I really wanted to love this scent, my husband thought it was so sexy. But unfortunately it gives me a huge headache. It smells really pretty on and has good staying power but I can't wear it.

I am not sure what I can add that hasnít already been said, but this fragrance completely surprised me (in a good way) and I am utterly obsessed with it, so I just wanted to share my thoughts. I am not very knowledgeable in distinguishing fragrance Ďnotesí, nor am I very eloquent in my fragrance descriptions, so I will try my best to describe what this invokes for me. Damn, this is sexy. But more importantly, it makes me feel sexy. My husband always compliments me when I wear it. Itís an acquired scent. It took me a long time to even muster up the courage to wear it. I had been using a drop on a sachet to scent my underwear drawer ;) and only just recently tried it on myself. I have a little .14 oz splash bottle, and after wearing it a few times, ordered a 1 oz EDP spray (for a great price off of Ebay). This is the rare exception where I actually prefer the smaller splash bottle, as a dab behind my ears and in the crease my elbows is more than potent enough. I will apply it in this manner, and have worn it on several non-sexy occasions (work, church) and I have not found it to be inappropriate or overpowering. I save the EDP spray for going out or for more formal occasions. The staying power is amazing; I can still smell it at the end of a 12+ hour day, and it lingers even longer on clothing.
So what does this smell like? It smells expensive. And womanly. It definitely says, ĎIím wearing perfumeí. Yet is meshes beautifully with my body chemistry and transforms into something rich and unique and luscious once it hits my skin. So, try before you buy, and give it time and perhaps a few uses before making a decision. I did not like this when I sniffed it out of the bottle, it just smelled too earthy and masculine. But when I tried it on my skin, I noticed more floral and fruity notes. After looking up the fragrance notes, I suppose I can smell the orchid and black currant, yet its grounded by the earthy notes of patchouli and dry vanilla. It is a bit reminiscent of Calvin Klein Euphoria, though less sweet. I find the mix of masculine and feminine notes appealing. It does change on me throughout the course of wear. I actually like this best at the end of the day, when it has had plenty of time to soften and become one with my skin.
This is a strong fragrance, the will undoubtedly invite strong opinions. Itís definitely out of my comfort zone of sweeter, vanilla- and amber- based scents. This is by far the most Ďadultí fragrance I own. The fragrance, the name, the sleek black packaging, everything about this is elegant and sophisticated and sexy, and I canít get enough of it!

I've been looking for a perfume to replace Gio by Armani - not necessarily one that smelled the same, but one that evoked the same sense of femininity wrapped in power and high-class sex appeal - nothing loud or trashy, please. Black orchid isn't quiet, but it's not brash, either. Unlike Gio, which I swear is like a perfume mood ring that can change just as unpredictably as the woman it's meant to represent, black orchid is faithfully sexy, sweet, and unmistakably powerful. Unlike some florals, it's a serious fragrance for a serious woman. Which isn't to say that you couldn't wear it for a fun night out on the town, but you'd better have some designs on seducing the man you're with. This could be hard to pull of during the day, but it's perfect in the cold months after the sun goes down.

Having gone through three samples, I can't wear this anymore. The opening is AMAZING, like an earthy truffle with cocoa, leather, and liqueur. The drydown used to smell to me like a faintly sweet vanilla/sandalwood aroma, but now all I get is a weird chocolate cucumber smell. If only those opening notes had lasted longer, this would've been a winner.

It's dark and sexy and noirish where saint
and sinner collide in one bottle. The opening starts with white gardenia with it's sweet innocent scent represent the saintly part of the fragrance dries to an
tart and succulent of black current, there
is an nuance of tangerine that is juicy
to the core dries to an velvety texture
of bergamot, and ends the top notes with
nocturnal jasmine with it's quieting aspects and ylang ylang that hangs in the dark night.
As we go down to the middle notes we enter a room of fiery spices but it's
not overwhelming and brings exotica to
the senses there is an deep and diluted
note note of fruits that makes it primal, the lotus is the quietest note
in the perfume but it also makes it powdery and the orchid the star of this
fragrance is the most dark quality of
orchid you can ever get dries the middle
Dry sandalwood starts the drydown with a
esoteric fervor then warms with amber
and earthy patchouli then dark chocolate
with deletable tastes makes it sexual
ends with the mysterious note of incense.
When i wear this it conjures me of a late 1920's metropolis where a fashionable women wearing all black with
fur short cut dress and a close fitting
crochet hat walking though the shadowery
streets with streetlights reflecting her
shadow and the steam from the subway
from the asphalt floor and she comes across a man who's dark good looks slowly pulls her in and kisses her deeply and slowly moves her stocking from her garters and rubs his hands
over her flawless legs.
this is truly sex in a bottle.

I was in love with this scent when I first tried it on me. People want to smell you when you have it on you. I purchased a full size bottle but unfortunately I noticed that especially men wear it much more beautifully when compared to women. Not only myself, many other women, except very young ladies. I gave it to my husband and he likes to wear it very much. This should be classified as a very unique men's cologne, I think saying it's unisex would not be so true for most of the women.

What an unusual and refreshingly sophisticated scent. I got a sample of this with a sephora order, and am completely mystified by the sweet, creamy vanilla and toothpaste accords here. This has so much patchouli and vetiver underneath the opening notes. I don't think I've ever smelled a fragrance with quite so much patchouli that isn't a single note. It manages to be sweet and herbaceous at once, and almost reminds me of some kind of gilded age cocktail.

Love it! It's warm and inviting and seductive and very cozy. And I had to come back to add that I got a 1.7 oz EDP with a tube of body lotion at CCO for $80...quite a bargain, considering the EDP alone usually runs for $105 (I think) at Sephora!

Stunk horribly on me. I don't know what this is supposed to smell like, to be honest, because the scent was so vile that I had to scrub it off. I gave it 1 hour..... developed a headache in that time from the scent. Based on the reviews and descriptions, I thought I would love it!!
Do try this before you buy it. So glad I did.

I started off with a sample of this, given to me by an impatient fragrance SA at Nordstrom. Well, she did not get my sale but Nordstrom.com did! This reminds me of something, and I cannot put my finger on it. Dark fruits (as someone else said) smoothly make their presence upon application, but it is NOT screechy at all. I have not looked at the notes but I detect a smokey vanilla, and maybe some patchouli. This is incredibly blended. The bottle is fantastic with its black, art deco design. I keep reading that this is better suited to winter, but I am all about breaking rules...I am pretty much like the honey badger in that respect. In conclusion...dark, smokey, mysterious, and sexy!
