STR8 is a series, not a product. I am reporting about Protective Shine Spray. It is useful for either blow drying or ironing (see reviews for flatiron protector, a different product).
It made my hair shiny, soft, and smells nice. It, like the spray expressly for flatironing, is flammable so extinguish candles, etc. before use and until it has dried. Received as gift, don't know price.

The reason why I ever purchased this product is the fact that my stylist used it on my hair. I always love my hair after I leave my stylist. I wish I could have a professional blow-dry every night. I don't know if it is the product so much as the type of straightening iron or brush you use. I personally have a CHI and I don't think Str8 has such a good affect if you don't use it in combination with good tools. I continue to use it but am not sure how much it actually helps. I would recommend nonetheless.

I have medium-length, somewhat wavy hair that tends to be frizzy and flat, but this stuff gives my hair amazingly sleek, full texture. I find it works best with a round brush. I've been using it for about 2 years and my hair looks 100 times better on the days I remember to use it. If your hair is really curly or baby fine, this apparently doesn't work, but to create a sleek straight look with hair like mine, you can't beat it, especially for the price.

This is a nice straightener - not the best i've ever tried but still good. Its a bit expensive but rusk makes nice products. I find it tends to leave a residue on my straightening iron and doesnt come out as nice as when i use the redken straightening cream. I may buy again, but probably not.

I sprayed this on the sections of my dry hair before I flat ironed them. It made my hair straighter than ever! The smell isn't bad in my opinion. Why i didn't give it a 5 is because after alot of use of it my hair seemed a bit dry. But I will buy again.

Ditto what some others have said here. This seems to dry out your hair and cause frizz. I don't care if a product straightens if the ultimate result is hair that is in less healthy condition than before. I love Rusk Moist Shampoo and Rusk Apricot and Sunflower Leave in Conditioner, however, which are two great moisturizing products. I have fine hair.

This stuff was aweful. I couldn't stand the smell, it was so strong and aweful. It made my hair feel like straw and stiff. What a waster of money. I don't plan on using this agian.

I like this product and love the smell.
Very clean
I have naturally curly hair and with the humid weather it tames it down and removes some of the curl (now to find a great curl enhancer and I'll be all set)
AND..the next day after wearing it curly the one day - it made it easier to flat iron my hair.
so I get two looks in two days and not have to wash until the third.
with curly hair I go at least 2-3 days without washing. Washing strips my hair.
I do like this product though

It straightened my hair, but really dried it out. My hair had the texture of straw after using it for a few days and it made my hair look lifeless. It smells terrible. I would not recommend this product.

I first used Rusk Str8 in the distant, shadowy pre-MUA days when I bought whatever the hairstylist recommended. Back then, I wanted it to smooth out and help straighten my curly-wavy hair, and while it did cut frizz, it wasn't very good at straightening even with a hairdryer. I recently re-discovered it, and have been using a dab of it in towel-dried hair, combing through and letting dry undisturbed, and find that it works really well as a curl-definer and cuts frizz in humid weather. No poofy, flyaway waves. A friend who has natural spiral curls also likes it.

I used this for the first time today, and so far I am pleased. The smell is not my cup of tea, it reminds me of CK1, but the scent doesn't really linger. It straightened my super thick wavy hair very nicely once I blew it dry, but it did feel a little fluffy and parched. Nothing some leave in conditioner or shine serum can't fix, though. While it worked well, I don't think I would purchase again as I'm sure I can find a similar product for less money.

I used this three times before finally giving up. This stuff makes my thick, dry, highlighted hair feel like STRAW and frizzy. I love the smell but unfortunately, that's the only thing it has going for it. I didn't have much shine at all. I would recommend this for people who have fine hair as this doesn't have much hold.

EWIE! This product smells like nail polish remover and does absolutely NOTHING! It made my hair frizzy and it made it stick out in all the wrong places. And word of all, when I woke up the next morning, my hair was one big KNOT! I couldn't get a brush through it, and in order to get it detangled I had to get in the shower and put a ton of conditioner through it! THIS PRODUCT IS HORRIBLE AND I WILL NEVER BUY IT AGAIN!

this stuff has a really nice scent. it goes on hair smooth, its a bit sticky but evens out well. you definitely need to use it sparingly. i think i put a bit to much on the first time around so it made my hair a bit flat, but definitely kept it straight and decreased frizzies. will update more when i use it more.

This stuff didn't really do anything for my curly hair. It didn't straighten them nor eliminated the frizz. Dissapointing.

This product does an average job of straightening my thick, wavy hair. But the end result feels awful. My hair feels dry and stick. It looks OK, but it feels dirty and I can't wait to wash my hair afterwards. I'd give it a 2.5.

I didn't buy this, the stylist used it for a blowout. Now, you know a product is crappy and does not live up to its claim when a professional cannot even get your completely hair straight with it. And my hair is only naturally wavy - it certainly is not super curly! There are MUCH better styling products out there than this!
