This is a great lipstick for those who want color without looking that obvious.It is very moisturizing, great for the fresh lip look that is all over the runways! It resembles a red plum in the fall, maybe a little more brown. It is so pretty, by itself or with liner for a polished, sophisticated look! Smells great too!

I love MAC's plum lipstick, so I thought sheer plum would be heaven. I was wrong. This is a raisin tone that looks beautiful on some, but I'm not in this group.

I got Sheer Plum with Back 2 MAC and I'm really pleased with my choice. The colour, of course, is not plum, but rather a reddish-brown. It reminds me a bit of Clinique Black Honey, but more brown and less berry. Even if you're scared off by the prospect of brown because it gives you bad flashbacks of the early 90s, you should still give this colour a try. Very pretty! Not the most moisturizing, but not as drying as MAC's matte and cream lippies.

Though I love this lipstick and it is one of the few I wear most often, I really don't know why it's called Sheer Plum because it doesn't really look plum on me at all. It is sheer though! It's more of a light glaze of light brown on me. Goes with lots of makeup combinations.

I was very disappointed when I got this lipstick. It's not plum! It's red-brown! However, now I have got over that and accept it for what it is I like it a lot. It's subtle, with just a hint of colour, nice for low-key makeup days.

Love this color! It's a nice, neutral color for everyday. When I bought it, I thought it would be berry color b/c of the name, plum, but it's not, at least not on me. It's more of a brown/rose color, very nice!

One of my staples. It is a sheer reddish-brown that plays up my lips without lipliner, and with a lipliner makes me look very polished.

This is so easy to wear. I can grab this almost regardless of what I'm wearing, and it works. Ok, it's not very exciting, but it's a pretty, glossy lipstick and I wouldn't want to be without it.

I love this color!! It's my favorite staple lipstick, I always reach for this one!! It's sheer enough to look not too made up, its also very moisturizing! I think the color looks so natural and pretty, just like your lips but better! I can understand how the color wouldn't suit other people, but it certainly works for me!

I love Sheer Plum! I'm picky about lipsticks...I want the right consistancy, taste/flavor and color. Sheer Plum lasts for a decent ammount of time and it feels soooo good on. I hope they never get rid of this color.

A definite staple for me. Looks great on fair skinned lasses. Incidently, Sephora lipstick 531 gloss is a dead ringer for it.

I LOVE this perfect sheer, red-brown color! It's so universal and it gives the right amount of color to lips - not too bright and not too brown - just perfect! You can also apply this color with a liner such as MAC Mahogany for a deeper red for evening. Ijust wear this alone during the day.:)

This is the best brown-based plum shade ever! On me, it looks like a reddish-brown shade. It's got the right amount of shine, it's perfectly sheer, and looks great with Chicory lip pencil...it creates a more vibrant look. Overall, it's a versatile shade

MAC Sheer Plum



Sheer Plum is the perfect "universal" lipstick - anyone of any age of any color can wear this.


It is a beautiful halfway between a brandy and a cognac shade. Try to wear this lipstick without liner and you will have a gorgeous warm tint to your lips.

Hint: to get a longer lasting effect, fill in lips with a warm neutral pencil, like MAC's Spice or Wet 'n' Wild's #712 Pencil, then apply the lipcolor straight from the tube.

Didn't see the rave with this when I tried it on. It turned brown on me...no resemblance of plum anywhere. And I normally love MAC lipsticks!! Oh well-can't win em all!

This is a great everyday lipstick for me (pale with pink undertones, brown hair, blue eyes) - beautiful color, great texture (more like a lip balm than a lipstick), and unoffensive scent.

THis lipstick did nothing for me. THe name is misleading as there's not really a plum, but rather a brown color. I didn't like how dry it felt--considering it's a stain.

I may be the only person that this did not work for. Too brown on my lips...I prefer Stila Natalie for a real sheer plum!
