I wanted a red so I asked the girl at the counter and she suggested this one because it was middle of the road. However its just still too bright so it sits in my makeup/tackle box. I like Moistly LipGelee TONS better. Sorry this was a no go.

My first lustreglass bought unseen because I wanted a RED color after finding out that matte lipsticks don't do it for me (Ruby Woo) and that lipgloss is so much better for the girl on the go. In the tube this is a true red with a slight hint of blue - enough to make it neutral-cool - and hints of red and gold shimmer. Easy to slick on with the brush type applicator (don't know why the lustreglasses have them and the why the others do not, or vice versa) and the shimmer is not so noticeable. On my lips I get a sheer, but still visible, pinky-red. It is sticky on the lips and has a slight vanilla-like smell that is neither a pro or a con for me. Gives the wet-look effect. The color is okay and the lustreglass delivers what it promises. I might buy this again, but I should be able to find this color in a myriad of other textures and finishes in others brands and therefore it is not as likely. For me this is just okay, not HG or anything I could fall in love with.

When I first bought this (by accident, might I add. I got this and Palatial confused) and used it, I LOVED IT. I still like it, but I'm finding the application to be rather streaky. Its gorgeous over lipstick, but on its own the application isnt as even as I'd like. Its still a gorgeous, shimmery cherry red nonetheless.

I love lustreglasses in general. They go on smoothly, aren't too thick or sticky, and have a brush applicator! Venetian is one I love in particular because it is a bright, sheer red. It is perfect on its own if you want something that is still red toned but not intense, and looks stunning over red MAC lipsticks--especially matte ones that need some glossing up!!

Venetian looked gorgeous in the tube but isn't anything special imo. It's an easily dupeable, generic lipgloss with a sheer tint of cherry-red. It's not pigmented at all, on my lips it looks like I'm just wearing clear gloss. I expected more from this, you could easily just buy a drugstore l'oreal lipgloss w/a red tint and get the exact same results.

This is a lovely, sheer pinky red and I like wearing it when I want a more sheer red lip look. Not only that, but I like using it to gloss over my red lipsticks to add a little extra Oomph when I go out.
Hopefully the people at MAC are smart enough to not discontinue this, because if they do I will have a fit!

I purchased this gloss today and I loooove it! It is the perfect wash of pinky-red I have been looking for! The texture is more gel like than lipglass and therefore not as thick. Moreover, the color is sheer and it has a slight shimmer on my lips. The color looks like a soft, juicy strawberry tone and gives me a soft, yet polished look. Also would be amazing on top of Russian Red Lipstick and Brick lipliner (both also from MAC).

Great color for me. This is a very sheer juicy red color. I have very pigmented lips so light colors don't work the greatest. This is a great bright color. Great on my NC30 skin.

LOVE Venetian! On my pigmented lips, this turns out to be a very bright sheer pinky-red. Like other reviewers have pointed out, it the same color that your lips turn after eating a cherry popsicle. At first I hated Venetian, I thought it was too bright for me...turns out, I just wasn’t used to wearing bright lip colors. It’s a great bright color for a fresh, fun look. I imagine myself wearing this as much in the summer as the winter. I’m not a fan of the brush applicator, I think it makes the gloss more difficult to apply without a mirror so I rated the packaging at 4. Not to mention, I kinda feel like Venetian is a bit more runny than other lustreglasses. NW15-20, light green eyes, brunette, pigmented lips.
If you’re looking for a beautiful red that’s not as bright as Venetian, has a better consistency and wears a little better, check out Ornamental lustreglass (total HG for me). Overall, Venetian will be a staple in my makeup collection.

I wanted to like this, but... it wore very quickly, it bled, and left my lips peeling. Given my allergic reactions to many lip products, I'm choosing to blame the otherwise gorgeous pigments. I think other women will have better luck.

Venetian is more like a very intense pinkish red on my yellow/tan/olive complexion. What I didn't like about this color is that it does not go even like other lustreglasses. It is rather uneven and seems to run a little. You definitely need to apply a lip liner beforehand. If you apply it sheerly, you get the "I just sucked a lollipop/little girl" look. But apply it heavier and you may need more than five minutes to get it looking decent, at least in my case. This does not seem to happen to my cousin, who is also olive toned. Maybe it is the fact that she has thinner lips, I don't know. Anyhow, this was my first try at Venetian. I will update if I get any improvements.

I have been looking for a great red - since i dont wear lipstick i find it hard to do a darker lip but this is great. I compare it to dewy jube lip gelee in its red-ness .... but definately more pigmented.
Love the lustreglass scent, brush and formula ... another fav of mine!

I was looking for a sheer red lipgloss and this comes closer to fitting that bill than anything else I've tried. Yet it's still a little more pink than I'd prefer so the search continues. Anyway, love the lustreglass formula - not too sticky but good staying power, feels smooth on the lips. This color is more pigmented than any other lustreglass I've tried. I wouldn't recommend putting this on without a mirror. Once the vibrant red-pink fades, you're still left with a rosy, slightly dewy lip look. Not too shabby.

For a lustreglass, this is much more pigmented than I would have expected. On my lips, it's a sheer red, but not so sheer that you can't tell the color or that I'm wearing something. It definitely has color and shine to it! I don't wear this alone very often, but I love to wear it over Russian Red lipstick to give Russian Red a deep, red shine.

Gorgeous! Venetian is a subtle red gloss, not as subtle as I was expecting so I'm still debating whether to use it or not cos I'm scared of using dark lipcolours but it's so pretty I just can't swap it away LOL we'll see...

I was inititally attracted to this because it reminded me of a more shimmery version of Russian Red l/g (bright blue-red). And while that may be true, this Lustreglass just doesn't have much else going for it. It is an extremely sheer, not at all long wearing, unversatile product. On it's own it's so sheer that it's almost pointless to wear it (I mean, it does not mosturize or last more than an hour, so why bother?). It looks great over another lipstick (Rocker being one of my favorite to pair it with), but you can get the same effect with any other red Lipglass. I don't know. If you enjoy a very subtle red lip look, this may be for you. If you're 12 years old and want to to wear red lipstick, but your mom won't let you, check this out. Otherwise, save yourself some money and pick up something more useful.

I don't know why, but this lipgloss just doesn't last on me AT ALL! I mean, it came off after drinking some water...I don't expect lip glosses to have much lasting power, but this is ridiculous. Plus, it left a red ring around the outside of my lips while wearing off in the middle. Not attractive at all!
On the pro side, it IS a beautiful color, a blue-red without any fuchsia tones at all on me. For the ten minutes that it stays on, it's quite beautiful. However, at work I can only run to a side area to reapply, and the applicator makes that difficult. It worked great with a mirror, but I don't have time while I'm working to use one. So...won't repurchase, won't even try another color in this line.

I bought this on an impulse, because I've been running short on red lipgloss. I'm not usually one to buy vibrant shades, as I prefer a more subtle, YLBB look on my lips, but something about this lustreglass appealed to me. I certainly wasn't disappointed! I *adore* the lustreglass formula- just as shiny and long-lasting as the regular MAC lipglass, only less sticky. Plus, the colors are just too dreamy. I already had the lustreglasses in Wonderstruck, Pinkarat, and Love Nectar, and this was a great addition to my collection. It's a cherry red color, with some subtle shimmer. When applied, it gives your kisser a sexy, shiny, super-girly flair. It's the kind of red lipgloss Jessica Simpson would wear- it's playful and not at all "vampy". Someone else mentioned that it looks like you sucked on a cherry popsicle, which is a perfect analogy for it. Bottom line: a highly recommended red lipgloss, you won't be disappointed!

I was so in love with it before it was released!! Loved the swatches I saw and bought it right away.
Unfortunatly looks terrible on me, I prefer NARS scandal for same effect. It's on my swaplist now :(

I got this after hearing about it in MUA. I was looking for a bright color that would break the monotony of my light pink-beige-nude-cannot-be-seen lipgloss collection. My friend told me she was frustrated because I kept buying the same colors - colors that don't show up on me! I tried this at the counter and it was HOT. There's no other word for it. It's the just-sucking-on-a-cherry-popsicle innocent look. Only hitch is the applicator brush - it makes the gloss application streaky. You really have to work to get it even. But, hey, my boyfriend said I look sexy - that's enough for me. ;)
