This is another basic black with lots of frosting. Although many a young lass will like this for nights on the prowl, these old eyes look sort of raccoonish so I am returning it post-haste. Very nice though for you young'uns and that smoky eyed look. Lots of sparkle.

I bought all 4 MES from Style Black and this is my favorite. I've been wearing this every day over the Greasepaint Stick and the combination is stunning. It actually gives my lids a wet shiny look I can only describe as pure sex! The colour is a blackened bronze/brown/gold, kind of hard to describe. The texture is very soft, smooth and blendable. Despite the shimmer it stayed put all day and it didn't migrate all over my face. The glitter is very finely milled and has a certain subtleness to it that makes it wearable for daytime. As for packaging and price I don't have any complaints, I think this product was worth every single penny. Since this is LE I did buy a backup because I've been wearing it every day and see myself grabbing it often in the future. There is tons of product in this so the backup may not have been necessary, but if for some reason I did run out I would repurchase. One tip: DO NOT drop this, or any other MES because it will break.

I'm so glad I went ahead and purchased this MES from the style black collection ! The color is absolutely GORGEOUS ! I also went ahead and purchased Young Punk. But I think Gilt By Association has more of an advantage to do a "Day wear" as well and not just for a night out. It's a beautiful subtle black MES with golden shimmer/glitter. To make it more intense just add a black base before applying the MES wet.
Such a pretty color, too bad it's L/E but I know I won't be using this too often so it should last me a VERY long time. ; )

Very nice. I love the gold foil effect. I used this over sharksin....won;t be doing that again. too dark but for a night out is stunning. the gold is very smoky and almost taupy? I put a touch of woodwinked on with this ...just in the inner corner and to smudge my black liner. the colors really work well together. won't buy again because as pretty as this is it is not a staple. and it is a huge pot that will last forever.

I think this eyeshadow is just ok. It dies not go on all that pigmented unless you use a black base or fix+ and it's really sheer. but it's worth buying and a really really pretty color!!!!!!!!

I bought this product last Thurs and wore it Sat, it didn't have good coverage initially and only looked okay when it was foiled and when I layered it on top of Cover Girls Queen Collection's *(After Midnight) it also had a bunch of glitter fall out, I am not really satisfied with the product and I think I'll be returning it. Im glad I didn't get the whole line.

Finally a mineralized eyeshadow with good pigmentation. Gives my eyes a sultry look without too much work.

Don't get me wrong - this is a fantastic product! My shadow has more black than many I've seen on youtube, reviews, etc. so it doesn't come out as a bright gold, but slightly greenish instead. That part was fine by me. I confess I actually returned this once. Since then...I was sucked in by the LE nature of Style Black and bought it again, vowing to *make* it work because it is quite simply too gorgeous. As for the texture, I have zero problems. It works beautifully foiled with a slightly damp brush and is nice as a regular dry shadow that allows for subtle buildup. I never had major trouble with glitter falling everywhere; certainly less of a problem than other mineral shadows I've tried. Hence: I give it a lower lippie score based on my personal coloring not working but marked I would purchase again since it is a great product in every other regard. Sadly, the Intense Black Greasepaint Sticks have sold out everywhere, so I'm going to have to be more creative in creating a black base. Next up to try is using a black sparkly eyeshadow as a base and Wet n Wild's cream liner in black.

If you like it 'lightly smoked', then this is the eyeshadow for you! I saw this at the MAC counter yesterday and immediately said 'Ooooohhh'. LoL. There really is a perfect marriage of the black and gold to give it some depth without it being straight up black. The Style black collection *does* remind me an awful lot of the Nars Night Series. BUT, while Nars' eyeshadows ALL really do pull black as their primary color when applied, MAC's actually seem to do a better job of allowing the colorful glitter to mesh (and show up) in a much more vibrant way than Nars. *Sidenote* that wasn't to knock Nars' series, because I actually own 3 or 4 of their shadows, and use them to make the best eyeliner EVER applied wet.
Ok, back to MAC (LoL). It does have larger glitter (shimmer particles) than I would have liked. For some reason, some of these Mineralized eyeshadows seem to have a ton of glitter (for my standards anyway). Or maybe it was the way it was applied...When I asked the MA if I could try this on, she applied it wet on one eye, dry on the other so I could see the difference. To tell you the truth, I saw the 'potential' immediately in this color - BUT I hated seeing all the fallout glitter past the corners of my eyes, and on my face. You know how they sometimes PACK makeup on you, and you're thinking OK - I can work with this because this color wouldn't look bad if it's applied more *sensibly*. LoL. Sure enough, today, I wore GBA near the lashline and up to the crease, where I softened it with Glamour Check. That combo left me with a beautiful *soft* smokey eye that has held up very nicely through the day. I applied mine dry though, and with a delicate touch. What I was grateful for was the fact that this shadow could be built up for intensity, but could also be rather understated if that's what you're going for as well. As far as the actual color description, I think the pics attached to this thread show it perfectly! I'm even considering Young Punk next. that's how much I liked this one.

I just picked this up yesterday, it was the only eye shadow I wanted from the Style Black Collection and I have mixed feelings about it. When you swatch it, it is dynamite, but for some reason on my eveys it didn't look as nice. I've only worn it once, dry, with no primer or base of any kind underneath. Just the shadow and fluidline. It was still very pigmented, but you couldn't see a whole lot of the gold in there. Maybe I should have used it wet? What do you guys think?? HELP!

Gotta use Fix+ or some sort of base for it to stick to! I recommend Fix+ though. Think Carbon with gold ontop. That's basically what it looks like. Beautiful gold though. Think gold foil :) I love this but it's a tad of a hassle to use because it won't be a quick to-go look :( But stunning at night!! :D

I really like this eyeshadow, if you have any of the NARS's night series eyeshadows (like night clubbing and the gold sparkles just came off,) then this is like NARS's night clubbing but better because the gold and bronze sparkles actually show up! I see myself doing a lot of smokey eyes because its not total blackness, it seems to have a gold undertone. It'll look gorgeous with other golds, browns and bronzes and it works well when its dry but its just absolutely stunning when applied wet. It was pricey though $26 CAN but its so rare you find gorgeous black eyeshadows like this.
EDIT: I used this under NYX's black bean pencil (used a thin coat) and applied the e/s wet. To my surprise, after 8hrs, the e/s and the all the sparkles were still there!! I'm really impressed.
So some ppl are saying that this e/s is just black eyeshadow mixed with some MAC reflects antique gold glitter. NOT TRUE. I took some of my antique reflects gold glitter, and mixed it with some black eyeshadow, well it was a completely different effect. The glitter just sits on top (I'm sure if you mixed in some gold e/s it'll look more similar), it doesn't look meshed in like Gilt.

I really did not like this at all.
I have yellow undertones and this applied to my lids look dirty and it made my eyes tired. I normally cannot wear browns and with black and gold together, my eyes kinda had this tarnished, dirty brown look to it.
Im returning it. I also didn't find there was much colour payoff with this one and a bit too shimmery for my liking.
it's not a colour i would pick up, so therefore it is going back.
However, if browns work for you, give this try. It really is a pretty colour other than it not working on me and it could be my skintone.

gilt by association is a shimmery/glittery antiqued gold with black undertones. i got all 4 of the mineralized from style black but was most excited to wear this one. the color is soooo gorgeous. i can't emphasize that enough. it's perfect in very way. i've never seen a color like it anywhere, similar yes, but not the same. i applied this by spritzing my brush with fix+ then gathering product on my brush [you can also spray the actual product, use water/mixing medium, or use it dry]. it went on smoothly with zero fallout. the pigmentation and wear [no creasing] was great. i love that fact that you can used these mes wet/dry with no fears of ruining the product [though if you spray the actual e/s you should let it air dry].

I have to get a backup of this! It's the most beautiful color. I know that most people don't like the mineralize eyeshadows but I really like this one. The color comes out like a smokey bronze gold color. The black in this adds the smokey quality to it which is so gorgeous and I think that the texture is nice. It's not smooth and creamy but the glitter is not chunky at all. I tapped the brush before application and there was no fallout. I really like this it's one of my favs. I don't know what the others are like but this one is good to wear dry for a more subtle look. Using wet will intensify the color.
