very refined look for daytime.

I have green eyes and the red undertones in this eyeliner make my eyes pop. It has a nice amount of little sparkles. I find that once it sets (about 30 seconds) it does not smudge for the rest of the day.

I liked the color of this eyeliner (surprisingly less red near my eyes than it looked like it would be) however, it does not have as good of staying power as the other gel liners I've used ( MAC and Paula's choice) and seems to melt off my eyes in about 3-4 hours. The soft texture of the eyeliner also makes it harder to apply in the first place, even with my best angle brush.

I disagree on some that it is too red. Well, it IS redish though but it works perfectly on me..probably b'coz I have black hair that tends to suit many colours? hmm..
This is a MUST + the TRUE BLACK which is a staple IMO. I am soo glad i bought these!! It's glossy with shimmers, very pretty. I would be buying more colours but I think this is far best and wished more colours will be out soon. It's sad for those who had problems with these. Usually I just line this on my upper eye lid (I have souble eyelids) and I'm off to go. Maybe I don't like the effect screaming "look at my eyes!!", I'm only in my teens though, lol.

This is a red tone brown cream eyeliner with bronze tones to it. Sounds very pretty, but I could not get the hang of it. The brush it comes with is awful, but even with a different brush I could not get it to look good. It also flaked off after about 5 to 6 hours of wear. Tried it numerous times and gave up, will not purchase again.
