This is a great clay mask. I costumize it by putting 3 squirts of cleansing milk, and 8 squirts of facial toner. Its wonderful for acne, and it leaves you feeling natural and smooth. Thank god for Dr. Hauschka! The reason i gave it 4 lippies, is because it leaves you a little dry afterwards.

Usually before applying this mask a tak e a facial steam bath for 5-10 mins. Then, directly afterwards, i apply this. I find that it gives me better results, like the clean is deeper.

Occasionaly, (i do this with my other masks too) when i do this mask, if my eyes need a bit of "reviving" i use eye solace. i duno i just thought i would throw that in too. this is just some suggestions for those who want to enjoy the pampering part of this mask!

This combined with the steam bath work so much better for my skin than any other clay mask I've tried before. It really does deep cleanse the pores. With the help of Dr. Hauschka products I've lost the need to go in for a facial cleansing treatment every month.

i use the mask after the facial steam bath and the two works really well together. the first time or two it was difficult to mix it to the right consistency, but now i've gotten the hang of it. everytime i use to i try to leave it on for only 15 minutes at most (which is the longest recommanded time), and i also keep it moist because the mask only works when it stays moist.

a great great product. very expensive but i will definitely repurchase.

This mask is in a glass or clay jar, for sure some heavy material. I agree with the previous reveiwer, they should provide a small spoon to guide us in how much we need and make usage that much easier.
As for the results, well, I couldn't be without it! It is a great treat for yourself, and if you have oily skin with blackheads that just won't go away no matter how much you squeeze, (which is the worst thing you can do ladies!) this mask will take care of it. At least it did for me, and I have those annoying blackheads that are level with the skin around my nose, and if I try to squeeze them out they won't budge and the area will just get inflamed! You can really feel the mask pulling out the impurities, and after a while you can see that the clay has these oily spots on it, which indicates that the blackhead/oiliness has been extracted and absorbed into the clay. It gave my family a fright when I first used it due to the colour! I excused it by saying it is totally natural, and they replied that "Well it looks like something else totally natural!" So you might wanna take some time for yourself when you use this mask ;) I use it once a week max, it has lasted me 3 months and I am not more than halfway yet! I really like the fact that they have a refill, makes it much cheaper and better for the environment!

Thank goodness this product does not smell the way it looks. One reviewer described the color as baby poop, which is accurate but once it dries it looks like parched dirt. For a clay mask this washes off instantly in a splash, which was a pleasant surprise. No other clay mask I've used comes off so easily as this one. I felt slight tightness of the skin after wash off (should be this way) but it wasn't irritating at all. There is instant smoothness and the redness from acne is kicked back a few notches. Some kaolin clay masks have made my eyes hurt and teary but not this one.
I did not use it after Facial Steam Bath--but a regular over-the-sink steam intake was a nice prep.
I followed this mask up w/ DH's Clarifying Toner and immediatley patted on light moisturizer. My face still felt dry but when you touch it it's perfectly moisturized and not oily, and in fact soft. The powder in the jar is extremely cumbersome; at least for the price Dr. Hauschka should provide a scooping spoon of some sort! Hate that there is powder debris everywhere inside box and around lid. They have got to repackage this!
I'll update later with overall effect after consistent usage....

I had a trial sachet of this in the oily skin kit - I applied this after using the facial steam bath, and woke up to facial armageddon the next day! Breakout central - I didn't want to leave the house! Lots of origins spot lotion and the Dr Hauschka revitalising mask has calmed things down (4 days later!) but I really was not expecting the purging I got from this mask. I will use the mask one more time, just to see, but I'm making sure I don't schedule in any hot dates or social arrangements in the following few days! On the upside, my pores look smaller, but as I'm using the Dr H regime in its entirety at the moment, I'm not sure which products are causing this positive result!

I concur with other members, this mask is incredibly expensive (especially in New Zealand, where Dr H products are at least 60% more expensive than in Europe, and the refill of this mask costs $50NZD!!). This is my holy grail mask!! Depending on how much of a deep cleanse I am wanting, I can either mix a light or heavy mixture and leave it to dry or keep it moist, or let it dry and rewet several times. I have read many negative reviews of this mask, because it is so drying and it causes horrific breakouts. This mask is NOT meant to be allowed to dry, because the loess clay is incredibly drawing, I can literally feel all the sebum plugs and white heads coming out of my skin as I am rinsing this mask off. And I must warn those who want to try this mask, if you dare to leave this mask on for 30 minutes, by keeping it slightly moist (don't let it dry completely as it starts to cause itching and flakes off), then you will experience the worst purging in your life. Now, you must not somehow correlate the use of this mask to be the CAUSE of purging because the mask is only drawing out what is lying under your skin and would otherwise rise to the surface slowly and form zits eventually or stay in the skin to create blocked pores. I don't want to get into a life-lecture here, but if you do experience a great deal of purging, consider changing your regular skincare range (product build up) and your diet too! I have overhaulled my diet, lifestyle and skincare, and now I can use this mask 3 times a week and only get 2-3 large zits (which I spot treat and it disappears immediately).

This is a very expensive mask, but worth the money. I am surprised that this broke anyone out. I have very sensitive skin and this mask has been only good to me. I try to use it once a week after exfoliating and steaming my face. I mix it with water only- 1 tsp of mask and 1 tsp of water. It's kind of runny that way. I leave it on until its all dry and follow it with Zia's moisture mask. It's wonderful. The day after I use it my skin looks amazingly smooth. I look in the mirror and think "I have nice skin" or "I'm pretty" (not things I think very often otherwise). I really wanted this mask to be average because I don't like the idea of having to re-purchase since it is very expensive, but none-the-less I can't avoid the results. This is an excellent mask for cleaning and shrinking pores. I will repurchase. (By the way, it lasts a LONG time.)

This is a pretty nice mask. When I'm being diligent about skincare, I use it once a week. Typically, however, I end up using it once a month when my skin starts to freak out about something. I find this pretty soothing even though I have sensitive skin. It doesn't seem too drying, although I always put moisturizer on afterwards. It definitely seems to cleanse my skin and clear out my pores a bit, and leaves my skin glowing for about an hour. The effect doesn't last as long as the Firming Mask, which I think is a superior (tho' more expensive) product. The packaging and application with the clay mask is a little fussy, however. You have to blend the dry clay mixture with water and a little of your moisturizer, and it takes a few tries to get the right ratio of ingredients. I make this w/o the moisturizer unless I'm using it right before bed. I also add only a little water at a time, as I like it quite thick. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then gently rinse it off with cool water. I think this is more gentle than other clay masks, but as it's kind of expensive, it's not a staple or HG product.

This is a fabulous product. I use it especially as a spot treatment on my zits, or even worse, my white-heads, and is really does dry them up really nicely. The day after I apply this product, the size is significantly smaller, and less noticeable. Tackles the biggest of zits well, and takes care of the smaller ones as well. DEFINITELY BUY THIS PRODUCT- YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. But I would suggest applying it only to your more oilier face parts, as it might be a tad too drying if you do have your dry spots. (Which I do.) Oh, and a few more notes, I do NOT use the facial steam bath- I don't really think it does anything. And, I have combination skin, with my cheeks being dry and sensitive, and my T-zone is typical teen, with the occasional break out.

I am rather indifferent to this product. It didn't make me break out, but it also didn't do anything to improve my skin either. I've used it several times now, and I never see a difference. I have normal skin, but I like clay masks to keep my pores small and to maintain a more matte appearance (control oil). This didn't seem to do much of anything. It just smells like dirt and you have to mix it yourself. If you mix it too lightly, it won't stay on your face; too heavy and it hardly dries. I am going to try something else. Maybe Burt's Bees. UPDATE: I was wrong. It did make me break out! I gave it to a friend... maybe she will have better luck with it. I got three zits on my face the morning after I used it. Definitely NOT a repurchase!

This is the only Hauschka product that I wasn't impressed with. I get the same results - for far less money - by using plain bentonite clay.

I have normal/combination skin and use this about once a week. I live in pollution-heavy London and find that this is about right. It IS pretty drying (although you could add less powder as you mix it yourself...), but this does mean that the improvement to my skin tone is almost instant! To offset the dryness I find that following with the Rose Day cream works well (although it is too heavy and greasy for everyday use). The mask works really well at drying out spots that are already on the surface of the skin, but the best route to ensuring that they don't occur in the first place, seems to rely more on what you put into your body. I buy this regularly and will continue to do so. Anything that seems to 'mop up' excess grease can only be recommended!

I was actually out to buy the rejuvenating mask, but I bought the wrong one and came home with this mask! But after having used it a few times I am quite happy with it! It is not very cheap but I think it will last for a long time.

I especially like this mask since it feels so natural, and does not dry out the skin, it only makes it look better.

I don't really like te packaging, because I am always afraid I will drop the jar and spill out all of the powder on the floor... But I guess I only have to be a bit careful.

This is one of my all time favorite masks. I have oily-combo skin that is very prone to breaking out but also is sensitive and dry at spots. This has been a holy grail in terms of gently yet extremely effective deep-cleaning and detoxifying. It leaves my face incredibly radiant, smooth, clear and even-toned. I use this about 1-2 times a week and it has been an absolute life-saver in keeping the breakouts away.

Didn't particularly like the product but found a couple ways to make it a bit more effective for me...tried mixing it up using the Dr. Haushka toner, instead of water, and found it to be much more effective during summer months on my T-zone and during the winter, used a Tablespoon or so of the Facial Steam water to mix it up while my face was steaming. Using plain water seemed to produce a product that was fine for that temporary tightening feeling you get after using a good mask...without, that is, any drying effects. However, it never did anything great for my clogged pores. The extra solutions may have produced better results purely as a coincidence, but the results seemed consistent. I'm guessing it's a fine product and just not the right one for my face even though I have used nearly all the other products recommended for my skin type with a fair degree of success. I'm sending it to my brother who is nearly as big a product junkie as I am so we'll see what he has to say.
