After finding the original Bare Escentuals a bit too 'shiny' on its own, I thought I'd give this one a go. I bought it in 'Fair'. I think it doesn't gives quite as good a coverage as the original version and it *sort of* keeps the oily t-zone at bay for a good few hours, but I still find myself having to touch up my t-zone by late afternoon. I'm not sure if I'd purchase the Matte version again as it's too expensive for what it is (and not to mention time consuming!), but I've done a bit of alchemy and mixed half of my original Fairly Light with half of this pot of Light Matte and got the coverage and consistency I love! But sod that for a long-term solution, I think I'd be sticking to my MAC studiofix powder once this has ran out (yes, I'm lazy)!!EDIT: I've given this a month, gone back my unmixed version (just the matte that I bought), tried my mixed version numerous times and hate hate hate it! I look like one of those old women who cake their face in too much powder and that's even with my light hand! Ugh. Wish I'd never bought it.

Blech, gets dark and greasy pretty quickly. I used to use the original formula until I realized how shiny it was and how much it settled into lines. I also had difficulty matching my pale yellow-toned skin. I thought this one might be a better bet, since the palest shade, Fair, tested well in the store and it advertizes as "matte". Within an hour it had oxidized to an orangey-red shade. My neck and face were very obvious! It also felt heavy. For some reason, I imagined this would provide good coverage, but feel light and airy. Not so! I have combination, sensitive skin and it became greasy in about 2 hours, more so than normal. This is definitely a miss for me, it's going back to the store. There are several easy powders for sensitive skin out there- I will stick with Dior Extreme powder, which never breaks me out, has a great pale shade, lasts all day and takes 10 seconds to apply.

I tried out a sample of this and decided against buying the full size product for several reasons. For one, this powder foundation emphasizes my pores and imperfections. It looks worse after it has been on my face for a few hours. I also noticed that any lines are accentuated, especially in my eye area, making me look older. This would probably work for someone with near perfect skin, but I'm not that candidate so I will stick with liquid foundations.

I agree with Weezie24. As a matter of fact, I thought I was the only person who has oily skin who knows your skin care routine and products you use will effect how your makeup will look on you. With that being said, I use Korres skin care products which are awesome. I started out just using the oil control products, but seeing as I will be 30 in seven months I started using the anti-aging and oil control products. I also realized that it is essential for those with oily skin to exfoliate at least once a day. Since my skin care routine has been figured out, any makeup I put on my face looks good regardless. Adn I'm not a makeup artist. I'm just someone who likes to take care of their skin and body.

I tried to get this to work.. but no such luck. After not liking the original formula and still on the hunt for my HG foundation I decided to see if the matte would be better for my combo skin. As much as it was nice to have a matte face for a change, it was so obvious I was wearing powder and I didn't even apply that much. I blended and blended and blended with many different brushes to try to get it to look "flawless" or "real skin" but it just didnt work. I want that naturally matte face not one where you can see the powder all over my pores. On the bright note it didn't make me itch!

I bought this because I have oily skin so I thought it would be better to control the oil. It gave me a very natural look which I loved. But I was still pretty oily. Also I have large pores and it just made them look even larger :[ After a while I noticed it started to make my skin itchy, so I returned it.

I'm really upset. I have heard all of the reviews about this brand so I wanted to try it myself. Well, I went to get color matched and the lady there told me I wore dark (4c). I took it home and applied it all over, and it was way too dark. I bought the matte product because I have oily skin and after reading some of the reviews it could have been that she color matched me using the original formula since the matte formula tends to be a bit darker. It also makes me look ashy, and makes me look like I have a lot of makeup on and doesn't cover my blemishes well. I don't really like putting a lot of product on so I want a foundation that can cover blemishes by itself. As for it controlling oil, I doubt it. I tried it on at home and my nose (which is the oiliest portion of my face) already had oil spots after about 30 minutes. This is a waste of my money and I can't get a return since I've opened it. I wish I would have read the reviews before buying this because an average rating of 3 out of 5 for this price isn't good. Should have just bought it off eBay.

I liked the pot against the old one. That is the only positive things to say on this rubbish product.I applied two coats of this and my skin still looked bad, applied another coat and still the same. I then threw it in the bin because I am not realisticallly going to use a foundation that needs more than three applications. I do not have the time or the inclination to be messing about with foundation for 20 minutes in the morning. The coverage was rubbish, the matte effect was rubbish. Save your money and skip this one

I always HATED mineral makeup. I've used liquid makeup for as long as I can remember. I've even purchased Bare Escentuals and returned it before because I just couldn't understand how it worked for people. I recently picked up a sample of the Matte version and I'm in love!! I used a large dense kabuki brush to apply it and I actually used a lot more product then they recommend. I pretty much skipped the tapping the excess product off part and just put whatever was on my brush on my forehead, cheeks, and chin and then blended it all in circles. I like medium/full coverage so this was the best method for me! It looks just as good, if not better, than my liquid makeup. Great for summer because it feels lightweight and its quick to apply and touch up. If this wears well through the day I'm going to pick up a full size! So glad I finally discovered how to use this makeup !
