Coconut Oil is my secret weapon. Seriously. I am a hairstylist in a very nice salon, and I use this in my hair all the time. My clients always ask me how i get my hair so shiny and healthy, which is super long and in AZ very hard to keep hydrated. I should be saying the expensive treatments my salon sells, but they are always shocked when I say Coconut Oil. Straight up, scoop some out, rub it in your hands to melt it, apply to dry hair, comb through, wait 20 minutes (or more) and wash it out. It is easily absorbed into the hair and you will see immediate results, but over time, your hair will be soft and supple and oh-so-shiny. I also recommend this for dry or flakey scalps. Believe me, I have tested every product out there. For a $10 jar that will last a lifetime, this can't be beat.

I am completely and totally OBSESSED with coconut oil, I love it, I dont know I got through life without it...it is topically it is one of the best things i have ever done for me skin/hair...
Body:
I use this product all over my body, it replaces my lotions, creams, baby oils, etc. I put it in the shower with me so it warms up (it turns to liquid at 76 degrees) and as soon as i get out i apply it to my body while it is still damp. And it judt glides into my skin. I rub it everywhere. Then I either air dry or towel off a little. After a few minutes it seeps into the skin and your body has a healthy glow. I went tanning a little while ago and ive found that it maintains your tan longer. It also makes the other all appearance of your skin more even. I just feel like my skin glows, i love it. Sometimes lotions will cause a "5 minute rash" after application, and this does not irritate my skin at all, if anything its evened out my skin tone.
Face:
If you have dry skin (that is not prone to acne, i dont know how it works on sensitive skin) it is a great moisturizer. Sometimes i apply it at night, i may dab a touch into my facial moisterizer, and it gives my skin a nice glow. I will apply it on an old zit and in a few days it disappears, no scaring or anything. I have combination skin, more oily to normal, and i really think my skin has improved since using it, i apply it nightly around my eyes and ive found that it not only "promotes lash growth" but its also made the skin under my eyes where my "bags" are even out in tone and become softer.
Hair:
Best Pre-Conditioner ever. I part my hair and rub it into the scalp, then coat the ends of my hair, maybe all of it if i feel like making a mess. I usually dont like to sleep in it over night bc it messed up my pillows (even if i put something on my head) so I will put a plastic cap on and sit under the dryer for 15-20 minutes. I do have to wash my hair more thoroughly bc it does take a while to get out. But i no longer have any type of dandruff (even in the winter) and my hair is soooo soft and manageable and i have A LOT of hair. When i wear my hair "natural" and really curly i just add a little to my ends and the roots before i apply my leave in conditioner and my hair is less frizzy.
LASTLY: regardless what you put it on, it smells amazing, my mother hates the smell of coconuts but when i put this on my skin she loves it. other pple compliment me on my smell, lol...it doesnt smell like a lotion or perfume...its like you stood in a kitchen all day making cookies and now you smell delicious!

I have KP on my arms my whole life. Then I read about how this stuff improves KP, then I bought one jar in GNC. For $30. That's very expensive if you ask me, feel like a rip off. However I still have the hope that it'll make my KP disapear.
But, I don't see any dramatic improvement on my arm after 2 weeks of using it.
I also use it on my elbow, which is the driest place on my body and it doesnt do much.
Also the oil gets contaminated easily, I scooped out smaller amounts into another mini jar, then use it from that mini jar. In about 2 weeks the mini jar started to smell bad.
I'm very disappointed.

I love Coconut Oil! It works so well to soothe psoriasis and dry skin. It is amazing if you mix a little coconut oil with course sea salt and use it as an all natural exfoliate in the shower. It also works wonders on the hair and is very moisturizing for severe dry areas like elbows or feet. Did I mention it smells amazing and is very inexpensive.

Coconut oil is the best body moisturizer. Treats those redish bumps, smooths, moisturizes, tones ( a bit) and smells amazing. AND it's dirt cheap and just feels so darn good to put on. Make sure it's organic unrefined or else you loose the benefits. For the face....well, I'm super paranoid, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but dry skin girls, not prone to acne, absolutley. Save your money ladies and use this natural ingredient.

Truly... one of the very best multi-taskers in my arsenal.
For hair... and overnight pre-wash treat... that's fantastic on my dry, long, overprocessed, thin textured hair.
For skin... body AND face...helps dry patches, sinks in quickly, no breakouts (im not really prone to acne).
For SCALP... this is one of my psoriasis soothers... i suffer w/psoriasis on my scalp... and organic virgin coconut is one of my fail safes when i have a flareup... it always seems to soothe... and it's sooo cheap, and it's natural, and i really recommend it as something for everyone to give a try. (especially w/the summer approaching, it smells like summer)!!!

I have used a number of excellent all natural products on my skin and hair, and coconut oil is my absolute favorite. It is the best thing I've ever put on my skin. I just mix it with sea salt to make a salt scrub and with ordinary white sugar for a fabulous sugar scrub. I use the salt on my body and the sugar on my face. I normally have good skin, but this has made it even better. It clears up discoloration, and moisturizes like you wouldn't believe. My skin is as smooth and soft as a baby's. It's great for the hair as well. The smell is absolutely delicious and so is the taste. My favorite brand is Tropical Traditions (gold label, organic, extra virgin).

I used to use Emu Oil (which is a very nice oil too) and Acne Treatment Gel (from BestBathStore) to keep my skin under control. I avoided Coconut Oil because of reports that it can cause breakouts... but now I am wondering if the bad rap was because people were using refined or hydrogenated coconut oil... because I have found just the opposite is true for me with Organic Virgin Coconut Oil.
I use a Wonder Cloth (see my review) to keep my pores clean and my skin gently exfoliated. Then I spritz with Heritage Rosewater before apply the oil. You don't have to use this product, but you should always make sure your skin is damp before using any kind of skin oil. The oil will trap the water in your skin to help keep it moisturized, and applying oil to damp skin will minimize any problems.
I have been using Organic Virgin Coconut Oil for the last 4 months and my skin has never been this clear. I don't even need any Acne Treatment Gel any more since switching to Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. This is the first time in my life I haven't need an acne control product.
This page has some interesting information on coconut oil and why it is so good for skin - http://www.coconut-connections.com/skin_care.htm ... it explains how coconut oil has an antimicrobial effect on the skin... which is why it is so good to prevent acne.
Virgin Coconut Oil also contains wonderful antioxidants which is great for preventing and reversing the signs of aging, and I have noticed great improvements in my skin in that regard also. I'm sure the fact that I no longer use any harsh acids, BP or exfoliating agents helps tremendously also.
Nutiva is a highly regarded brand of Organic Coconut Oil, and you can click through the MakeupAlley ad for it to buy it at Iherb and support this wonderful site. If you have never purchased from Iherb, you can use the code ZIF713 to get $5 off your first order too.
The other brand that I love is Garden of Life Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, which is also available from Iherb. I think the quality is comparable to Nutiva, but Garden of Life packages the oil in a glass jar, which I prefer.
I have also mixed the contents of a Now brand Reservatol capsule with about 4 ounces of the organic coconut oil for even greater antioxidant benefits for my skin. (Reservatol is a common anti-aging nutritional supplement usually extracted from red grapes.)
If you are concerned about cystic acne or other problems, I recommend that you:
- make sure your coconut oil is unrefined and organic
- always apply to damp skin
- patch test before using to make sure you don't have an allergy or sensitivity.

I actually haven't tried this on my hair, because it is fine textured and easily weighed down, but I use it in the shower as a moisturizer, and it can't be beat! A great big tub can be bought right in the grocery store, or at a discount from vitamin stores online, and it will last a very long time. I use it mostly in the winter months, and it does a great job of keeping itchy skin at bay. Another thing I noticed is that it doesn't leave the shower floor as slippery as some other natural oils, such as olive, tend to do-easier to clean off as well. (OK that could just be my imagination, but it DID seem that way!) All that, plus it is natural, with no questionable ingredients, and a lovely, beachy, coconut scent that synthetics just can't seem to successfully duplicate. What more could you ask for?

Just bought some EVO; love it for the body, but when I applied it to my face last night, I woke up with little bumps around my chin area. But it works great on my legs and arms etc.
Love the smell!!

This is one of those products that you think, "dang that seems like a waste of money for something pointless". But once you try it - you simply can't live without it! ;)
I use Coconut Oil for my hair. It leaves it soft, conditioned, & shiny. I also mix it in with body butter to extra-moisturize my skin.
Last but not least, I must say I love the scent of this stuff. Come on, it's coconut...who doesn't love that smell? Not overpowering or offensive, compliments any perfume you decide to wear.

I Love this! I used to always get dry brittle ends of my hair that would always break and I have found that by rubbing a small amount onto the ends of my hair has worked wonders (better than alot of expensive hair brands i have tried). I also use as a hair mask (at night time) and I use as a body moisturiser plus it smells great!

I"ve been using this for about six months - extra virgin coconut oil. I use it all over my body as a moisturizer AND my face. It does not make me break out at all! This stuff is great! My skin has never been so soft!!! I've also just started using it for eye make-up removal and it's fab! I'm on my second container and will continue to buy!

I'm using Living Foods brand of Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and I love it for multiple reasons.
1. In my Smoothies in the morning: I put 1 tbsp of coconut oil in my smoothies along with a banana, hemp protein powder, and water for a delicious, satisfying breakfast shake.
2. My body: I use this as a moisturizer for my legs because my legs are ALWAYS dry, and I swear this is the only thing that keeps them moisturized.
3. My Face! I know a lot of people don't like using coconut oil for the face saying that it's comedogenic and will clog pores; I have to say that the exact opposite is true for me. I just use a tiny amount for my face and my skin just drinks it in. My face is never greasy or shiny with this stuff on, and I never break out from it. In fact, I have stopped breaking out since using it. If you only use a little, you shouldn't have a problem. I can even apply makeup over this with no problem at all. Everybody's different, and this just happened to work for me. I also like to apply this on my neck and chest to moisturize and smell yummy!
For only $11/16 oz jar, you have absolutely nothing to lose.

I bought Nutiva's Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, and I love it! I originally bought it for its health benefits, and was only planning on ingesting it, but I've ended up using it for cosmetic purposes. As a MAKEUP REMOVER: Unfortunately, it doesn't remove my makeup very well. Plus, unlike my Softymo cleansing oil, once water hits coconut oil, it doesn't rinse away cleanly. As a MOISTURIZER: I haven't used it for my face, but I have used it on my body. It leaves my skin glowy and moisturized, but it takes forever to absorb, so I don't use it as a body moisturizer anymore. As a LIP BALM: It doesn't seem to do anything but just sit on top of my lips and feel oily. As a LASH CONDITIONER: Fabulous!! My lashes have grown considerably longer and look fuller since using coconut oil on them. Plus, I think my lashes hold a curl better. Yay!!

I use coconut oil as a moisturizer, makeup remover, eyelash treatment. It actually diminishes my dark circles. When I put it on my arms, it improved my kp, or chicken bumps. This is amazing stuff. Go out and buy it right now! A long as you don't apply too much, it will soak into your skin pretty quickly, leaving your skin really soft.

I'm quite a fan of coconut oil. I've been using it for about 3 years now and I don't intend to stop any time soon!
I have several uses for it. Firstly, as a body lotion. It does take a long time to sink in, but if I'm free for the day then I love to pamper myself and rub my whole body with coconut oil. Then I just lounge around naked for an hour before I get dressed (TMI?) It leaves my skin so soft, smooth and glowing! I'm not keen on the smell, but it doesn't bother me much. Anyway, it leaves my skin moisturized for days on end. I also have those small red spots on my upper arms (I forgot the name) and after rubbing this on them, they disappear! If I stop using coconut oil they come back.
My second use is as a hair treatment. I use this pre-shampoo. I dampen my hands with water and run them through my hair, so my hair gets damp but not soaking wet. I then take some coconut oil, rub it between my hands until it turns to liquid, then spread it through the mid-lengths and ends of my hair. I pop a shower cap on and leave it on for 30 minutes, then wash/condition my hair in the shower as normal .It leaves my hair so smooth and silky! I have chemically straightened, dyed hair, so obviously my hair is pretty damaged. But when I use coconut oil on my hair, it looks frizz-free, no flyaways, soft, some added shine...like healthy hair basically. I don't think it's miraculous with my hair, but it makes it look and feel a whole lot better. My hair is also quite more stronger since I started using this, and less prone to serious breakage.
NOTE:- I do find that this fades my hair colour faster if I've dyed my hair, which is annoying.
I also use this as a shaving lubricant. On my underarms/legs/bikini line...anywhere! It works better than any shaving foam I've ever tried. Leaves my skin looking smooth and I don't find myself getting ingrown hairs or irritation.
The remaining usages are as a pre-cleanser and on food. When using as a pre-cleanser, I heat up the coconut oil in the microwave for 1 minute, then apply the oil on my face and massage in. It dissolves the makeup and grime from my face. I then follow up with my regular cleanser. It also leaves my face very moisturized and hydrated. I would never use this as a mositurizer on my face though, because I tried it before and it would always break me out (I have sensitive, breakout-prone skin). But as a pre-cleanser, I've had no problems. It's also a good replacement for regular cooking oils that you use with food. Another reviewer also said she puts this on toast instead of butter - I also do this and find it to be very tasty :)
I would definately recommend coconut oil, it's pretty cheap, natural, and has many uses. Make sure you use EXTRA VIRGIN coconut oil though, and make sure it's in solid form.

at my country they used coconut oil for hair we don`t used for
our skin at all will as a hair conditioner it work for me during my teenage when my then normal long natural brown hair was healthy &
coconut oil made it even more shiny & healthy
but for my now colored & dry hair it doesn`t work anymore
than it did on the past
