I had high hopes for this gel, but it left a sticky film on my face and somehow ended up making my skin MORE oily. Yuck.

I use this almost every night on my face to keep it clear. This really helps my rosacea (keeps the flakes away and keeps it clear - it also seems to calm redness). I've found this to be much better for me that Paula's Beta-Hydroxy liquid or lotion. The gel formula and the 1% version is the best combo for my daily skin maintanance. I do use the 2% version of this on my arms for KP and on my face pre-period to stave-off breakouts.

I prefer the 2% BHA solution to the 1% BHA gel. Seems like the gel makes me breakout a little and doesn't seem to clear my pores as well as the solution. The only reason I use it is because my cheeks don't like the 2% Solution all the time, as it can be too drying. The gel is a bit gentler in that respect. Haven't tried the 2% BHA Gel yet, but I hear it's even more likely to cause breakouts due to the thickner Hydroxyethylcellulose.

I have always had pretty good skin, but in my quest for soft and ultra smooth skin i thought i needed an AHA/BHA in my life.
Well, i dont know now ... i used this everyday and night for a week and i broke out terribly ... on my cheek! I never get pimples on my cheek.

BUT - I wrote to Paula's Choice and they said that i prob overdid it so i have reduced it to every second night only ... lets see how i go.

I do want this to work out for me (and the parts that didnt break out are smooth) so i will keep on with it.

This really worked well on my skin to clear out my pores but also broke me out at the same time, I really noticed how clean my pores were. The silicone in it broke me out so now I'm on the hunt for a 1% BHA without silicone.

This is one of the greatest products I have bought for my face. Almost everything makes my sensitive, pale skin turn red and blotchy and not only does this not irritate my skin, it makes my skin look so much smoother and minimizes my pores.

It does need some time to sink in, if I put makeup on too quickly it can feel sticky. I generally don't use moisturizer during the day and when I have put moisturizer on top of the gel it does feel a bit greasy and sticky.

I use this product every evening, before putting on the PC antioxidant treatment and moisturizer. It really makes my skin look healthy, clean and radiant. My pores seem to look a lot smaller too and blackheads are nearly gone. Highly recommended.

Oh, how disappointed I am in this product. The gel didn't sink in, it just dried into a stiff, slightly shiny film on my face, and after a few weeks of use, I'm not noticing any difference in my skin. A major misstep in an otherwise nice line of products.

a big no no. This one caused major irritation, flaky skin. Didn't improve the texture of my skin. Totally dissapointing product.

I tried this product for over a month and nothing happen. I have combinational skins and I have blackheads on my nose and I really hoped this product will help me get rid of them, but unfortunately that didn't happen. It didn't minimize my pores and it didn't lessen the number of blackheads, I don't know if it's because I should get the 2% version. So I will definitely not buy this product again and I will try the 2% instead.

I bought this 1% Gel, as l had tried the 1% BHA Liquid Solution and it did nothing for my skin. I love the gel, after a week of every other night use l can see the improvement already. I don't have a major concern with blackheads, a few on my nose area, and can hardly notice them anymore. It also made extraction of the blackheads easier. Love this product and would repurchase.

Update: Have been using this every night and 6 weeks l have found l am not getting the hormonal breakouts l usually get every month.

Great product! I received my PC order about four days ago, so I'll have to update after a bit more use, but I wanted to go ahead and write my review because I'm so happy!
I was concerned this would dry out my skin, but so far I haven't experienced any of that. The only thing it's dried out is my blemishes. My skin has been much, much clearer in the past few days, which is wonderful.
I'm not a fan of salicylic acid as it's never worked for me in the past, but I suspect it was because the products I was using were not the right pH (as Paula says!). My ultimate goal is to only use this every other night, or on the nights when I've got blemishes popping up on my skin.

Yuck!!worst product ever. I have oily, sensitive, acne-prone skin. This 1% BHA gel made my skin become even worse.I use it everyday, then changed to every other day, but my face's not getting better. pimples, dry/flaky skin, and still super oily at the same time. and clogged pores also. I can't believe it, Paula Begoun "The Cosmetic Cop" made such bad product!

I love this stuff! I have oily acne-prone skin and somewhat sensitive and this has definitely kept my breakouts down to a minimum. No irritation whatsoever. Makes my face feels soft and smooth. A lil bit goes a long way so this bottle should last me for a long time and the price is decent. I use this at night and I wake up to better looking skin every morning.

this product is nice...no smell and even w/ my oily skin there's no extra shine. for me it's really helped with the acne...i like to alternate between this and the 2% liquid. much better skin!!!! i am through looking for "acne" treatments.

Yet another P.C. product that works wonders for my skin. I use it every morning as a preventative exfolliant/treatment and haven't had any problems w/ peeling or sensitivity (though my skin isn't all that sensitive to begin with). Here's what this stuff does for me: 1) keeps all breakouts to a minimum and 2) leaves my skin smooth (esp. around the nose). Clear, smooth skin--what more could you ask for? I also use her One-Step cleanser (2x a day), One-Step toner (at night), and 8% AHA solution (at night as needed).

This product did a great job of getting my acne under control and keeping my pores clean. However, I didn't like the watery texture and the sticky feeling it left on my skin. I prefer the Paula's Choice 1% BHA Lotion.
UPDATE: I have switched to PC 2% BHA Liquid. For my reasons, see my review of it.

Ingredients: Water, Methylpropanediol, Salicylic Acid 1%, Green Tea Extract, Butylene Glycol, Polysorbate-20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Willowherb Extract, Green Tea Leaf Extract, Bisabolol, Purslane Extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide.

I hate this product. Even if I use it sparingly and give it PLENTY of time to dry, it rubs off into gross little flakes when I put on my foundation. YUCK! That being said, I adore Paula's 2% BHA -LOTION- and highly recommend it!

I've been using this once a day for almost a week now and unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's for me. Since using it, my skin has become unbelievably dry and itchy (SO itchy that it keeps me awake every night). My acne (which is mild-moderate) does not seem to have improved. In fact, since yesterday, it has gotten progressively worse. I'm going to give it another week before I decide whether to give up. Will keep you updated.
