Chanel's Lift Lumiere is a difficult foundation to work with.
I'll echo the other reviewers' opinions:
- I'm Faience .5 - the lightest shade and normally I'm 1.0 in Chanel foundations
- This foundation takes time - 15 minutes - to fully settle in and look good
- Because of that, blending and getting that perfect canvas is hard. My morning routine doesn't include a 15 minute break to let my foundation settle in.

All that said, when it does settle down, it's a great slightly dewy finish. I have dry skin even in the summer and I quite like the feel of the foundation. It's been 90 degrees or more every day I've worn this so I can't in good conscience judge how long it wears but I'd say it is performing admirably - not as solid as EL DW or MAC SS, but good. I wouldn't recommend this particular formulation for oily skin.

All in, I think there are better alternatives to this foundation because the settling process is just too much work. I'm still on the hunt for my personal holy grail.

LOVE. I thought Vitalumiere was wonderful (and it is) but the LL gives me a more glowy complexion rather the dewey look I get with VL. I chose Faience 0.5, which is perfect for my fair skin and tones down the little bit of redness I get around my nose. I apply this foundation with my fingers and then set my T-zone with Poudre Universelle Libre in Clair. I find that I need very little or no concealer with this foundation. It looks great and lasts on my dry skin. The cost is a bit steep, but I'd definitely repurchase.

I've tried every mac foundation, nars sheerglow, revlon colorstay and many, MANY more of all different prices. I had to buy the 2 lightest shades(faience and clair)and mix them, but the finish is AMAZING! i used the mac 180, some days i've used the mac 109 and i get a beautiful even finish with a slight glow. i have combination/dry skin and had tried vitalumiere(too shiny and not enough coverage), and prolumiere(didn't like the uneven finish i wound up with) but the lift lumiere gives me the finish and coverage i love and i don't even have to use much product. with a light dusting of mac msf it looks beautiful. very very happy, will pay the 65.00 gladly for this!!!

I love this product!
-Its great for my light skin tone (20 clair)
-Its finish is amazing( not cakey at all)
-It has SPF to keep my skin safe from the sun
-I can feel a difference in the firmness of my skin
-Makes my skin feel soft and smooth(not sticky)

The only problem is it is a bit hard to apply otherwise,
perfect!

BEWARE OF TRICK PACKAGING! I like the product, but for 60 dollars...After a couple of months I couldn't get the pump to get much product. Unlike some brands, you can't open the dispenser to shake or scrape any out, so I actually took a hammer to the bottle, thinking I could safely scrape some into another container. There is a cylinder inside the rectangular outer part which is significantly smaller and is tinted the color of the foundation (no, that's not what you see through the outside, it's tinted plastic!) There is MUCH LESS product than I thought. Buy Armani instead!

This one is semi-matte. I actually wanted a more matte foundation when I was looking, I used to love, Teint Natural which was crazy-style matte airbrush fake looking (Gosh, I miss that stuff!) So SA told me this was a replacement. I got it in Faience the lightest shade. It has great staying power-that was the most noticeable quality. The way it looks at 6pm is the way it looked at noon. Rather then super matte, it is more glow from within but it is suitable for oily skin, which I have, and it doesn't slide off and get into monster pores.

Truly THE best foundation I have ever used. I know some users suggest to wait 10-15 minutes for it to meld with your skin but it was perfect from the get go. I disliked Vitalumiere because it was so sheer and unbuildable plus it was way too slick but this, this is amazing. I have it in the shade Faience which is a perfect match. That's it, I'm done, I have found my HG.

I have tried so many foundations from so many different brands (GA, Guerlain, LP, Shiseido, EL, Clinique etc...)
This is my absolute favourite! Makes my skin look smooth, with a radiance from within. My HG liquid foundation. I am now on my second bottle.

This is the new IT foundation for me. I have oily skin, but recently not so oily because I am on accutane, and this foundation is a god send. It does not cake on, doesn't rub off, and feel light weight. It's very pigmented so I don't need a lot to cover my face/ neck/ chest. I lightly go over my neck and chest with the foundation just to make it even. I cannot recommend this for oily skin type.

I use Lit L in Ivory 2.1. It is SOO a perfect match and it's not too pink which is what I get with a lot of other foundations. I LOVE it!

This is expensive, but worth it. For reference, I am nw 15 or 20 and I have it in the shade ivoire, which is just a little too dark for me in winter. I mix it with le blanc de Chanel(which I love!) and it lightens it up.

To apply, I use my philosophy air brush brush. I first put moisturizer on with the brush, then I blend together le blanc with lift lumiere and blend it all over. I set it with a loose powder or BE mineral veil and it lasts all day. I only wear it on weekends so I can't tell if it would break me out if I wore it everyday, but I can say that this is my favorite foundation. I have seen a noticeable improvement in my make up when I have it on. It looks like I'm not wearing any at all. My skin in pictures looks so good too, really dewy and not oily. It doesn't settle into lines or pores either. Probably my new HG!

UPDATE: This is an HG for me in fall/winter/spring (I'm a little too oily to use it in summer). It's my fave foundation!

Tested today on my search for a new foundation to replace Pro Lumiere which I cannot stand that replaced my Vitalumiere creme that I loved. Colour was whitish and off. It looked like it was settling into my pores and all powdery looking. It accentuated dehydration lines. It's a no.

Good foundation but not fantastic (especially considering the price). The colour is a good match for my pale complexion (NC15/20 and I use Faience 0.5), but the finish is "cakey".

The finish improves if I apply the foundation with Mac 187 brush (a more airbrushed effect), but overall I am not impressed. It is not flawless.

The trouble with me is these three huge pores on my cheek. The challenge was to find a foundation that hid them, not highlighted. This did it, but not every time. Could it be user error upon reading your fabulous reviews? I tried brush, sponge and hands.

It did not settle into fine lines and wrinkles. It did not make me oily. I don't think I'm as oily as I think I am. Color (cendre 2.5) was iffy, much better in the summer, they must have matched my freckles. Now I'm pale, pale pale. The Shiseido liquid compact is now my holy grail.

EDIT: (Shiseido not holy grail, any more.) Last summer I used faked tanners, in winter it was way too dark. I just tried the 2.0 Claire in Lift Luminance, and it is quite fantastic. The luminance part is a trifle more glowy, but didn't give an oily skin sheen. Neither did it have any shimmers to it.

I love my Vitalumiere and was told the Lift Lumiere was better. I read how this needs to be on for a bit while it melts into your skin and makes your skin flawless. Yeah, right. It didn't melt anywhere and it made me look like I had a mask on. I had a small sample and only used a small amount so over applying wasn't the issue. My sister-in-law asked me what I did because my skin didn't look as good as it usually does. I guess if you like a heavy full coverage this would be for you. Now I know why my cousin who told me about it looked so much older when I saw her. Sorry but this just didn't do it for me and I LOVE Chanel foundations.

My HG foundation. I use this in Soft Bisque on my medium complexion. Love that it is a pump and that it has a touch of sunscreen (SPF 15). Provides me medium coverage that lasts all day and never settles into pores, no break-outs or clogs. A little goes a long way. With my routine, one pump is usually enough, two pumps max. I don't like that I can't tell how much product is left, so I have to keep a backup handy after a few months time. I find it applies nicely with the fingers.

I cannot say enough good things about this foundation. For me, it is about as near perfect as I am going to find. I buy way too many foundations and can't wait til a new one comes out, so that I can rush right out and buy it. Other than this costing me totally unnecessary money, I end up using them a few times and then deciding I don't like them as well as I thought, leaving me on that never-ending search for foundation perfection. I finally came to the conclusion that I was never going to find anything that was perfect for me. Well, along comes Lift Lumiere and I may have to change my mind.

I should mention here that I have liked other Chanel foundations but have had problems with them irritating my skin, so I was somewhat skeptical to try this. Voila! This covers my imperfections and redness very well and leaves my skin looking luminous and dewy, but not overly so to where I look like a grease ball. It does not break out my sensitive skin and actually seems to make my mature skin look better. The real testament to this is that I finished the entire bottle and just went out and bought my second one yesterday. Can't remember the last time this happened!

What a gold mine of information I have discovered here!

I am a Chanel Vitalumiere devotee, but last week in an absolute panic (foundation completely gone, important meeting 30 minutes away) rushed in to my local Chanel supplier only to find that my colour (20 Clair) was out of stock. She suggested I try Lift Lumiere (but I suspect, as she was from a neighbouring counter and not a Chanel rep, she did't have much of a clue).

I have REALLY struggled with it. I am used to smeering on Vitalimiere, gettin great coverage and perfect colour and rushing out the door.

This seems so hard! The colour seems a bit too pale, but mostly I just can't seem to get the application right. The comments here about waiting are so valuable: I know it looks better after a time, and also I can see I need to use less.

I was at the point of abandoning this product, but on the basis of these reviews I'll give it another shot!!!

Thanks so much

Hi! I have combo skin and do not agree with the reviewers who said this is not for oily skin! Well, we are all aware that we should not wear foundation all over the face like a mask , unless you want to look like you're wearing full-on make-up! I use this all over except on my nose and forehead. I do apply it on my cheeks, around my nose and temples, but not in the middle of my forehead and tip of my chin. The results are just great. I love dewy skin - HATE matte even though I have combo skin. If you learn how to apply it, you'll love it!

This is my HG foundation - LOVE IT! Lightweight yet evens out skin beautifully, dewy without being in any way sparkly, blends so easily, skin looks and feels as if you're not wearing any MU, and it lasts all day on me. Shade 05 Faience matches my skin perfectly, and I have had no breakouts from this gorgeous foundation. Will continue to repurchase forever!

I guess that I will be the first sour apple about this foundation. The MUA at the Chanel counter is one of my favorites and asked if I knew about this and wanted to try it on during an event. I agreed. After she did a whole makeup look and I was going home, I examined my face in the mirror. I did not know what to expect but I thought that the finish was a little on the matte side. She also gave me two samples to try at home. I let some time pass and one day on a whim, I tried it. I had a little trouble blending this product and it seems as if you only need a little bit, which is a good thing. I am also reading that people are liking the color choices which are more suitable for their complexions. I like the Vitalumiere better. The color (Cameo or Clair) suits me and also the finish is a little dewier. I have extremely dry skin and Vitalumiere feels so much better on my skin. So I do not regret trying it as a sample but I will not be buying this for me.
