As mentioned it contains gardenia, tuberose, jasmine, and roses...it is as if Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia and Givenchy's Amarige merged and added some rose. Both of these fragrances are a little old for me imo(mid-twenties) so I passed on Sand and Sable as well. Still, it is a smooth blend at a great price.

ICK... totally gardenia which I find sickningly sweet. Not sure how flowers tie in with the beach, but even if they did, I still wouldn't like this scent. Smells like the drug store cologe that it is.

I've been intrigued for awhile on this one. There was a sale on fragrances at Walgreens today and I bought an itsy bitsy bottle for $3.50. On me, it's straight up gardenia. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I dont' get anything tropical from it at all. It's cloying for certain. It's also clean. I might spray this and walk through it sometime to make sure that it gets in my hair, but I'm on the fence about putting it on my skin again. Incidentally, Walgreens also had body powder for the same price on several fragrances so if you like this one there could be some layering. This smells like a budget fragrance.

I spritzed this on one day after reading some good reviews but this one just died on me. It did remind me of the beach ... and how I smell after trudging through the tide pools and seaweed. Not a clean scent at all.

Its weird because gardenia and jasmine are two scents I don't like on their own but I love this scent! It does smell like the beach and I smell coconut as well. Its very light and warm and yummy. The only drugstore perfume I own and it is dirt cheap.

This smells like the beach to me, and I love it. I wear it most of the time. To me, it smells like coconut suntan lotion, but better.

I don't know why this is called Sand & Sable. If I were to name it I think I would call it ....hmmm...I don't know but Sable conjures up fur. This is not a furry scent. More like a sunny, clean scent. Sand & sun-dried cotton just doesn't have the same ring though, does it? I don't know but it is nice and I like it.

I had forgotten all about this fragrance until I found a couple of small stocking stuffer-type bottles for $3. I picked one up--and I wonder why I ever quit wearing this! It smells so pretty—and the husband loves it :) I imagine I quit buying it once I became a perfume snob, but I think this rates right up there with some of the more high-end perfumes.

After reading the reviews on here of this drugstore classic, I went to go try it out. I was not impressed.
I didn't smell anything tropical. I did smell gardenia, but on a Caro syrup base. At first, it was very strong and sweet and remained too strong for about 1/2 an hour, at which point it took a sudden turn and faded into a barely-there generic sweet smell. With this one, you can tell it's a drugstore scent. It's not offensive, just... cheap smelling and two-dimensional. I think those who gave it good reviews may have had their interpretation clouded with fond memories.
Lastly, the price was a shocker for a drug store fragrance-- $30 for about 1.5 oz. For twice the price, you can buy a gardenia 50 times better with Marc Jacob's Essence.

Shockingly classy for the price. Gardenia and jasmine, drying down to a soft and sexy musk. I got a gift pack of this which contains nearly 3 ounces of cologne, for just under $14 bucks. I actually use it as a body spray all over when I get out of the shower, and it gives my clothes the most delightful scent. Seasonless, clean and utterly charming.

Reminds me of the fall semester of my freshman year in high school when it first came out! Fresh, pretty, very unique fragrance. A happy, young scent. I tried some the other day at the drugstore and it hasn't changed a bit!

It takes me back to my high school years. I loved this perfume! I now wear Amarige because it reminds me Sand & Sable. It is the best drugstore scent I have ever smelled and if I could find it, I would buy a bottle just for the memories. Highly suggest trying it!

Heady florals are generally just not "me," and Fracas gave me nightmares, but S&S is wearable in light amounts. Very soapy upon first applying, then settles into something softer and musky. I got this for free from a friend who had 2 from a gift set, so I can't complain! Not something I would have bought, but I can see why people like this.

As most reviewers, I started wearing this fragrance in high school and throughout college. I always got lots of compliments and my husband said he loved the way it smelled on me (and he doesn't like most perfumes). Later on in my life, I began trying the newer fragrances and no compliments (and my husband complained that he missed the scent that always reminded him of me). So I started buying this fragrance again in my late 30's. As expected, the compliments began again and my husband is happy. What can I say - my HG fragrance! I will buy nothing else.

I used to wear this in the early 90's and couldn't live without it. I recently decided to become reconnected with it after smelling it on my sister. When she walked by me recently, a sweet, clean, exotic, aroma followed her. I couldn't place it right off so I asked her what she was wearing. When she said "Sand & Sable" I almost fell out the chair. It brought back some lovely memories for me. I had to go cop a bottle. This time, instead of buying the cologne spray, I bought the sensuos body lotion. I LOVE IT!. I'll be layering my best musk perfumes with this all summer long.

I think this smells very nice.
It has a soft creamy smell. Buttery is a good discription.
I think it's a little high priced for a drugstore perfume, but it's very pretty smelling and I would buy this.

I recently got a couple bottles of this on Ebay, and I really like it, even more than some expensive gardenia and/or tuberose perfumes, such as Fracas or Goutal's Gardenia Passion. As other reviewers have described it, Sand and Sable has an almost buttery quality that is very nice--it smells like a high-end perfume rather than a discount store one.
