I was so excited when I found out that there was a matte foundation in the BE series! And then I tried it.. I can't even explain the expectations I had for this product, I thought that all my problems with shiny skin would be over, but unfortunately it wasn't. I think that it is exactly the same as the ordinary BE foundation, except a lighter coverage. The only reason that I'm going to buy this again is because I've been using BE foundations for a while, so I have purchased all the brushes. And it doesn't make me break out. I hope that they come up with something new that actually can give you some shine free days in the summer!

I wanted to like this product, but unfortunately i did not. i got it b/c i needed a matte foundation for the summer. this did not keep the oils at bay...i got oily withing 2 hours and had to constantly blot my face even if i applied another powder on top of this. my liquid foundations set with powder work much better than this for controlling the oils

i got this from my mom because she had an extra one. i think it gives pretty good, light coverage nice matte finish. the only reason i only gave it 3 lippies is because my lorel mineral powder is just as good if not better, it give a bit more coverage and i feel lasts a little longer. this is pretty expensive for a powder and i feel like you can get one just as good from the drugstore. i have normal skin, fair to medum and not super sensitive. so i dont have to be super picky with what i put on it.

I'm a huge fan of Bare Minerals, but on my skin, I honestly cannot tell a difference between this formula and the original. I like it, but I don't think it's worth the extra money or the extra hype. I won't be repurchasing this formula again, but I will get the original

I used Bare Minerals for a couple years in the mid 2000s, but eventually I got sick of the mess and the shine it gave my face. On a whim I decided to try the new matte formula. I love the locking sifter. I hate everything else. This stuff looked like mud on my face. I had to press the buki brush into my face really hard to get it to blend in, and while the color match was good, after an hour or so my pores looked bigger than moon craters. It didn't seem to control oil, and it didn't even my skin out any better than anything else in my stash. I returned this, and I will not repurchase.

Matte is your standard, matte foundation that has a slightly thick and creamy texture thanks to the high amount of titanium and zinc oxides in it. It still has a slight amount of glow to it but does offer a high amount of coverage. I would leave this one behind only because I don't feel like the staying power is there, the shade range is up to par with those from other brands (and even DS brands like L'oreal or Revlon), and that it'll cover very acne prone problematic skin types.

Pros: Keeps me mat and by the end of the day, i have a semi-glow look. Great coverage with the full coverage kabuki brush. I love it covered my flaws/acne scars, redness, but it still looked like skin/natural.
COns: if i wear this alone, it made me itch when i was outside. After 2 weeks, i noticed it clogged my checks/pores, so i had to return it. I was not going to keep using it.

Ok some of these reviews are driving me crazyyyy.....Im a makeup artist and some things are controlled...
-Do NOT use a silicone primer with this...Although the BE Matte is amazy, their primer stinks..
(Korres anti-aging primer is wonderful) Even for the oiliest...
There product is buildable...One layer is equal to a tinted moisturizer and 3 layers is regular foundation...You build what you want...
If your having oil control problems even while using this, the problem could very easy be your skincare routine...If you are using the wrong product...Well then your throwing your money away...
And yes pressure is key and use the right brush...You want the product to get into the natural bristles and really do its job...
Hope this helps...Sorry had to vent...

This is the formula I am currently using. I left Bare Minerals for awhile because of the shine I would get with the original formula (mica-induced). I'm not one for "illuminizing" since my skin does that all on its own. I really like this and have been wearing it for 8 months now. I just recently purchased the spf to wear over it and I'm finally getting that flawless finish I've always wanted in a foundation. The only issue I have with BM is that touch-ups are somewhat difficult. It isn't as easy as pulling out a pressed powder compact. But considering I feel this is far improved than the original formula and how much I enjoy mineral makeups, I feel it is worth it.
Not sure it is an HG yet (I have been searching for that for years), but I would consider repurchasing once my current supply runs out. I used to wear expensive liquids when I had access to higher end department stores, but I really like the light texture and coverage of a MMU than I do the super pricey fancy foundations.
UPDATE August 2012. I'm still using this as my daily foundation. I cover it with the spf 25 mineral veil. Still happy. It doesn't do full coverage, but that isn't what I need at this point. I mainly need shine control. I love it that BM is leaning towards pressed products. They are a lot easier to handle.

I LOVE this! It makes my face feel smooth and matte, and it hides imperfections and large pores beautifully. I must admit, during my first uses i hated it. My face looked blotchy, and my pores were enlarged. But when I applied it correctly (with a kabuki brush) it was wonderful. It evens my skin tone and over time diminishes pores!
Many bad reviews are probably caused by wrong colour choice!
