If you use this product correctly you should not end up with greasy hair. This is only for the Roots!!!!! Use a comb and separate the layers of your hair and lightly spray your roots only. My hair dresser turned me on to this product and showed me how to use it correctly. You should not over use, just in the root areas that need some left. I have very fine hair that easily can get matted and this product makes my hair "lift" and looks 5x fuller on top.

Very blah. I don't know if it's because of the humidity of my climate or just the way I use it, but this does absolutely nothing for my hair. And I gave it many chances! Used it with dry hair- nothing. Damp hair after a shower- nada. Spraying at different angles didn't work either. Waste of money and dresser space. Smell is okay, but performance is extremely poor.

My hair has been thinning for a while now and this is the only product that makes my hair look like it used to. It is a bit sticky, but I don't mind. I find that if I spray it on my roots when they're still a tad damp, it doesn't get quite as sticky and hard.

Horrible product! It is very drying and sticky. Blech..

This product was awful. I bought the trial size of it. The scent is very unpleasant and when I applied it to my damp hair and dried it, my hair was so disgusting! It left my hair sticky and greasy. I will not buy this product again! I am surprised it received such great reviews...maybe I got a bad bottle of it?
Wont try again though...

LOVE this stuff. I've been using it for a couple of years and can't stand styling my hair when I'm out of it. I was told it was the "Wonder Bra" for your hair and I think that's a great description.

This stuff gives the top of my hair volume. The only thing I don't like is the sticky feeling.

This is a HG product for me. I love this root volumizer for my fine straight hair. Does not leave hair feeling stiff, crunchy or dry. Can apply to just the roots or all over for a fuller feel.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Fair-Medium Hair: Blond Eyes: Blue
This is the only product that volumizes my somewhat fine, blonde hair. My stylist introduced me to it three years ago and it's been my HG styling product ever since. I like the spray feature, because it keeps my hands from getting sticky while styling and allows for precise application at the roots. I recently went on vacation for a few days and forgot this stuff, and tried out my friends' got2b and herbal essences brands of mousse, which showed me how amazing Guts is in comparison. I'll never try another volumizing product as long as this is on the market.

LOVE this!! I have fine hair but a lot of it. I can direct the spray to my roots. Also, it cuts down on the amount of hairspray I use since it has just enough hold for me. Definitely is a must-have!!!

I was first introduced to Redken Guts when I had a perm and I have loved it since. I now have straight hair and still use it to give me curl on days I want the curled wet look. I spray on and scrunch. It also can add great volume.. apply.. blow dry upside down.
This is great if you have very straight hair and want the curled wet look once in awhile!

Guts gave my fine, medium length, straight hair decent volume but itís not the HG, knock your socks off volume Iíve been searching for. On the plus side it didnít leave my hair feeling dry, crunchy, sticky or cause flakes. I would repurchase unless I find something better.

Did nothing for my medium-length, slightly fine hair except weigh it down. I'm planning on trying the Ojon thickening spray gel since it has gotten some good reviews recently.

My hairdresser used this on me when she blew out my hair. Can't stand the kiwi-like scent. Did nothing for me.
EDIT 10/24/08-Tried this again a few years later. It does seem to work if you just apply it to the roots and blow dry up and away. The scent no longer bothers me. I don't even notice it now. Added one lippie.

i was very un-impressed with this product. all the stylists at work swear by it so i decided to give it a shot as i love to have huge hair and was sick of teasing. i tried it 3 times and it just didn't do it for me. i'm not particularly fond of foam so that was some of it but it just didn't give me the lift i was looking for. i went to the redken bodyfull weightlifter, much better.

I just got this product today after reading MUA reviews, and I have to agree that this is a pretty good product. Not HG, but almost--if it gave more volume it would definitely achieve HG status. I find that I get more body from TiGi Catwalk Root Boost, but that the Root Boost makes my hair somewhat dull (the shiny vs. full hair conundrum). Guts gave me some volume but my hair was still shiny, which is definitely a major plus, and also it feels nicer than when I use Root Boost. So, I will use Guts most days but Root Boost for when I need a little extra volume. UPDATE: I used more product today and got more volume (makes sense, I guess), so I upped it one lippie. It is important to note that there is NO WAY that you could use this product without blowdrying your hair quickly afterwards and using a bristle brush. Using more product did make my hair less smooth but the shine is still pretty good.

i really like this - after having used Catwalk Root Boost and Graham Webb root boost, i feel like those just made my hair crunchy if i didn't blow dry right away = this stuff doesn't but still does its job!

Amazing-I have fine hair and use it all of the time. It gives my hair body without making it gunky. I even put it on when my hair is wet and let it air dry and it still does the job. One of the best hair products I have ever found. (I buy it at trade secrets and they do 20% tuesdays before 11)

Definitely gives my hair some guts. If you're looking for just volume, then I'd look at something else. I have long, thin hair and it gives it a decent amount of volume, but mostly adds the texture it needs. I don't use it all the time, but it's a decent product.
Age: 30-35 Skin: Normal Hair: Red Eyes: Brown
For some reason this stuff creates the opposite of volume in my hair! I spray my roots and my hair takes an eternity to dry. I have very fine color treated hair and this stuff doesn't work in my hair when I blow it straight, and lacks the hold for me to scruch with it. I'm glad I bought the small travel size to test it out. Not the right product for me.
