I don't know why I used this for so many years. Maybe because it's cheap. Maybe because I kept reading good things about it in magazines. But I've finally come to terms: it's crap.
I thought if I kept using this I would start to see a difference, but I don't think it EVER helped my zits, except maybe the very small, under-the-skin ones that weren't going to surface anyway. Most of my zits just went on their merry way through their natural cycle even as I was using this: start small, get bigger, finally become a whitehead, and then I'd have to pop it. This gel did nothing to help at any of these stages.
Not only can you not wear this under makeup (as I expected), you can't wear a moisturizer with it either. No matter how long you allow it to dry, it comes right off when you try to moisturize. So if you're using it at night, you can't put anything else on.
Never buying this again. Too many years of my life and dollars out of my wallet have been wasted.

I am undecided about this product, which to me means that it probably isn't actually all that good. I have pretty good skin, but recently had some breakout issues due to travel and having to change my skin care (lots of sunblock instead of regular daily lotion). Sometimes I think that this is working, but I'm never really sure. I bought this after I ran out of Differin (which I use only as a spot treatment), and was too lazy to make an appointment with the derm to procure a refill. Since I'm not sure that this is actually doing anything, I'll probably haul my butt to the derm and switch back to the Differin, or maybe just try another OTC product.

I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews. This is the only acne medication that does not dry me out like the Sahara. I am not wearing moisturizer while applying this gel to my face twice a day and I have no dry spots or even a feeling of dry skin. I will be 35 next month and have ALWAYS had bad skin: large pores, an uneven complexion, zits and cystic acne during that time of the month. I got fed up a couple of weeks ago and decided to just apply this twice daily to clean skin. My trouble spots are now almost clear, the skin tone is almost even, blackheads are gone, the one cystic sore is nearly gone. I'm thinking of just using this from now on beneath my new non-acnegenic moisturizer and Bare Minerals foundation. I will definitely keep buying it and I hope they never stop making it!!!

This products works sometimes. It makes my acne spot disappear one day, but sometimes it doesnt work. Also, I can't wear this outside because although there is no color, it's very reflective and shiny.

I like this product, but I use it only as a spot treatment. I would not recommend this product as an all over product to prevent and heal acne, but I highly recommend it to spot treat mild acne.
I have combination, sensative skin and get occasional light breakouts (especially that time of the month). I dab a bit of this on the zit 2x a day, and they are usually gone in 1-3 days. It works very well to dry them up without leaving me with a dry, irritated patch of skin.
I used to love Clinique's clear spot treatment gel, but they changed the formula and I don't like it as much. This is the closest product I've found to the Clinique. I've given up on benzoyl peroxide products as they dry my skin way to much and I can't stand how they bleach clothes. This product lasts forever when used as a spot treatment and I am more than happy with the packaging and price.
EDITED TO ADD: I took away another lippie because after using this awhile I realized it is terrible under concealer. When I rub in the concealer it just peels off. So I have to be extra careful applying concealer or not use it at all. I'd perfer a product that I can use under concealer.

There isn't very much to say about this: it simply doesn't work. It flakes easily and doesn't do anything. Yes, everyone's skin is different, but the big drawback is the peeling - not to mention that it is shiny, so you must apply powder over it (which seems counter-productive).

I really like this product. I have very normal skin and hardly ever break out, but when I do I just put a dab of this before I fall asleep and I wake up with a better complexion already. I definitely recommend this product, but only before you go to sleep. Because it takes a while to dry, makeup wouldn't stick to it. However, it does its job, and I enjoy it a lot.

This works fairly well. Not so much under makeup, unless you wait a long time before putting the makeup on over it (but I thought most people would assume that). Anyways it worked very well for those really huge zits that are like about to burst and just look horrible, but not so well for curtailing the growth of the less developed pimples. I used to use this a lot, but I've since discovered Better Botanicals Clarifying Facial Mask, which is a clay mask that you can use for spot treatment or all over your face. It's much better at drying out pimples than this Clean & Clear stuff, and it also gets rid of blackheads (which are a big problem for me).

This product is crap. i would never buy this again. i put it on and then applyed makeup as usual. (i dont wear a lot of makeup). When I went into the bathroom at work 9about midday) I noticed that it was comp, etely peeling off. It looked like i had some sort of skin disease. So, if thats the look your going for I highly recommend it, if not don't waste your money.

I like this product, even though I can't really tell if it is working or not, but I feel good to have something on my acne. I only use it at night because as another reviewer mentioned, it kinda peels off, but not at nighttime for me. Just not good under makeup. But I like it for the most part and it seems to help more than it hurts.

i had a few pimples along the jaw line that wouldn't go away for months and i finally decided to do something about it and got this. those pimples are gone now but, unfortunately i have brown spots where they use to be but i think if i keep dab this stuff on the spots, eventually the spots will fade. i get the occasional monster zit and i use this at night over my night regimen. i dab some on and in a few days the zit is better or gone.
i got it for $5. if i find something better for about the same i'd get that. but for now this is cheap and it works for me. would buy again if i had to.

This DOESNT WORK. Period! Trust me, look into my eyes, trust me. Doesnt work. Not only does it not reduce pimple size, for some reason it gets bigger. The redness stays too. It peels off too. So if you sleep on your side like I do, it rolls right off. I tried using it under makeuo as well, but there it went with my makeuo sponge. Rolled right off. It really is a waste of money.

i'm really allergic to benzoyl peroxide so salicylic acid would be the next option for me. this one has 2% salicylic acid content in the form of an invisible gel. i haven't had much good results on existing acne but i believe it has done well for me in preventing blemishes. i used to use aveeno clear complexion correction treatment but that got a little too moisturizing for me when i moved to a hot humid place.

I know salicylic acid is really effective for fighting pimples, but my skin just doesn't like it for some reason. My face exploded so my sister who is a pharmacist recommended it because it has the highest % of salicylic acid OTC, but it really didn't help my pimples that much. I think I'm more of a benzoyl peroxide girl, but I'm sure this pimple treatment is working at exfoliating, but it didn't seem to help my painful cystic acne much at all.
I use Clearasil's benzoyl peroxide vanishing cream at night, but I feel like it's too drying during the day so I've been using this treatment instead, but the benzoyl peroxide is definitely more effective for me.

This stuff has not proven to fight my pimples or clear my blemishes. I found that I kept on getting more pimples where I applied the product. It may be because of the hair products that I use daily and what not, but I thought that this product would at least do something for me. Well it didnt do anything for me, so that was a waste of money.

Does not work for me- does not take away the blemish, does not reduce it or its redness neither, makes absolutely no difference. Is is also not invisible and peels off easily (therefore does not penetrate and absorb into the skin or blemish to dry it out). Waste of money!

My skin is normally pretty clear with one or two occasional pimples. I bought this when I got a really big pimple on my cheek. I applied it with a cotton swab but right away my eye stung from what I assume was the alcohol, since my pimple was about an inch below my eye. I didn't wear any makeup over it. It's definitely not invisible because there was a very obvious shiny patch where I applied it. Worst of all, it didn't seem to help with my pimple at all.

This is good stuff. It works slowly and gently, but effectively. It never stings, nor does it dry my face out. It just keeps zits at bay--except for the hormonally-induced ones, which no product, sadly, seems to be able to conquer.
