I tried a lot of Aveda products but this is the only one that I stuck with. For some reason my skin is always better in the morning when I have used this the night before. I now use all Avene products for sensitive skin but always use this Aveda exfoliant at night. I agree with a previous review about the glass bottle, it's the weight of it that bothers me. I will keep repurchasing.

I have been using this exfoliant for a couple years now. I'm so impressed how it clears up any blemishes and makes my skin glow.
I used to use it every night, but now discovering how very dry my skin is I can only use this exfoliant once or twice a week.
Because this product contains alcohol, I'm sure this exfoliant has contributed to my very dry skin. But I just LOVE it for keeping my skin clear. I'm 32, and though I'm not prone to too many blemishes, I've had three babies in under four years and I would get the odd flair-up of zits/pimples due to hormonal fluctuations. I haven't used any other BHA type of exfoliants before so I can't compare, but this one is highly effective. If you have sensitive skin or dry skin, be careful not to overuse!!

This is an EXCELLENT product. I have used it for more than 3 years now, and I've always kept coming back to it. I use it on an average of 1/week, and more often when I have breakouts. It does an amazing job at clarifying, brightening, evening out my skintone, and toning down oiliness in times when my skin acts up. It has a great scent to it, and is VERY gentle. The one downfall is it's expensive price-tag -- but it works extremely well.

This is an alright exfoliator, and a good toner. Some reviewers say this isn't an exfoliator. It may not work as well as some, but the reason it's called an exfoliant is because it has a small amount of salicylic acid in it. I have mildly oily skin in some areas, and I use this because it's so hard to find a naturally derived salicylic acid. I use this at night in place of just a normal toner. It smells good (it might be a little overpowering if you're not used to botanical scents or have really sensitive skin), and I think it works well. I do wish it had a better top to the bottle. It just has a screw plastic cap and when you unscrew it it's just an open top to the bottle. Maybe I'm just spoiled by my DHC toner and it's small applicator opening. Also, for all Aveda says about being environmentally friendly, this bottle is not recyclable to most places, which really disappoints me. It's kind of expensive but it comes in a large bottle so you at least feel like you're getting your money's worth. I recommend trying this or at least smelling it before you buy it. It works well, though. :)

This isn't really very exfoliating, but it's a decent toner. It smells good and didn't bother my sensitivve skin. It's one of the better toners I've used, and the matching face wash is good too.

I think the name exfoliator is a bit of a misnomer for this product; I think it acts more like a mild astringent. That said, it does seem to clean things up and definately removes anything your cleanser might have left behind. It works well on my normalish skin and would be good for anyone who has oily, normal, combo or slightly dry skin. People with really dry skin or sensitive skin might be irratated by it. Overall, it removes any residue and excess oil without stripping skin and a bottle lasts a long time!

I have an embarassing confession to make about this product. I bought it for my hooha. Well, the skin around it.
I go to an Aveda spa. My bikini waxer uses a soy-based organic wax and it's helped dramatically with my ingrown hairs. But, I was still getting a few of them in between visits to the spa, and I was getting frustrated. I vented to my waxer and she recommended this product for the sensitive skin on my bikini line. I'd tried things before -- exfoliating with a dry washcloth, Bikini Zone gel, diaper cream, deoderant, etc. Nothing helped. In a fit of desperation, I shelled out the $17 for something I'd eventually be dabbing where the sun don't shine. (To be fair, you get 5 fl. oz.-- a pretty good price for such a giant bottle.) I started using this liquid exfoliant and *presto!* hardly any ingrowns, ever. I haven't actually tried it on my face (I have really sensitive skin, and am scared of toners.) But it works wonders on the ingrowns. I think I've had 2 or 3 in the entire year I've been using it.
So, it's a weird review, and a weird way to use this product, but totally worth it!

This is the best exfoliating toner I have ever used and it truely has rescued my skin! I have blemish prone skin that was really red and splotchy but after using this once a night for a month (turn over three times onto a cotton square) my face is so much more even- toned and healthy looking. My breakouts have also been occuring less frequently and there are none of those painfully huge planet ones. I used to be completely skeptic about the toning step but now I am addicted to this product and I will make sure this will always be with me and included into my nighttime regime. My only issue with this product is the packaging: I wish it came with a cute little squirt top instead of having to tip the whole thing over. I haven't checked yet, maybe they sell the squirt tops at my Aveda spa/salon. :) This is an absolute must and even Tyra Banks uses this line! (She uses the lotion :P) Try this and within 3-4 weeks, say hello to more radiant, youthful, healthy skin.

This is a toner so I'm not sure why they say it exfoliates - but as a toner it seems quite good. It helps to remove residue left behind after washing and it smells lovely. It is not strong so there is no stinging, over drying or blotchiness. Only negative is the glass bottle which is not the best for bathroom purposes when hands can be slippery.

I used this product years ago & loved it. I recently repurchased...did they change the formula? I seemed to remember it being stronger...maybe it had more salicylic acid or witch hazel back then? Did it used to have alcohol? I remember it used to "sink in" to my skin a lot quicker. Now it just sits there like water. Anyway, back the Aveda this goes...

I really don't know if I'd buy it again. Like another poster noted, at best, it's making a small change for my skin (nothing I can notice). At worst, I dropped $16+ ( don't remember the exact price) on some witch hazel that smells amazing. It doesn't make my skin worse. But after six months, and three climate and seasonal changes, I don't know if the improvements to my skin have come from this toner.

4 lippies because this has the tendency to dry my skin when used all the time. I love it because it is fantastic with clearing out blemishes. I use this twice a week at night when battling a breakout and use only once or twice a month as a part of a home facial. This contains salicylic acid, with hazel, balm mint extract and alcohol. Has a mild, aromatic scent that is unmistakably aveda. I love that it is packaged in a dark green bottle; price is affordable.

I love this. My HG toner. I tired out the travel size first to check it out and then I bought the expensive economy size which comes with a pump. Very useful and this will last me a long time!

Great exfoliant with out the mess of a scrub! Takes away just as many dead skin cells with Salisylic Acid (.5 %).

Wonderful basic non-irritating BHA exfoliant. Used every night, I find I have significantly fewer clogged pores on my cheeks. Unfortunately, it has not gotten rid of my blackheads nor the little clogged pores around the lips, but when my skin is feeling dry and sensitive, I'll take a few less clogged pores over lots of them - meaning, I use this when my skin can't handle a stronger BHA solution. Refreshing feel to it as well.

This is my staple exfoliant. I have come back to this over and over again as it works so effectively. The only thing is that since this has BHAs, I need to remember that if I want to use AHAs at night. I use this about every other day, and has consistently performed for me.
