I prefer to be as positive as I can about a product, but I have to say this is one of the few that makes it really hard. I bought this hoping it would perform like my Wet 'n' Wild liquid waterproof eyeliners but no such luck. First of all, the applicator was way too floppy for me; WnW's had a stiffer bristle and did not "flop" on the eyeliner. What's kind of strange though is that when I did a comparison of this eyeliner, WnW's, and my MAC Fluidline, this one actually left a mark longer BUT it seemed like the mark it left was cracked and had areas that flakes. When the other two started to fade, it was more gradual and less unattractive looking if that makes any sense. Also, when you do apply it and happen to rub it, it definitely flakes off easily. So for me, this isn't even one of those products that I think "might not work for me but might work for you" but one of those that will likely not work for you either. I did write to e.l.f. to give them my feedback on this and they apologized and offered to refund my money. However, this was almost a year ago and I haven't seen that issue back to my credit card. Luckily, I got a handful of these for just a dollar so it wasn't a huge loss.

ugh. just.. UGH.

E.L.F, i love you, but this eyeliner is just a big fat no-no. fist, it smells TERRIBLE. i didn't even want to put it near my eye because of the smell alone. the sponge tip is hard- okay, fine. but this eyeliner doesn't even stick! i'm one of those girls who CAKES on eyeshadow. i need an eyeliner that'll glide right on as if i were putting liner on bare skin. this one doesn't go on at ALL. what a waste! my eyeshadow kept "deflecting" it, i guess. LAME.

This performs very well in my opinion. It goes on smooth and easy, even though it isn't a brush applicator, its more like a pointy spongey tip- kinda hard but ok. It does not flake or peel. ( I apply it over my eyeshadow and give it ample time to dry before applying my mascara) However cannot deal with the scent- it has the same scent and the ELF waterproof mascara only stronger. It does fade but I cannot stand it. It also tends to make my eyes burn slightly. Will just use NYC liquid eyeliner instead for $1.00 more. Sorry ELF- I like most of their products but can't use this one.

good at what it does , but because it's waterproof it goes a bit .. plasticy ? on the skin ? when it dries . and rubs off easier than trying to use makeup remover . great price considering i don't really use liquid eyeliner often so if it goes off i haven't wasted enough to cry over .

So, this product works and all. And it's pretty waterproof (nothing amazing, Liquid last is ridiculously amazing but at least this isn't goopy like my liquid last has become) It smells absolutely horrible and I guess it's because E.L.F uses cheap materials. Only reason why I'm not gonna buy it again is because I never buy the same eyeliner again I'm constantly looking for something better.

I purchased this waterproof liquid eyeliner in Ash (grey) and Plum for a whopping $1 each.
It is not the best waterproof eyeliner, but at $1--what did I expect?? THe thing I did like about it is the price(of course!), the thin/long brush and the smooth consistency of the formula. What I didn't like about it is that it flakes really quickly.
I dropped the Plum one and the top of the bottle already cracked. I'm sure it is going to dry up soon!
I will not repurchase because of the flakies and that it really does not last throughout the day. You can't retouch it without it getting ugly....

LOL! I really hate this eyeliner. I have it in coffee. The packaging and little brush tip are good, but the formula is awful IMO. It does not go on smoothly, dries too fast, peels and flakes if you try to smudge it and if you touch your eyelashes while applying this, your eyelashes get all crunchy and you have to pull it out. I know its only $1, but why even waste a dollar on something like this. There are other cheapies that are much better.

I got this in Black and Ash. I've really only tried Black since Ash seems too light to me. I liked the brush a lot, very long (like an inch), thin, and skinny, so it's extremely easy to draw a thin line. The only problem may be getting liner in the corners of your eyes. The color is a true black. It's a little strange how it dries, kind of like the way Elmer's glue dries on your skin, and you can peel it off in one piece without leaving any residue. If you ask me, I prefer it that way when I remove it because I don't have to do any hard scrubbing or worry about it getting smudged around. The packaging is a little sleek black bottle; it seems to be pretty common as I've seen the same bottle from Too Faced at Sephora.

Ash. The color is a basic grey.
The packaging is nice with a thin longer wand to give the feel of pencil-like appliance with the skinny brush on the end. I was hoping for the felt tip to practice with, but... I used this as upper liner only. Line went on smooth and skinny. Buildable for thicker line. Dried quickly, the color stayed true and didn't budge until I removed it. If you are new to liquid liners start with this dollar brand for practice and upgrade if you need to.
Would definately repurchase this brand, this color.
Edited to add another lippie. Bang Five! I love this. Great inexpensive staple to keep around. One Dollar. Nice.

I couldn't resist trying E.L.F. stuff - at $1/item (most items), where's the risk? Well, some of it is bad, some is good, but one of my favorites turned out to be their "Ash" (gray) liquid eyeliner.

I tried all of the colors & was surprised to find that they differ in quality! The purple is horrendous: it has the color of a fresh bruise, much too red. (Though if you happen to like that color, I can mention that it's also a little shiny when it dries.) The purple & brown don't seem to go on as well as the others & both tend to flake.

But the gray "Ash" eyeliner is really quite good! It's a nice shade of deep gray, goes on well, wears well... for a buck! I keep one in my purse for "eyeliner emergencies." (lol) I bought a few, and they'll come in handy; if I lose one or have to replace it, for $1 it won't be a problem!

Of the others, the black & midnight blue seemed to be just as good as the gray - it's just that I'm too pale to wear most black liners, & E.L.F.'s blue is too dark for me as well. I can also recommend those two colors, though of course they're hardly going to have you rushing to replace your favorite MAC (etc.) eyeliner with E.L.F.'s!

Perhaps I received a bad bottle too!
When first applied it actually looked really pretty but within half an hour when I looked at my lid close up it had turned into a flakey caked on mess! I literally peeled it right off the lid in one piece....yucky

I'm not really that sad about it though as the main reason I purchased this product was so I can practice with liquid eyeliners.
Thank goodness it was only one dollar :)

I was very pleasantly surprised by this product. I got it in ash, which is a nice grey. The fine tipped brush was goof-proof. It lasted all day without smudging. Couldn't ask for more.

PS there's an online coupon to get products 1/2 price (Carolina) for purchases less than $15

I got this in brown, navy, and purple. I am mainly reviewing the purple one. I don't know if it was a bad bottle but the liquid did not apply smoothly and immediately started flaking and just looking nasty and patchy on my lid. I doubt I will ever use it. Plus it looks more like a brown than a purple. Eh I don't feel bad tossing it since it was only a buck....(the brown and navy seem to apply a bit smoother)
EDIT: OK nevermind this gets 1 lippie. In the hour it has been on my face I now have little eyeliner crumbles all over my cheeks.

Maybe I got a bad bottle? I bought this in black and as soon as I started to use it, the liquid would not flow smoothly and left drops of eyeliner as I attempted to draw a line on my eyelid. Then afterwards, it proceeded to dry and immediately flake off. It was such a mess. I'm disappointed I had such a bad experience when others raved about it. I threw it out after the first try because it was seriously a hazard trying to apply it.

I love this product! I used it for the first time today and wow, it's amazing! Works just as well as the drug store liquid eye liner i've been buying for $8.00 a tube for the last 4 years...it goes on smooth, hasn't clumped or flaked on me yet, so I definately give it a 5 and I will be buying it again!

I bought these in both plum and midnight (dark purple and dark blue) for the sake of experimentation. I first tried Midnight and had a little bit of difficulty opening it. I was worried that the cheap packaging it must have made it a nuisance to screw open and shut but I think I had an anomaly, as I had no trouble with Plum. The colors themselves are gorgeous (rich and multi-faceted, if that makes any sense concerning an eye liner) and they've stay put on my lids all day. They aren't perfect (I find the applicator is a little tricky to get the hang of) but they're nearly ideal for anyone who wants to explore using liquid liners.

Not bad at all! I bought Plum & Midnight simultaneously and found that they both had felt tips that were thickish, short, and not very flexible (just like me!). I find that any liquid eyeliner is made a breeze by using an angled liner anyway, so that problem was solved (sadly, it does not solve my little-teapot problem, but I assume it distracts).

The consistency of these liners is very liquidy at first and stays that way for a while, but it gets very dry over time; cracking might be an issue if you have dry lids. I have oily lids so I like that the liner doesn't get gummed up with the eyeshadow (which can happen with acrylic pencil liners). This liner does fade somewhat over time, and the line will not remain as sharp, but it's definitely pertinacious, especially when it comes time to removing it.

The colours are gorgeous - very rich and full of depth. Plum is almost mesmerising to look at once you swipe it because of all the layers to it. I find that the site shows the colours lighter than they really are (you can especially tell with black); if you have a flatscreen monitor like me, you can just tilt your screen back a bit and voila! Instant darkening effect.

I was quite pleased with the quality of these liners for the price (let's pretend that my HG liquid liner isn't Wet & Wild for a moment). The only drawback for me, besides the tip that I don't really use anyway, is the driness it gets, which is why it got a 4. I will definitely buy the other colours - all the colours are well-chosen for liners - especially since I'm installing a stash of makeup at my SO's place now (what did he get himself into)!

The brush on this liquid liner is so thin that its idiot proof. There is NO WAY you can't get a thin straight line with this brush.

HOWEVER, I also got this liner in Purple and I was disappointed that the purple had a felt tip rather than a brush, AND the purples color quality was rather poor.

Black is fantastic though!

Frankly, I'm shocked at how well this eye liner works. I have never used liquid liner before, and I bought it because it's cheap, and I figured if it's crap, no big loss. It's fairly easy to apply, and it stays put until I use makeup remover. My only concern is that I'm a little sketched out at the idea of having a $1 product next to my eye, but I'll just have to work that out for myself. Overall, I am puzzled by how pleased I am with this product.
