This mascara is amazing! you seriously only need 2 coats to give you beautiful full/long lashes, and it drys quick. I was a huge fan of covergirl's lash blast, but i ran out and picked this up at CVS for 75% off and now i love it. it doesn't clump up or FLAKE! (that was my biggest issue with covergirl's lash blast) but i would defiantly recommend this to anyone.

I like this mascara. It does not glitter on my lashes (although it does under my eyes after I take a shower...) but I like it alot! The brush works perfectly for me and it does not clump. Right now it is my favorite of all Almay's mascaras. =)
I'm currently looking for it so I can repurchase but it is so popular here where I live that I can't find it! I hope I find it soon!

I love this mascara! It looks like I have false eyeslashes on! The picture of the eye was uploaded by me. I have brown eyes and my eyelashes are naturally nothing to write home about. I got the chocolate quartz mascara for green eyes. It is a very dark brown as you can see from the photo- it almost looks black. As other reviewers have mentioned, there's no sparkle or anything that I can see. A bit hard to take off, however if you use a good eye makeup remover it shouldn't be a problem... I didn't think the applicater brush was too big as others have mentioned. I love it- can't wait to try all of the colors!!!!

this mascara gave Almay a bad name in my book . it's not awful but it's not good either. it gets clumpy & dry & just gross. & the light interplay technology is a lie. this is just an average mascara
Age: 19-24 Skin: Combination, Fair Hair: Brown Eyes: Blue
I tend to get tired of mascaras very easily, therefore I have about 50 different kinds of mascara. This, so far, takes the cake as far as favorites go.
I have two of these in 032 Black Steel for blue eyes. They fan out my eyelashes, rarely clump, and give my baby blues a little oomph with their subtle sparkle.
I have received numerous compliments on how blue my eyes look while wearing this, even from men...who never notice anything. Go figure. I love this product!

Normally when I think of good mascara, Almay doesn't come to mind. BUT this is an awesome product! Doesn't clump at all! Clumping has been an issue with my maybelline and revlon mascaras, but not this one. I will definitely repurchase.

The mascara is great. It gives tons of volume and gives the same wide eyed look that more expensive, 'professional' mascaras give. My only gripe is that it's hard to take off so I always have some eyelashes fall off when I remove it. Besides that, if you layer it on, it is great for going out at night and not putting on fake eye lashes!
Age: 18 & Under Skin: Dry, Fair-Medium Hair: Black, Straight, Fine Eyes: Brown
An overall good mascara.
~The volume was pretty good! It made my lashes fluffy and fanned out
~Defined and darkened my asian lashes.
~Has a bit more "oomph" than Lancome Definicils
~I did need to comb my lashes, as it did clump a bit, but after they were fine.
~When applied to the lower lashes I noticed very slight flaking.
~Good for a "natural" look, even a bit more than natural!
~The brush was better than Covergirl Lashblast's over sized one.
Have to remember Almay's mascaras aren't "glam" or generally aren't "dramatic" but they work well as natural looking.

(To preface this review, I have Asian Lashes)
I love this product; it is my new HG mascara. I have tried L'Oreal Voluminous (both the waterproof and non-waterproof), CoverGirl Lash Blast Fusion, Maybelline Full n' Soft, but Almay's has turned out to deliver the best performance so far. Here is a break down of its performance:
Brush: Big, but not humongous like the CoverGirl Lash Blast brush. It is big in a good way, as in it does what the packaging claims it does--it "flaunts every lash". There are a lot of bristles and it does a great job separating, lengthening, and thickening my lashes. The only issue, though extremely minor (and I thought that it would be good to bring up if anyone is completely put off by this very minor issue), is that there is mascara poop--which, of course, can be fixed by wiping the tip of the brush.
Formula: Creamy, goes on easily, and doesn't get smeared all over the lids like other mascaras do. Plus, even if it does, it is easy to just wipe it off with a q-tip. It also dries really fast. Oh, and it curls your lashes, too. Not an incredible amount, but it is there. Needless to say, then, it is great for holding a curl.
Intensity: I got this in Black Flash (brown eyes). It's obviously black, but I haven't noticed any of the shimmers or 'light technology' that it advertises. Having read other reviews, I'm assuming the Chocolate Quartz for green eyes is much more noticeable. Maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention? But regardless, I do like it. It is a complete black and not a wimpy gray color.
Endurance: No flaking or smudging. Held up throughout the entire day. Also, it is great for contact wearers (I wear contacts), because nothing got in my eyes. I have had this issue with other mascaras and it is extremely annoying when I have to take out my contacts and wash them off every other hour.
Packaging: I really like the packaging, actually. It is simple but very pretty.
Conclusion: I have not tried out other Almay mascaras, but I have tried out plenty of other mascaras, and this is the best so far. It can be used for either a natural or a dramatic look. I am definitely repurchasing.
EDIT: unfortunately, upon wearing it a few more times, I've found out that it does, in fact, flake. Incessantly. Maybe it's what they put in it to make it sparkly. I think the flaking started after the mascara begun to dry out, which is why it didn't happen at first. Oh well.
Age: 44-55 Skin: Normal, Fair, Cool Hair: Brown, Straight, Fine Eyes: Green
This is the best mascara I've ever purchased. The color (in chocolatey brown for green eyes) really works to highlight my eyes. The formula goes on well, makes my lashes look much longer, and stays on without flaking off into my contact lenses. My teenage daughter told me she thought my eyes look beautiful when I was wearing it. (And she doesn't dole out the compliments, that's for sure.) I have finally found a mascara that I love.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Acne-prone, Fair-Medium Hair: Brunette Eyes: Blue
I love this, greatly exceeds my expectations for Almay mascara. It literally made my eyelashes look false and gave them a "wet" look as if I had just applied my mascara. It was only 9 dollars at CVS.
Age: 19-24 Skin: Oily, Medium, Warm Hair: Brunette, Wavy, Medium Eyes: Brown
I have the Chocolate Quartz one for green eyes, even though my eyes are brown. Self sent it to me in a set to try for their beauty awards. I have been asked 3 times today if I had false eye lashes on (one by a MAC SA, one Lancome SA, and a friend who knows better). And this isn't the first time this has happened. I only wear this mascara occasionally because it's brown, but I should probably wear it all the time if I'm getting so many compliments :)
I notice that my lashes are thicker and longer, and my eyes do look quite enhanced with this mascara. It stays on well (through a shower or a sailing practice on the lake) even though it isn't waterproof. The only thing I don't like is the huge tube and the drier consistency. I'll probably buy it when I run out, but I'll get the one for my eye color.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Acne-prone, Fair, Cool Hair: Blond, Straight, Fine Eyes: Green
I used to really love this mascara! I use the Chocolate Quartz color (for green eyes) and it helps to bring out the dark brown flecks in my eyes. It's also more natural-looking on my blonde lashes than black mascara. It works with all of my eyeshadow colors (mostly greens, purples and browns) and it works for daytime (one coat) and nighttime (two coats).
The formula is really nice for the first two or three weeks. No clumping, very little flaking, full lashes, and resistant to tears and water. Unfortunately, only my first tube lasted very long. Each subsequent tube (I bought two more) went bad after a couple of weeks. Dry, flaky, and obnoxious.
Oh yeah - This is great for sensitive eyes and contact-lens-wearers! This is one of the only mascaras I can wear for more than three or four hours without getting red, itchy, irritated eyes.
Edit: I took lippies away and edited my review because the chocolate quartz formula is only good for a little while. The formula for the emerald color (for hazel eyes) is a bit better, but still not what I expect when I pay ten bucks for mascara.
Age: 25-29 Skin: Oily, Fair Hair: Brown Eyes: Brown
I really like this mascara. I'm generally not a big fan of mascaras with big brushes but this one isn't impossibly large for those who have a smaller eye area nor is it overly hard to maneuver. It really does do a good job of getting to each lash from corner to corner and even helps lift them a bit imo. The formula isn't overly goopy or wet and it does a good job at adding length and volume to lashes. It also didn't smear on or flake on me.
Here are the available shades:
Black Flash- Deep black with shimmer (for brown eyes). Good basic, everyday colour.
Black Steel- Slightly grayish toned black with silver shimmer (for blue eyes). Would be a nice, subtle complement to a silver or gray eye look imo.
Chocolate Quartz- Dark chocolate brown with gold/bronze shimmer (for green eyes). Great natural looking mascara for those 'no makeup' days or for those with blonde lashes.
Black Emerald- Black with green shimmer (for hazel eyes). Good mascara for any green eye makeup look.
Each mascara is meant to complement the matching Interplay e/s trios and liners for their specific eye colour but imo they can all suit any eye colour or skintone depending on the look you're going for. The shimmer/colour of each is pretty subtle and not really visible except for under direct light. From a distance they all just look like a regular black or brown mascara. But they are pretty nonetheless and can add a just little extra flair to a particular eye makeup look.
As for me I would repurchase. This is one of Almays better mascaras imo.

i love this mascara! it makes my lashes so long and full. i got the black steel in a pack with the coordinating eyeliner (which i also love!) for blue eyes. it is very black with really tiny sparkles in it that look very pretty under the light (i guess thats what they mean by "light interplay technology"). normally i don't like very black mascara (i usually opt for brownish black) because i am blond and it always ends up looking clumpy on me, but this does not have any clumps. i put one coat on this morning and then tonight i put another coat on and it was fine. it claims to "enhance your natural eye color" but i don't think it does anything to enhance my eyes. the price was around $8 at target which is acceptable for this mascara. overall a really good mascara!

I absolutely love this product! I am a total mascara junkie, and love to try all kinds, and so when I saw this with the whole light interplay technology, I went straight for it when I got to the store. I love how it actually does sparkle at times and does catch the light. It hasn't clumped once more me, and thickens and lengthens my lashes to a beautiful extent. I also love the pitch black color! The brush is fabulous, because it is big and full and got every eyelash. I am definitely going to buy this product again, and I do recommend it, and quite highly at that!

Bought this along w/ an eyeliner in the chocolate brown color. Like the other reviewer mentioned, it doesn't do too much to enhance eye color, but I didn't expect as much ( : Formula is OK, but a little dry and for me, clumps easily, and didn't do much for length; but it does volumize well. I bought it more for the color- a rich, chocolate brown with a bit of subtle glimmer and sparkle- absolutely gorgeous. The best part is the color actually shows when you apply it, which is rare for a colored macara

I can't vouch for the price, because I won this in a giveaway, but this has become my new HG mascara next to Maybelline Full & Soft. I have never been impressed with Almay mascaras at all but this hit the jackpot in many ways. I got this in Black Flash, now as far as it enhancing eye color I don't think it does that. I haven't found a mascara that claims that and actually delivers. However in every other way this mascara is amazing. It is volumizing and lengthening without clumping or smudging and I'm overall very pleased. My lashes look thick, full, and long. I definitely recommend it. Regardless that I won it in a giveaway I will repurchase.
