Being a makeup cult item, I assumed that this would be a great mascara, but I was pretty disappointed with the results. I bought a value pack for 6 dollars that came with two tubes of Great Lash. I only like two things about it: great color payoff and easy to remove. Other than that, it doesnt do much for me. The formula is too runny to hold curl, it dries really slowly, it clumps after you put on a 3rd coat, it flakes and smudges after a couple of hours. There are so many things wrong with this mascara, I think the only reason why it's a favorite is because its one of the first "no-clump" mascaras, which is true....if you don't try to add more than 2 coats. I actually do like the shape of the wand, its small and tapered so I can maneuver it easily. The packaging is also a distinctive trademark. Overall, I would not buy again.

This is the mascara I grew up seeing on my mom's countertop. I thought it was going to be wonderful. Thinking back, this was my first mascara purchase about 11 years ago or so. I hated it. It was too runny and that brush is a joke! I finally found the holy grail of mascara, Diorshow, and introduced it to my mom. Although she loved it, she still buys Great Lash. Go figure, old habits die hard. My advice, don't get stuck in a Great Lash beauty rut - spend the few extra dollars and you won't believe your eyes, literally!

This was my very first mascara.
Despite its name, I found nothing great about it at all.... in fact the cheap E.L.F. mascaras did more for my lashes than this did... and elf is 1/4 the price >_>
Won't buy again, my lashes felt clumped and gross, flaking involved. Not worth it even if its like 5$ there are better ones cheaper than this, and some only a few $ more.

Every time i try to wear this product my lashes clup. the wand doesn't have enough bristles for my taste and it's really watery along with smudging easily.

Ugh, I really don't understand the hype with this mascara. It's watery, messy, and does absolutely no favors for my lashes. Last time I purchased it, I threw it out a day later; it's that worthless to me.

This in my opinion is for people who were blessed with nice lashes. It basically just enhances them. Doesn't do much volumizing or lengthening, if at all. The hype that surrounds this is due to its small wand which can easily be reached into the corner lashes and its very layerable. Not worth it if you ask me.

I really don't get the hype and accolades that this mascara receives. I have tried it several times over the years (just in case I've missed something before). The consistency is too thin for my tastes, the brush is too small, and the product always ends up smudging under my eyes.
Age: 18 & Under Skin: Dry, Fair-Medium Hair: Black Eyes: Brown
It adds volume to my lashes, and it looks like I am wearing mascara.
It's actually my first mascara and I loved it.
It's also a fairly reasonable price for the quality.
Since i didn't get the waterproof one, it sometimes smudges.
Don't use it on your lower lashes.
I really liked it at first.
However, getting a 20 dollar mascara really changed my views.

One of the worst mascara's I've used yet. The colour was okay, but I wasn't pleased with the clumping that I got. I wouldn't recommend this mascara.

Nope I would not buy this again -- in fact I didn't buy it in the first place, but received a free tube as a promotion on a recent JetBlue flight. I was curious, having not used this since I was about 13, and of course we all know the hype this stuff gets EVERY MONTH and EVERY YEAR. Nope, didn't live up to the hype on my relatively short and thin lashes, which nonetheless, when I curl them and use volumizing mascara, ARE capable of looking extremely thick (even though it's not true!). But this stuff didn't do A THING for them. OK, it made them look a little darker. That's IT. Wow.
Here is my theory. Understanding the HUGE value of all those magazine endorsements (I mean look at how many of us on MUA have tried this stuff, even though it has a pathetic 26% Buy Again rate!!!) the Maybelline folks buy their way onto the top of the lists as many times as the magazines let them. (That stuff is all dictated by ad dollars anyway, I mean come on, we all know that women's mags are basically just catalogs for all the products and clothes we love and want to buy.) This creates a cycle where people like us are curious enough to try it, buy one tube, hate it, never buy it again, but meanwhile Maybelline has shelled out the bucks to put GL on the top of some other list, and it starts over again. Do that enough times and suddenly you've got a "cult classic" on your hands.
Seriously, there is no other explanation. This mascara is just so BORING in its lack of volume, length, interesting brush or formula -- it has NOTHING to offer! Maybe it's like the state-of-the-art mascara for the ladies of Mad Men in 1962, but come on people, it is 2008!
I have heard makeup artists say that they love it because the formula dries slowly and so gives them the time they need to make adjustments, but I don't really believe it. This stuff is just too boring for words.
