Oh, what a great product!! I was so sceptical, but after all the raves I read here (and superb experience with other Sisley products) I tried it and am so glad I did!

It comes in a jar (Europe) with a spatula already included. The smell is weird if you smell the creme in the jar, but once you put it on it smells... mmmh! This is what I imagine heaven must smell like! I know the smell, but I'm not sure what it is. Maybe Geranium or anything like it? I don't remember, but it's so lovely!

Once applied it dries down, afterwards you buff it off with your fingers. I thought stuff like this really can't be gentle, but it is! It's as gentle or even gentler than my beloved Chanel scrub.

It's not only gentle, it's effective as well. Removed my blackheads and leaves my skin so soft, so glowing, so great. What a wonderful product!!

If you just want a scrub, I think you really don't have to purchase this, as there are other scrubs out there doing their job for less money. But if you want a SCRUB, with the whole spa experience, relaxation and gentle cleansed, glowing skin, AND have some money left, then go and get this, you won't regret it.

***Update March 15, 2005***

I don't use this anymore. I switched to glycolics to treat my kp so I figured that an extra scrub would be just too much. If I want to use a scrub I use something faster like [insert your fave easy-to-use-scrub here]. This one is just so much hassle to use. It's still nice though. I took one lippie off because the scent (which I loved so much when I got this) now makes me feel sick.

Have used a sample of this and I quite like it. I was told to apply a thin layer to my face, wait for 2 mins then gently buff off. Left my skin feeling super soft and the exfoliating particles wernt too abraisive either. Will most likely purchase this after I finish using my grainless YSL exfoliator.

BEST scrub ever!!
I just purchase my third tubes.
Yes, it is expensive. But it worth every penny you spend. Even I have sensative combination skin but it work for me.

A HUGE disappointment! This scrub was so incredibly HARSH to my skin, I just couldn't believe it was Sisley. Their products are generally supposed to be gentle enough for sensitive skins. It left my skin ultra-dry and dehydrated. Disaster! Ugghhh...
*****UPDATE (01/26/2005): I have to update my rating here. Last year when I wrote this review I had a very bad experience with Sisley Botanical Gentle Buffing Cream. It was not gentle at all and left my skin red, dry and irritated. I got a new sample recently (almost didn't want to take it) and tried it again. It must be that my skin is in much better condition this winter (probably because I've finally found day & night skincare that really suits me and I use only very gentle cleansing products) so, this time my impression about this product is much more positive. Gentle Buffing Cream is definitely not as gentle as Kanebo Silk Peeling Powder (which I use) but it exfoliates better. This time it left my skin noticeably brightened, very polished and smooth. Yes, it is a bit drying (comparing to Kanebo Silk Peeling Powder) but still leaves the skin very smooth and like a baby skin to the touch. The one thing that I definitely don't like is the smell!*****UPDATE (again!), April, 2005.: I gave it another chance because I have some samples left - it is definitely too harsh and I would never buy it. It is probably OK for young and oilier skins. It exfoliates very well but it irritates dry or more sensitive skins, too. 3 lippies.

I think this buffing cream is a bit too harsh for my skin, yes, it does scrub well and thus my face felt smoother but I also felt that it stinged me a bit and my skin couldn't take this more than once a week. I have thin skin with mild sensitivity.

This is probably the best exfoliating mask I have ever used. While it is VERY expensive for the size, it does the job beautifully. It takes off 2-3 layers of dead skin. My face has never felt so soft - all from using this product. The softness lasts for days, too. You are supposed to use this product every 2-3 days, but I can get away with weekly.

I dunno why but Sisley products really beat hands & feets down!! I really have no complains with all the Sisley products I've bought.

So this buffing cream is no exception. Definitely feels cleaner after exfoliation. But digging the cream out from the jar is tricky & messy. They should do it in a tube form in my opinion.

I only use it once a week as I feel that its abit harsh for my sensitive skin but it works nonetheless. So maybe you girls out there would like to dump your drugstore scrub & invest in a jar of Sisley buffing cream.

Updated 16 Feb 2004 --> My skin is getting used to it all thanks to a good facial regime. So highly recommend it to dry sensitive skin :)

This is one of the best exfoliators I have ever used, but use this only once a week. It really gets the grit off, and my face feels very smooth after using it. However, I am disappointed in the new packaging of it. I used to get it in a jar. The last time I purchased it, it came in a tube, and everything had separated. I wrote toSisley about a month ago and have yet to hear from them. Bottom line: if you can get it in a jar, it's worth the $75 (it lasts about a year if you use it only once a week); if your only choice is a tube, I'd ask for a sample or ask about a product guarantee.

name: Botanical Gentle Facial Buffing Cream
size: jar 50ml

Firstly - i have combinational skin with the occasional break outs on my cheeks and or forehead, but my skin is also on the sensitive side, there are products that ive tried and leave me with a burning sensation or leaves the more delicate skin around my nose and under my eyes (on the higher parts of my cheekbones) feeling itchy, tight and irritated (hence a flareup).

anyway, i quite like this product, along with sisley's moisturiser with cucumber (again no allergic reaction). i use it once or twice a week (at most) and tend to use it in the evening when i want to pamper myself or have a lot of time to perform the following "ritual".

i apply a thin layer with my finger tips and leave on for about 5-10minutes to ensure that its dry (one time it wasnt dry enough and the effects weren't so great), then in a slightly downward diagonal motion drag my fingers inwards towards the center of my face - briskly sloughing off the dried mask & dead skin.

then i usually rinse with water or wipe off the residue with (clarins iris) toner. the outcome was quite positive and i noticed that my skin felt more smooth and looked a little brighter.

im prepared to purchase this product as i quite like sisley products (despite the extortionate prices of sisley products) and this is the best exfoiliator ive come across so far (and trust me ive tried many!) since i had no allergic reaction the outcome was reasonable. ive only tried the sample so plan to buy it when i go to hk in sept.

[nb] i use this on my bf too and he surprisingly likes it too and is prepared to pay for it and he hates when i do facials on him!!! ^_^ haha

I am vvvvery happy with this product! I guess you would be like me if you are someone with very sensitive skin who cannot tolearte scrub normally. This one would be great for you. For each application, just apply very thin layer and then use your finger tips to gently rub, finally rinse with water. I found it looks so weird in the jar, but after I tried it -- Wow! AWESOME! My skin is sooo clear but not irrated as usual if I use some scrubs. Mind you some facial massage could be very harsh for me - last time I tried once at the Shiseido's Beauty Centre, the SA might do it to hard, my veins became more visible. I have no problem with the Buffing Cream tho - this suggest it's cool and very mild! I read PC's homepage says this cream worths for a penny or maybe two at most since it's not suitable for all skin type - that's not true and I wondered if that's jealous???
Update: I've found using it twice each week is too harsh for my skin, so I use it once only but I need another mild scrub ... thus, I decided not to purchase again. Basically, it's a pretty good product.

I received a sample of this after a purchase and was very impressed. I was skeptical about using a grain based exfoliator since my skin does not like these things. However, this made my skin glow and gave me a nice matte finish. I let it dry then scrubed very gently and rinsed. Of course I had to go back and buy it. I was adviced to only use once a week since I use the alpha beta peel. Another splurge, I rubbed it all over my body before applying self tanner and my skin was so smooth. It would be nice it they made the same thing in a body packaging. UPDATE: I had to give this to my sister as I started to use a glycolyc peel and this is a bit much. Nonetheless this is an excellent product.

I was told t his can be used every day, but I found it was a bit too strong, especially since I use AHA and BHA products as it is. It's a fine-grained exfoliator and while it was nice and did it's job, I felt it was a bit expensive since it's not that much different to other exfoliators
