I am thrilled to discover Violetta di Parma. It is a sparkling fragrance, starting out like the heart of a rich apricot pansy, the kind that knock you over with their spring laughter at the local flower nursery. After the initial merriment, a wonderful clear woodsy accord comes through, with just a hint of very tender jasmine. This does not become powdery. It stays sparkling, violetta-pansy-ish, but calms, very slightly, warming up and melting into the skin. I am so surprised to find myself loving a violet-scented perfume, but here it is. A staunch violets hater (the candy made me sick as a child) and now I can't get enough of it. I think that's because this is such a classy brilliant perfume, a sunny day in early May, comforting as a swing on the veranda. I recommend it to everyone.

Dainty, fresh, girly, and effortlessly beautiful. Suits a genuine smile, a floppy hat, and a face clean of makeup so your freckles show. I've recently become interested in violet fragrances (after avoiding them for years due to unpleasant encounters with sweet powdery renditions), and this is amongst the best I've tried. I detect a green lily of the valley (which usually turns sour on my skin, but not here), lilac, and a bit of woods. It's perfect for a rainy spring day. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 lipsticks is the lack of sillage; Violetta di Parma is quite subtle and stays close to the skin. Although lasting power is good (6 hours or more), it's so faint that you really have to jam your wrist against your nose to get a whiff. However, if you like very unobtrusive scents, this may not bother you.

Absolutely beautiful! I don't think I've ever smelled a real violet in my life so I can't really compare the scents. This *smells* like it would be real, meaning it lacks that certain "off" smell of other fakey florals. It is sweet but not candied. Fresh and feminine. It also layers beautifully with Linen Musk from Scentsational of Huntington.

wow. It does not smell amazingly good from the bottle or even in the first few minutes after I dabbed, but after a while I got this wonderful smell which lasted all day and even got me a few compliments. I guess this is one that comes alive with one's chemistry. My only regret so far is that I have the mini bottle. I will try to use this one up and if I still like I wil go for the big bottle. I can see it becoming my signature, just because it smells so different on me. Something like sweet violette candy with a hint of powder but not too sweet of powdery. I am not the kind of person who likes sweet scents so that means it is not all that sweet. Violetta also smells clean and fresh, very femenine. Update: I've had it for over a month and I am still loving it as a matter of fact I am craving it right now!

Oh, how I would like to say that I loved "Violetta Di Parma"... But, I didn't :o( .

VdP is a blend of violets, lily-of-the-valley, lilacs and musk. It's calming, fresh, not so powdery and sweet, with a synthetic note . Imagine Sha, by Alfred Sung with a hint of violets - that's VdP!! It's pretty, but I prefer "Meteorites", by Guerlain , Penhaligon's or even "Verte Violette", by L'Artisan Parfumeur (even with its horrible staying power).

For a simple violet fragrance I think this is fantastic. The violet here smells fresh and green to me. Not too sweetened or powdery. It's the closest thing I've found so far to the smell of the real violets that grow in my yard in springtime - petals, leafs, and all. As a result, I hardly ever wear this fragrance in the springtime. I reach for it in the colder months when I miss my violets. In a way, it brings them back to me. :-)

I enjoy this fragrance. It is how violet perfume should smell. I was attracted to it because it is a violet fragrance and the history behind it (was a favorite of Marie Louise, Napoleon Boneparte's second wife) and because it is a fragrance from the 19th century. My only complaint about this fragrance is to me it is not strong enough, it fades so quickly, but then again it was created in the 19th century when fragrance was supposed to be somewhat understated. A true classic, nonetheless.

This is a lovely, simple and sweet fragrance. It's also the first violet that I've truly enjoyed the whole time I was wearing it. This has a soft muskiness note on me as it dries down--I kept getting whiffs of a sweet, light whisper of musk throughout the day. Should be a staple in every violet-lovers collection.

This is a lovely, simple fragrance for days when you need things to be uncomplicated. I had been put off violet fragrances because they were often too powdery and synthetic or blended with notes I did not like (Calypso, for example, had a strong honey note and something that smelled like a pack of cigarettes, but I digress. This one is sweet but still fresh. I cannot believe I found this little gem (3.4 ounce with adorable little atomizer) at TJ Maxx for $11 -- yes, for less than you'd pay for a bottle of Jontue or Charlie (or some other drugstore fragrance) at Walgreens.

I confess that I am partial to the violet probably more than any other note. Violets, to me, are reminiscent of springtime, and my early childhood which is ripe with memories of extended romps in the woods and meadows of the place I grew up. So if there is a prominent violet note in any fragrance, chances are good that it will win my heart. That said, Violetta Di Parma EDP is the epitome of the springtime violet that can invoke those memories of innocence. Clean and soft and sweet with an underlying cedar-type note to temper it. When I wear it, I can almost see the world again through the eyes of my younger, un-jaded self.

Unobtrusive, refreshing, chaste, sincere.

This is to violets what Alfred Sung's Sha is to lilacs. Simple, sweet, pretty, clean...Violetta Di Parma is violet done to perfection. A floral without excessive ornamentation or other notes mucking it up -- just lovely clarity. A beautiful and happy fragrance.

I poured this on myself. And enjoyed the violetty green parfum storm. But then? A few hours later... it's no longer on my skin or in my hair. A trace of grass, maybe. A smidge of a purple flowah. A good scent that doesn't last so long, IMHO.

I wanted to like this but...the first few minutes I thought that it reminded me of Devon Violets. I liked that about it. Then, the drydown just would not drydown!! It was so strong and overly sweet. I felt like I was in a 'sweet hell' for about 3 hours. Then, poof! It was gone--just like that! Don't try this out at work...you might find it too strong. Try it at home first. Weird perfume. However, I give it a 3 b/c I know some violet lover out there will just have to have it.

This is my ideal rainy spring day scent. Or a scent for that glorious day when it's finally warm enough to wear a skirt again in spring? That day when you are so thrilled to pack away your wool socks and long underwear and feel the breeze on your skin again. Really does smell like REAL violets, which are underrated in terms of scent. Love this!

Violets without the powderiness - perfect combination. Light floral that comes across clean yet soft. Lovely!
