The blusher color looks scary...kind of bruised color..but it glides on sheer to my cheeks and it looks great! more suitable for night look i guess cos of the pigmented and intensity of the color..this breath of plum blusher would probably suit girls who use alot of eye makeup, with smokey eyes etc..it's actually very sheer plum which consists of peachy/brown tones which appear nice on me.

however, it's not a MUST buy in my honest opinion...cos i prefer more peachy or pinkish blushers as i use very light makeup!

p.s i'm a NC25, Asian.

I swapped for this blush and at the first glance, thought "ugh, on the swap list it goes!"
In the pot it looks like a very cool, dirty, weird purple-pink shade. I thought, okay what the hell so a brushed some onto my cheeks and it was heaven! This gives a baby pink (barely plum) flush to my cheeks that lasts all day! I've gotten several compliments with this blush, don't let the first impression fool ya :-)

EDIT: all this time i've been trying to work with this blush.. but it's just too easy to mess up and make my face look all muddy. i went back to using CoverFX Golden Peach blush.. and it's sooooo easy and foolproof, i don't know why i wasted my time and money with this MAC blush. That being said, i won't toss it & i'll give it a try again in fall. i won't repurchase though. Here's my previous review.

Me: very dry skin, CCC (caramel-brown with cool undertone) NC43/45 or CoverFX I40/B15. Hair and Eye Colour: darkest brown. REVIEW:This is one of my rare MAC keepers - good for winter, not so good for spring/summer. Couldn't decide b/w plum foolery and this.. chose BOP. Have to use a VERY light hand - the pigment deposit is strong. Lovely plummy shade with a wee brown tinge, no shimmer or sparkle. When applied correctly, gives me the oomph i need and want. i wear with strong purple eyes, a neutral mouth and so this blush finishes it off in a nice way. Lovely colour for a cool-toned Caramel gal like me.

This is my first plum blush! I usually look awful with pink blushes so I ask from the Mac MA to help me find a pink blush that would look good on my NC20 skin, and she told me that plum shades would look good on me and she tried Breath Of Plum on my cheeks and it was great! It's also a Sheertone wich I love them so I bought it! I don't wear it so often because I prefer the peachy-coral blushes especially in the summer, but I'm sure when the fall come I will wear Breath of Plum more often! It's not sooo plum on me, it's more of a pink plum, very natural and everyday!!

In the pan, BOP looks like a deep mauve. However, on my pale pinkish ivory skin, it ends up looking like a bright-ish rose.
I was really looking for a blush to wear with purple, and I think this one will work.

I really like this color, though it does have a liiiittle brown in it, which is generally a no-no for me. However, the brown is not too pronounced; this looks mostly rose on me, which is okay.
As others have pointed out, we pale people need to use a very light hand to get a natural look, but this silky-textured, slightly sheer blush makes a flattering, rosy-cheeks look quite achievable , as long as you go slowly and use a good brush.

I now own 5 MAC blushes, and I love every one of them! The texture is smooth and silky, the application practically effortless, and the wear is superb, even on my super-oily skin.

These are expensive but worth it, and if I ever use up this enormous blush, I'll buy this lovely color again.

NOTE: I've managed to amass ten MAC blushes now, and BOP is one that I reach for often, especially in cool weather. I've had BOP for several months now, and it's my go-to rose blush for fall! On me, it ends up looking like a deeper version of "Coygirl," which I also love.

It may be expensive but its the best blusher I have ever used. Really brings a glow to my cheek bones and I also use it as a highlighter on the side on my forehead, on my chin and sometimes lightly, on my nose. Its best for afternoons as it doesnt have any shimmer or quite evenings. It doesnt seem to irritate my sensitive skin and goes well with my dark, MAC NW45 skin. Love it! And will be buying it again for me and my sisters!

I didnt notice a review for the MAC blush duo of Ring of Roses/ Breath of Plum and just noticed this one for Breath of Plum. I decided to just put the review of the duo here as did the other reviewer. Released March 2005, the Blush doubles consists of 4 matte shades and 4 shimmer shades. Ring of Roses is a matte medium toned pink with cool undertones. Breath of Plum is the darker of the two shades. Its a matte rosy plum. Initially, I didnt buy this because i thought it seemed too cool for my NC30 skin tone but it looks great. The flush is very natural looking. This is nicely pigmented too. Lasted all day. The duo also blends together more easily than some of the other duos. Retails for $18.50 and is limited edition so its only available in large flip top pot with clear lid in black.

Wow! ya know, its amazing, but the reviews and descriptions of this blush are SO mixed! Love the texture, it lasts, LOVE the way it looks - so pretty (for a plum!!) on my C1/C2 skin. On me, it's 'NARS Sin' without shimmer. Lovely, but not the natural look I covet (looks like blush... but NICE blush!)

MAC Sheertone Breath of Plum is far and away the most natural-looking, perfect blush I've ever found for my pale, lightly freckled complexion. It looks like it would be a little on the dark side, but the color is really just right!

I was skeptical of the shade in the pot (cool, mauvy plum), but these reviews convinced me to give BOP a try. I have yellow HHH (C4) skin, and this is a light pinkish-plum tone on my cheeks. It's got that nice Sheertone texture, so it looks natural on skin. The longevity is also quite good; it's still kicking at the end of the day. I use this on light makeup days, when no one feature is really the focus. It would be a nice everyday shade (but I have too many blushes that I like to rotate through).

I should have tried MAC blushes before!!

I bought this one a few days ago. The SA applied it on my cheek and it makes me look like as if I had walked awhile outside on a cold day! I love that natural healthy cheeks look. It will be great with my fall/winter makeup style.

I'm quite fair skinned and this shade really flatters my skin tone.

The fine texture is great and doesn't cake at all. The lasting power is quite good. I love the fact that I can layer it depending on the look I want to create. It's also a nice color to wear with a soft touch of bronzing powder.

I love plummy blushes and this shade has become one of my must-have!! It's more rosey in the container than it is on my cheeks.

I will surely buy some other shades!

I bought this in pan form for my palette since I only have Peaches, Pinch o'Peach and Coygirl. I LOVE the sheertone blushes - and this is no exception. The color is so soft and pretty.

A gorgeous sheer true plum shade on me! This is one of my absolute staples. The sheertone blushes are my favorites.

Don't be afraid of this shade. Since it's a sheertone blush, you can easily layer it to get just the shade you want.

A deep plum in the pan, it went on cool, plummy (as it should).

An hour later, and a brief glance in the mirror, and suddenly this blush is a warm toned berry?

Weird, but in a good way, since my (now-tanned) skin can't pull off cool colours.

This is DEFINITELY one of those shades to do a test-run with before buying, as it is not even close to what it seems in the pot.

This looks a sort of rosy berry pink (with very pronounced berryness), not the muted cool plum/mauve the packaging promised, but nevertheless it looks quite nice on me. It's a natural flush but just not cool or mauve enough for what I wanted. Also, although I like how the Sheertones are buildable, I do see what someone else mentioned as a slightly "mottled" look appearing, so you have to be very cunning when trying to get them to apply evenly.

I dont have MAC counter near me, so when MAC online answer my email I felt not so sure about this blush as the name "Plum". All i can imagine Plum is dark and so purple. But I was wrong, I fell in love when I saw it my self.
It shows beautifuly sheer plum with a little bit rosey tone on my Asian NC40 Skin. =D.

A beautiful soft rosy pink on me. I'm a GGG, NC35 with yellow undertones and this blush always makes me feel pretty! I'm a huge fan of the sheertones as they have minimal shimmer.

It's a nice plummy looking colour, however I won't buy it again as it tends to give my face a slightly mottled look.
