I don't often return drugstore makeup, but this one I did. For a product that cost nearly $10 I was extremely disappointed. I purchased two a pink and a burgundy shade. I was super excited when I brought them home. I put on the darker shade and at first the texture and feeling was smooth and slightly silky. But as the product dried it became somewhat sticky and streaky. In order to even out the color I applied more and that became goopy. Not only did it feel terrible on my lips, but it looked terrible. I tried out the pink shade just to see if I was got a dud and I had the same issue. I promptly returned both the next day.

I bought the shade Silhouette as it looked like a nice light purple-pink. I still love the shade but this lipstick is balls, man. First off, it smells like horrible chemicals, to the point that I was wondering if it was going to give me the cancer. It feels smooth and nice going on, but then dries down to a sticky gross mess. It drove me nuts. This lipstick is pure trash.
Update: I just wanted to say again that I hate this sht.

I was excited to try this long lasting lipstick, hoping it wouldn't be drying or cakey. Unfortunately, Revlon, one again, failed in the color stay family. The lipstick went on nicely, I got the color "supermodel" a plumy-rose color. But, as time went by in the first hour, the product dried up and got cakey. At hour 2, the color actually changed! It went from a mid toned plum to a weird purply-pink color that made my lips look like death. Terrible product, going back to Ulta. the ONLY good lipstick from Revlon is the Butter lipstick and the original.

I picked up two of these when I saw them at Target the other night and what a mistake. They go on really creamy but within a few minutes my lips felt dry and very, very sticky. It was incredibly uncomfortably. I tried putting my favorite lip balm to help the situation but it removed a lot of the pigment (which surprised me since they are supposed to be a ColorStay product...). I definitely don't recommend these!

I love Revlon, but this product is horrible. Colors are beautiful, but other than that, there are no other redeeming qualities about this lipstick. It leaves your lips dry and sticky within minutes of application. I bough them at walgreens for buy one get one 1/2 off, and I returned them the very next day.
tldr: save yourself the time and money, do not buy this product.

I saw these last week at Target and immediately fell in love with the way Front Row and Private Viewing looked in the tube. Front Row looked like the perfect pink for my colouring (NC15/brunette hair, green eyes) and I'm always a sucker for a nude shade, so Private Viewing appealed to me as well. I was a little reluctant because I've never been overly impressed with the previous Relvon Colorstay lipsticks, but I thought I'd give it a chance.
Unfortunately, they're not what I was hoping for. To start off, while I do appreciate longer-wearing lipsticks, I definitely don't believe any of the outrageous and unrealistic claims such as what these are advertised to do - last 16 hours! Yeah, right. So I was by no means going to be disappointed if these didn't last as long as advertised. In all honesty I bought these because the colors looked so attractive to me. What did disappoint me was the color pay-off of these two shades. It feels very thin and almost watery when I apply. Naturally with it being such a thin formula, the color is not rich or opaque at all. It looks more like a thin wash of barely-there color on my lips. It's also got a bit of a metallic or pearlescent finish to it that I'm not overly crazy about. It looks so creamy in the tube, and that's what I was wanting. As for wear time, these are just a mess. Not only does it feel thin and watery on my lips once applied, it also dries to a uncomfortable sticky finish. I can wear the thickest Lipglass MAC can come up with, but THIS drives me nuts. Once dried, it's very... DRY... and uneven on my lips. These accentuate every crease and crevice on my lips and make them look SO dried out. Not attractive. It fades unevenly, starting at the center of my lips and gradually moving outward so I end up with that unappealing ring of color on my lipline. I wish I had liked these more. Instead I ended up wishing I had saved the money and bought a MAC lipstick instead. I do think the darker, brigther, and /or deeper shades would probably look a bit richer and more even, but I can only imagine how horrible those shades would look with that dried-out, wrinkly-lipped finish they give. Yuck

I bought this in front row. The colour is very pretty and I like that it goes on wet so it's easier to blend your lips right away. I really don't think it's worth the price and maybe save some money and just buy the wet n wild mega last lipstick in think pink. It's pretty much the same colour and product.

I saw the new display and couldn't resist picking up the shades Iconic and Fashionista. They are sheer at first swipe but can be built up to an opaque shade. Fashionista is a medium warm red, Iconic is a slightly shimmery peachy salmon. I really adore how Iconic looks on my lips. It's exactly what I wanted the Peach Parfait Lip Butter to be (unfortunately, that one had too much jagged glitter in it to be wearable). Unfortunately, this lipstick has the worst effect on my lips I could have hoped for. They are creamy, but drying - a very bizarre combination. The product forms sort of a film over my lips without any kind of hydration. In fact, I feel like they suck the moisture right out. What use is a pretty shade if your lips underneath look like puckered prunes? Yes, it is long-wearing, but again, it's not a flattering look. I would NOT recommend these lipsticks.

Pretty decent staying power, but way too sheer and wimpy in color. I picked up Trendsetter and Preview. Both are pretty in the tube, but I had to make 6 or 7 runs over my lips to get the color to show up, and even then the color is weak. Not rich and dense looking like the original Colorstay lipsticks in the thin, long, black tubes. God, I loved those. Why in the world did Revlon discontinue those, only to introduce an endless string of absolute failure replacements under the same Colorstay name?
I love matte lipsticks. I don't even care about the dryness. I just like the stay-put, dense color and how rich they look. These have no color density whatsoever. The modeling photos of these they have on display are misleading. I don't see how they could have ever gotten that much color on Olivia Wilde's lips unless they melted it down and spackled the goo straight on to her lips.
Which reminds me of absolute faill part 2. Do people think these are drying? I didn't notice that at all. I'm too busy being distracted in horror by how sticky my lips feel. Yuck!!

NOTE: I originally put this review under "Ultimate Suede," not "Colorstay Ultimate Suede."
Well, pigs still can't fly, so why did I think a Matte Lipstick, and a long-wearing one at that, could be moisturizing? It must have been the DS display, telling me that "Ultimate Suede" was so moisturizing and comfortable - NOT.
This was an impulse buy when I went to pick up another Colorstay eyeliner, which is an excellent product. I saw this and thought, hmm, maybe they have solved the matte mystery, after all. I'd like to try the matte lip look, but never could because I always get chapped, peeling lips and must limit my lipsticks to tinted balms that moisturize.
I tried Cruise Collection, which is a brighter coral on the lips than the peachy gold it appears in the tube. Not a bad color, but a bit brighter than I thought it would be. At first, it went on OK, looked matte, and didn't feel overly dry, but within about 15 minutes I could almost feel my lips crackling. After about an hour, the lines in my lips looked so deep I could've held coins in there, there were patches of crusted color and dried skin, and the overall look was that of a 95 year old woman who put on some old, dry lipstick from the 1920's before setting out on a hike across the Sahara w/o any water.
So, no, they have not solved the problem of matte lipsticks being too drying. Not at all.
The pkging is excellent. It has a clear cap so you can see the color before you buy, and a click-twist to raise the lip color out of the container. However, the product inside is seriously lacking. It is possible that other colors are not as drying, as I've had that experience.
Bottom line: I won't be buying this again, and it is so drying I can't even use it to "use it up." Of course, if you have a problem with your lips being too shiny, moist, or plump, this may help shrivel them up for you.

I love this product! Those who say this lipstick is drying obviously didn't apply a lip balm before applying it. It goes on very smooth and looks like a creme lipstick, but when it dries it is matte and gorgeous! It does get slightly tacky when it dries though which is a downfall but for the staying power I don't mind. You do have to build up the color but I don't mind, sometimes I like to leave it sheer if I don't want to be too dramatic. I have it in Cruise which is an orangey coral but it doesn't go with my tan skin, I definitely recommend this for lighter skin tones though! And I have it in Backstage which is a gorgeous plum red wine color and would look great with all skin tones. It lasts all day; I've eaten, wiped my lips, drank, and fell asleep with it and it has still stayed on, will definitely be buying more colors!

i read so many bad reviews on this and i watched it on "itsjudytime" vlog and it looks beautiful on her ("backstage"), so regardless of the reviews i bought it anyway. i dont know what some girls are talking about because the formula is SO SMOOTH going on! it definitely wears for a long time. i put it on for thanksgiving dinner and it lasted all through the meals. At about 10:00 pm i looked at myself and the inside had started to fade but about 80% of it was still on my lip. it dries to a matte but its not uncomfortable or anything. very good color payoff, "backstage" is a wine color. i gave it a good 3-4 passes to get it to that rich dark burgundy color. i am now interested in buying others colors! one lippie off because its a b*tch to scrub off. LOL i used a wet wipe to wipe it off, worked.

I thought these were a new version of the discontinued (a few years back) Revlon Colorstay lipstick in the black tube. Unfortunately, not. The new Suede lipstick was too sheer, and came off my lips (especially in the middle) in no time at all. I didn't notice if it was drying since it hardly stayed on my lips any time at all. So sad, because I loved the earlier version. I'll have to continue use sparingly from my stash purchased at 75% off when they were discontinued.

I love this lipstick, it is exactly what I have always been looking for. I had been using the revlon Balmstain pencils but didn't reallly like any of the colors much but luckily these come in much better shades. I like Fashionista, Finale and Coulture the best.
The great thing about these is that after the glossy finish wears off the color is still there and lasts as long as the older two step type formulas like Loreal Infallible and Cover Girl Outlast All Day. I just apply my chapstick or gloss over it again and it's good to go for hours but it's not as drying or as hard to get off as the two step types.
The other thing is that this is similar to Yves St Laurent Glossy Stain which costs about $30 so it's a steal, especially when it's on sale.
I can't wait to get more of these!!

I am so surprised to see all these bad reviews on this product! Yes, to be honest, I didn't like my suede lipstick at all when I first tried it on. I put on more than 5 coats of this so maybe that's why. I have this color in Front row #20. It's a perfect pink shade, which is perfect for everyday use. Whenever I go out to class, I usually eat before or after. When I put it on, the color doesn't disappear! I was so surprised at this long lasting power. This lipstick will look beautiful if you top it with your favorite lipgloss! This is meant to be paired with a lipgloss to emphasize the sheer color. If you didnt like this suede lipstick at first, I recommend you keep using it a few more times to get used to it. This is a must have product for me, although it dries my lip a little. But that's okay as long as I put lip balm before or put a lip gloss after. This is a huge bargain in my opinion considering its price. I would say that people who have extremely dry lips might not like it, but hey, why don't you apply lip balm every night in cold weather? :) Your worries will go away~ I will buy this again and again!!

Revlon Colorstay “Ultimate Suede” l/s is the new l/s from Revlon. I have in the color Fashionista (#080).
It comes in a tube with a clear top, the bottom of the tube is an accurate representation of the color. The clear plastic top pulls off and the color clicks up and is in a slanted/flat tip that applies like a lip balm. The color is opaque and has a satin finish. The first time I tried this I was really put off by the scent. It has a “sour” smell that I really did not like. It does not last, as soon as you apply the odor dissipates, but if you are sensitive to smell then this is a no-go. I first tried this directly on my lip. It goes on smooth and initially very comfortable. But then it got dry and tacky which I did not like. I was going to throw it away but I did give it another try b/c I really like the color (which I will get to in a moment.) So, the next time I first applied a matt lip balm (I like Nivea-Kiss of Recovery) before applying the color. That made a huge difference. The color goes on smooth but really does last a good 2-3 hours. It feels comfortable and does not fall apart if you add gloss on top. So, now for the color: Great burnt coral with a tiny bit of brown. It is a great fall color that I really love. I love to layer Revlon Sunset Peach l/g over it for the perfect combination. The combination just brightens my face and makes me feel good. I purchased at CVS for $8.95 but I use my CVS bucks so they are actually less. It looks like they had about 20 different colors and I am going to go back for a few more. I have my eyes on Cruise, Iconic, Supermodel…uhm, too many more to mention.

I'm surprised by the bad reviews. Yes, they feel a little dry after an hour or so, but I find that a swipe of moisturing gloss or balm doesn't really affect the long wear, and it helps them to wear off evenly.
The colors aren't the greatest, most of the pinkish ones have a lot of berry in them, I tried a darker one and it's too dark, I would prefer something more neutral, but overall I like this. They're less drying than the 'paint on' two part lipsticks, and I'm happy with anything that lasts several hours--which these do, even with gloss on top.

This product is terrible. I got it for probably about $8.95 at Target. It's not worth it. I wore it today and it's probably the most drying lipstick I've ever worn. The texture is actually really nice and smooth. When I first applied it, it felt kinda like I was smoothing a light cream on my lips. I got Backstage and the color looked pretty dark in the tube, but when I applied it, it want as pigmented as I thought it would be. It's definitely build able so I but on probably three layers before the color started showing up somewhat to what it looked like in the tube. I let it set for a while and it didn't exactly make my lips dry (they still felt smooth) but they felt like they needed some kind of gloss over it. Since I was testing it out, I didn't apply a balm. Worst mistake! The lip product dries and is fantastic at not transferring (think lip stain) and you can touch your lips all you want without it budging. However about two hours after I applied it, I checked it and it looked terrible. It almost started to feather and flake off and the area in the middle of my lips wore off. Trying to reapply it made it look worse. The color ends up looking darker and the dry flakes end up being smeared all over your lips. It stayed on my lips for maybe another two hours before I took it off. By the end of the night, my lips were very dark (just me?) and they were flaky and disgusting. The corners had worn out including the inside of my lips. All in all, I would not repurchase.

They were relatively long lasting, but the cons outweighed this. I was disappointed.

I just saw this new lip product today and bought "Cruise Collection", a vibrant coral with a hint of medium pink. I love the color, it instantly brightens my face but I feel the formula is too matte, and not "silky" or "smooth" enough...After several minutes of application, the feelings is slightly tacky and dry. I will wear this for 24+ hrs, including bedtime, to test-drive it for its moisturizing benefits. I refuse to wear lip balm under or over my color lippies. What's the point? Unfortunately some of the best products come in the ugliest packaging (Wet n' Wild, NYC) - But I really want to love this product. I'm keeping the receipt in case my lips start peeling/bleeding b/c of the product's ingredients. I will Edit my post after a few days to provide an update..
EDIT 17Nov2012: I had to return this product to the store, sadly. The renewed concept of Revlon Colorstay l/s was great, but as a comeback the formula IS VERY long-lasting, however it is exceptionally drying to the point of chapping and painful peeling. For women with sensitive (skin) lips that are prone to chapping in general, I suggest avoiding this product. It will tear your lips apart in a bad way. I have to return to glosses, and Revlon's Colorburst l/g is the only one that is truly emollient.
