I have to say that overall I really do like this lip butter!
I am quite fair with warm undertones (about NC15), but I have dark hair, brown eyes, and quite pigmented lips so I find that light lipsticks wash me out and brighter/darker ones suit me a lot better. I always though that a bright "cherry" red would suit me the best, but after trying this lip product I think that the slighter darker brick red-violet shade is a lot softer and a great red on my skintone!
I have super dry flaky lips, so exfoliating and lip balm are musts, but this lip butter definitely doesn't further dry my lips and it applies with a lot of slip and glossiness (I personally like this). Due to the texture, if you want to apply this for full intensity I would recommend using a lip brush, but my favourite way to wear it is to apply to the outer parts of my lips and blend with my finger, leaving the center blank, and then apply a light pink gloss in the center. it looks so pretty and really enhances the fullness of my lips!
The packaging pretty good, my only quip would be that the product can get a little messy on the sides of the tube and it is easy to dent with the cap but be careful and you shouldn't have problems.
Wear time isn't super long, only a couple of hours, but it fades evenly (no lipstick ring effect) and wearing it over lip liner will help plus it isn't drying so reapplication isn't a problem.
I will most likely repurchase if I run out :)

One of my favorites of the Lip Butter colors!
For reference I have fair skin (second to lightest usually), reddish brown hair, brown eyes, pigmented lips (so I usually like the darker lip colors - I like Fig as well)...
This color is a great wearable deep brown-burgundy red. It's a bit sheer, but perhaps not as sheer as the other Lip Butters.

Red Velvet is a gorgeous colour: deep, dark brick red. It complements my asian skin tone very nicely. However, other than the colour, I find this is almost no different from an ordinary lipstick. Despite it's claims of being 'super hydrating', I felt no added moisturization. I still need to apply lip balm beforehand so my lips won't dry up. It is also very slick. Because of its slickness, its very easy to mess up. Be extra careful with application, because one little unnecessary movement will smudge it everywhere. I'd keep buying this just for the colour. But if you already have your own HG red lipstick, don't bother getting this. The colour is indeed beautiful, but the formula is no different than any other lipstick.

I had all but given up on Revlon lip products after the foul mineral glaze/gloss I bought this summer. I thought initially this would be a tinted gloss or balm for whatever reason, but it's more like a lipstick. Which pleases me! I have been hunting for a red colour for ages in a lipstick, and spotting this at Shoppers on sale, I liked the test swatch on my hand. I can't pull off sone of those pretty candy apple red shades. Maybe it's the orange undertones or too much pink, I just know burgundy and darker reds suit me better. This colour is spot on for me, plus it doesn't make my teeth contrast in a funny way, like some reds do on me (pale olive skin). I agree with another poster about being gentle with this when capping and uncapping. I already smooshed a corner of this with the lid. It's very soft, and wearing it feels not unlike body shop pot gloss, texture wise. I also got this in a neutral blush colour too, and really like it. If you find a colour in this line that you like, I'd recommend trying this stuff!

I am a NW15 blonde and buying this color was definitely a mistake but I can't deny it's a good product. The shade is a very deep, almost burgundy red that probably looks really flattering on darker skin tones but on me it is way too dark, I look much better wearing Cherry tart or Candy apple. The texture is great, very glossy and it is pretty moisturizing. The pigmentation is incredible and can only be compared to the pigmentation of shades Lollipop and Raspberry pie but that also makes it kinda hard to apply. Overall a great product. The plastic casing looks a bit cheap but it matches the color of the product.

Received this and a couple other colors in swaps. This is my favorite, at least for my complexion. The formula is comfortable on the lips and has good staying power. The color is a very deep rose, almost a burgundy.

On me (NW 20), Red Velvet is a deep red that is surprisingly dark considering what you might expect from a lip butter (I have 2 others and while they are pigmented, they are not as deeply pigmented as this one). I do very much like the colour and the texture. The colour is very dramatic and the texture very moisturising. I don't like it quite as much as the other 2 I have and don't find it quite as wearable - it takes a bit more work and careful application whereas with Berry Smoothie and Cherry Tart, I can simply swipe them on and go. But I would not hesitate to purchase Red Velvet again - it's certainly a great shade to have when you want to look "diva-ish".

I got this at Walgreens--Revlon lip products are $3 off this week; and I had a $1 off coupon, so I thought, why not? I paid about $3.50 for mine. It's nice--cosmetics are very subjective, first of all--one person likes slick and shiny, others hate it. And individual coloring has a lot to do with how a product appears. All that said, this is a smooth, sheer formula that is more pigmented than a balm, that's for sure. I do better with sheer formulas, but don't like lip gloss, so I think I would like to explore another color or two from this line. This particular color stains a tiny bit, so when it wears off, there is a sheer wash of color. I'd call this a neutral red--not warm (orange based) or all that cool (blue based). I can't wear anything at all tending towards warmer tones or else I just look dead, so this is nice. You could do much worse and pay far more for the "privilege" for a similar product, so in general I'd say it's a pretty good. I do wish for adequate sunscreen protection; maybe they'll get it in the "new and improved" version that always seems inevitable.

Other reviewers described this as a brick red, but for me the color is burgundy. A better name would be "chocolate cherry." The texture is not really a lip balm; it's a full-fledged lipstick. I don't do pinks - I only can wear warm colors - so this is not for me. Also I like my lip color sheerer, more moisturizing, and less pigmented. The clinique butter shine lipstick is, in my opinion, a way better formulation. Putting this up for swap.

This is one of the redeeming members of the lip butter family. Overall, I don't know why people rave about these so much but I really like this one. I wish it had SPF in it (I prefer tinted lip balm to have SPF) but I wear this more as a lipstick. If you want to try a red lip but are a little intimidated, this is a good place to start.

Red Velvet shows up as a brown red burgundy color against my caramel skin. It is really pigmented, in fact the most pigmented of the four I bought (Fig Jam, Candy Apple, Brown Sugar being the others). This color is creamy with no shimmer or glitter. Staying time is 2-3 hours, but it leaves a nice burgundy stain. I like this color for fall and winter. I would repurchase if I ran out or lost it AND it was on sale and I had a coupon.

Looks very, very pretty on my fair skin. It took me weeks to finally get my hands on this particular color, and I think it's one of my favorite in the lip butter collection.

I love the color but the lip butters are a little to pigmneted for me. I prefer a tinted balm, sheer lipstick, ect.. These are full on lipsticks. Nice looking and highly reccomend.

As someone who adores red lips on other people but not myself, Red Velvet was a pleasant surprise. This shade is a deep brownish brick-red that is actually flattering to my pale skin - AMAZING! It's heavily pigmented, so you can apply lightly for a sheer pop of color or with a heavier hand for a bolder look. I find this color to be simply stunning, I feel so glamorous & sexy when I wear it.
I only wish the formula was more moisturizing, especially considering it's a "lip butter" & supposedly contains all these hydrating ingredients. I expected it to be much more glossy & hydrating than it is. Also, be sure to exfoliate lips before applying, as the formula tends to settle into & gum up any dry skin - NOT an attractive look!
Bottom Line: Yes, in spite of the less than stellar moisturizing formula, I'd repurchase b/c the color is just that gorgeous.

I bought these after seeing so many youtube reviews and I really liked what I saw. I am not a fan of lipstick...pretty much any lipstick. I do not like the way they feel on my lips whether moisturizing or long wear or shear.
I love these formulas and colors. This color is probably my favorite that I purchased. I have a hard time finding a red that works for my coloring. I love that it is more of a brick red that is shear.
Because this has more of a balm texture you will have to reapply this. I don't use this as a balm but more for color.
Considering also that red lipsticks are one of the hardest colors to apply this is soooooooo easy.
I like the packaging. I like that it is in a lipstick tube and not a chapstick type tube. I like that the lid overs the whole tube and it clicks so it doesn't come off in my purse.
I think these are pretty reasonably priced. I have purchased the Dior, Laura Mercier, Fresh and Sephora. I much prefer these for price and color payoff.

PACKAGING:
It is packaged in your typical lipstick swivel case with a quilt-frosted cap that matches the shade in which you purchase. The top has a clear window so you could actually see the color.
This is not so much a packaging complaint, more of the consistency of the product itself. Beware not to press too hard upon application as these are quite soft. The stick itself will shift and smoosh as you roll it back down leaving messy sides. When you go and close with the cap, it will smear.
OVERALL:
Red Velvet is your average shade of red. On my cool tone tanned skin, it looks more of a brick red. Reds are hit or miss for me and this is a miss. It wasn't the red I was going for, it looked too brown on me. So I experimented and the advantage of these balms being so pigmented, I layered Sugar Plum over Red Velvet and became more of a blue-based shade. The shade was improved a little.
For a balm, this is an OK product, which is why I took 2 lippies away. When I first purchased this, I generously used this for two days straight. By the second day, I noticed my lips became chapped. In fact, my lips began to peel. My lips were not dry prior to using this product, so between not having dry lips and using these lip butters, I can say these were the culprit of peeling lips.
I want to say the consistency reminds me of Palladio's Herbal Tinted Lip Balm. These also are similar in concept, but I prefer the Palladio over Revlon's. In addition, they are half the price.
I'm using this strictly for color. Since I do like the Red Velvet and Sugar Plum together, I would suggest using a lip moisturizer underneath this. Once this tube is done, I won't be buying any backups.

I am fair skinned with brown eyes and chestnut hair. I had been looking for the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Red Velvet for about a month. I had read so much about it. Most reds look garish on me. However, this is not the case with this product. It is beautiful and pigmented. Unusual for a lip butter. I gave it a 4 because it is not a long wearing product, which is to be expected for this type of product. It does leave a light stain. I must say it is longer wearing than any other lip gloss type product I have used before. It was a long search to find this color. When I found it, it was the last one left. So if you are looking for your perfect darkish blue/red, keep looking it will be worth the work you put into finding it.

I was a bit surprised by this shade. I bought Gumdrop and Cotton Candy and these 2 are quite sheer. RV is so pigmented just like lipstick. I'm not sure if I personally like this particular shade on me but I can make it work.
I wish they would make all the lip butters more pigmented or just call it lipstick with all the same formula. I feel like this whole line is a bit of gimmick. It's practically a tinted lipbalm. Burt's bees make better ones and it's half the price.
The most annoying about drugstore product is sometimes they never have a tester of the color so you have no clue what it looks like on you. I feel that they are never true to the color that is in the package.
I won't be buying any of these lip butters..I don't get what's with all the hype about these and I can't believe I fell for it.

Absolutely breathtaking!
It's a deep, creamy red. It's decently pigmented.
I thought it might be overwhelming on my very fair skin, so I hesitantly swiped on a tiny bit.
Seeing that it was fine, I added more. And more. And more, until I had a beautiful retro lip. With some cat-eye eyeliner, I felt beautiful.
Lasting power isn't amazing, but it feels so good to swipe on I don't mind :)
It has no scent or flavour, so it's fine for everyone.
I love this so much!
:)
