Skin type: combo/oily - dry spots on forehead/chin, oily cheeks and t-zone
Skin tone: Fair (MAC NW15/20, MUFE HD #115)

In my ongoing search for wedding makeup, I read somewhere that this one was great for that purpose. I've tried other LM foundation (oil-free) in the past and liked it, but didn't love it. This foundation is simply amazing. It covers really well, but doesn't look fake or heavy, and the staying power is spectacular - makes it through my workday only having to blot once. I purchased this in Soft Ivory, the lightest shade available, and while it seems a bit yellow intially, it blends in really well and matches my skin. I use it in combination with MUFE HD primer and LM translucent setting powder. I find that applying it with a damp sponge yields the most natural results, and application with a brush gives more coverage. Flawless results either way though. I am definitely using this for my wedding in June! Will definitely repurchase.

HG!!! Finally. Long-lasting, adjustable coverage, VERY natural when applied properly. Simply amazing. My natural winter colour is bamboo beige, a perfect match, beautiful colour with golden undertones (absolutely no pink, no orange), the colour is just natural and stunning! My method of application involves:

1) Application of Laura Mercier Hydrating primer
2) A touch of the silk creme foundation (little goes a long way)
3) Blending like crazy with good foundation brush (I use Lancome)
4) Spritzing Mac Fix+ for dewy glow

I swear my boyfriend cannot tell I'm wearing make-up when I do this (He hates the made-up look). My skin just looks naturally awesome. Best of all lasts all day!!!!!

Only gripe: I have a hard time selecting colours in the summer when I have a tan. Do not try Hazelnut beige unless you enjoy orangey undertones (Bleh!). I will try cashew this summer, I just hope it's not too light. Also my caps kind of fall apart - the outer cap detatches from the inner cap (in all of them, the primer too) kind of annoying. But the product is so good, I don't really care.

I tried this after LM's Oil Free Foundation, which I was not impressed with. This is good, full coverage foundation. However, with all of her foundations, I found it difficulty to apply. They all tend to dry right in the middle of application, making blending nearly impossible. Also, the foundation is so full-coverage, I looked like I was wearing a mask. The color I wore was the closest I found, but made me look pale. I actually had several people come up to me and ask if I was feeling alright while wearing it. Not the reaction I was hoping for. It also streaked and melted throughout the day. Much of the same issues I had with her Oil Free foundation. I decided to see what else was out there. I have found Dior Airflash. Although it is expensive, it is FABULOUS! Give it a try if you are having issues with these foundations like I had been.

I have been on the hunt for the perfect foundation forever. I love EL Double Wear, but every color I try turns orange on my fair skin. I bought this foundation along with several others and tried a new one each day. I love the color match for this and the full coverage it offers. It looks natural, yet it covers all my imperfections. I use a fluffy Kabuki brush to apply it and it really does give that airbrushed look. What I don't love is it doesn't last all day like the Double Wear. However I found a solution to this! I mix in a very small amount of the Double Wear with the Silk. I get the best of both worlds now! I don't think I found my HG, but I truly have tried everything out there. I have gotten many compliments about how great my skin looks when I wear this.

Within 10 minutes of putting on this foundation, my rosacea flared up and my face began to itch. Obviously an allergic reaction of some sort. I do have to say though, that the coverage and color was fairly good (although the color was a little more on the yellow/warm side than I'm used to-I'm cool-toned). Also, it felt very dry and tight on my skin, even w/ a moisrturizer. Too bad this didn't work out for me, as I have heard great things about Laura Mercier's line. Back to Sephora this foundation goes:(

I am a NC15 in the summer, N3 in the winter and Soft Ivory was a great match for me. It covers my redness from rosacea but doesn't settle into my huge pores which is amazing. I do have to be sure to moisturize before applying this or my skin will look flaky, but it's worth it to have a great foundation that doesn't irritate my skin. I was using Bobbi Brown's Tinted Moisturizer but something in it (perhaps fragrance) had been irritating my skin the past couple of months. I decided to go back to this and it works great. I find that applying with a damp sponge works best. I'm a Bobbi Brown Alabaster or Extra Light in their Tinted Moisturizer also.

This is a tough one. I love the way this looks in my bathroom mirror, like HG product good, but then I step outside and it looks terrible in natural light. I find that when I'm in natural light it does not even look like I have makeup on. It was like shock horror when I first discovered this in my car mirror. No matter what I do, I just can't get this one to look good outside.I probably won't even use the rest of it up- major bummer:(

Excellent, full coverage foundation. My go to for night time makeup. I think it's a still a bit heavy for everyday. Have to find some way to get thinner layers because I don't feel like putting a lot on everyday. It feels luxurious on the skin and is overall a great foundation. You don't need that much and it lasts a long time. However, I will continue looking for something that gives my skin a more wow! look.

Initially when I first bought this product, I was suffering from a sudden allergic reaction and acne that came along with it from using a too harsh toner (that had alcohol in it). So I needed more coverage than a sheer coverage from my old foundation. I first used a sample of this and really liked the coverage and shade. Bamboo Beige is the perfect shade for my Asian olive tone. Although the name says "creme," this foundation is actually and liquid foundation, and is not moisturizing enough. It settles in my dry spots. I don't need another concealer but it accentuates my dry spots after a few hours of wear; which is kinda weird because my skin gets oily by then. Anyways, the only reason why I wouldn't repurchase this product is because it rubs off so well, hence making the staying power '0'. Even if I just accidentally swipe my face, the foundation comes off.

*It is more important to keep your skin healthy by keeping it clean and well moistuzied and maintaining a good diet.

EDIT: this foundation mixed with any long lasting foundation (ie: Double Wear or Double Wear Light) does wonders do my face. I get both Silk Creme's glow and Double Wear's staying power. Perfect!

I have a sample of this in Rose Ivory and I cannot believe how well this covers, my skin looks flawless and I only need a tiny bit to do the job. I have uneven skin tone with acne scarring that I'm very self conscious about, but this covers all of the red/uneveness and smooths out the look of my skin.

Edit: While this does cover nicely, I do feel this can look way too heavy after a few hours of wear. It seems to settle into pores and look obvious. Maybe b/c I have oily skin but the makeup sits on top of my skin and doesn't look good after a few hours. I suggest getting a sample first b/f spending your money.

I am very, very fair-skinned and have an extremely difficult time finding pale foundations that aren't too pink. I was very happy with this foundation on that count... I bought this in Soft Ivory. I was happy that I finally found a foundation pale enough for me without the pink ring! It's heavy coverage, creamy in texture. At first, very happy. But after several weeks of using it, I was getting bad breakouts on my chin. I stuck with it thinking the breakouts could have been something else, but over a month into using this, the breakouts were not going away. I stopped using it about a week ago and my chin has already cleared up.

Unfortunately, I'll have to find something else. If it wasn't for the breakouts, I would have loved this thicker foundation for my dry, Casper pale skin. But I'm not willing to spend $40 for a pimply chin.

ive been using ths foundation for years...i will try something i think will be better...but then always come back to ol' faithful...in the beginnin i didnt think i liked it too much but then i realized a little pearl size is all that you need....and i thought it was way too thick and cakey and didnt blend well...the LM foundation primer completely corrected that problem and now my beige ivory is the smoothest foundation ever@@@

I love this foundation!
It goes on very easy and covers well. Since using it, people comment how nice my skin looks. It is pricey, but so are a lot of other foundations that don't look as good as this. Also, you don't need to use a lot, so this bottle has lasted me a few months!! I have freckles around my cheek area, and although it doesn't cover them completely it does lighten them significantly. For those reviews of people breaking out when using this product, I can say that I haven't had that problem (maybe they're putting too much on since this is a heavier foundation?). I only wish that this foundation had SPF in it. Will definitely purchase again and again!

TIP: I also love the Laura mercier tinted moisturizer. I use it on days when I don't feel like putting on as much makeup. Or I apply the tinted moisturizer first to my skin (since it has SPF 20) and then apply a little bit of the silk creme foundation, it gives my skin a beautiful glow.

I've been wearing this foundation for 2 years and I love everything about it. The coverage is excellent and you need very little to cover your entire face. It's expensive, but lasts forever. I have combination skin w/ mild acne scarring and this covers me up nicely without looking like I am wearing a pound of makeup. I like the squeeze tube packaging too. It's sanitary, unbreakable, and travels easily.

I have to admit, I am a fan. I used two small samples for months before I broke down and purchased in Sand Beige. It feels wonderful going on - like no other foundation I've ever used - and I cannot believe how small an amount you need. This small, albeit pricey, tube will last forever! I have sensitive skin and still break out occasionally but have had no problems. I put on with my fingers when I'm in a hurry (most days) and with a foundation brush when I have a little more time. The coverage is wonderful but I still like to dab a bit of concealer on my cheeks and around my nose. Personally, I feel if a foundation covers everything then it looks too maskey - I like to add extra only where needed. Loving Laura!

If you have acne prone skin and or sensitive skin, I do not recommend this product. It isnt oil free, it has comedogenic ingredients in it, and its cakey. Im very disappointed too because its very expensive, $45!

I sought this foundation out because I heard it had great coverage and came in very light shades. I have this in Soft Ivory which is a good match for my NW10ish skin. I have a lot of acne scarring so it is hard to find a foundation that will give me the coverage I need but this one comes pretty close. I wouldn't say it makes my skin look flawless but it is very pigmented and you only have to use a little at a time (and I usually have to use a lot of foundation for my skin.) I'm not sure if the formula is great for my dry skin though because it can tend to make me look a little flaky. I wish it was a bit more moisturizing. I can't really say it's HG because I am still on the lookout for the best foundation for me, but this is probably the closest I've come so far.

I've only been using this for a few days, but already I've started to break out a LOT!! The coverage is decent, I guess, but not good enough for someone like me who has cystic acne, conveniently made worse by this foundation.

As someone with oily skin, I was surprised how this made my face feel too dry and matte. Also, as some others have mentioned, this makeup does not spread/blend well. I'm going to try mixing it with my moisturizer to see if that helps.

I'm so glad that I got a sample first from Sephora before ponying up the $$$ for this - I made that mistake with the MUFE Mat Velvet +. Still searching for a HG but will report back again if I notice any drastic changes.

The first time I wore this, my sister (who is my main critic!) immediately commented on my skin. She was amazed at how smooth and luminous it looked! I have melasma, and this product covered the brown patches beautifully. It also smoothed out my pores. Just a pea size covers the entire face, so it doesn't feel heavy at all. I use a foundation brush and then lightly pat with my fingers to help it set into my skin. Then, I follow with a loose, translucent powder. It stays all day. Love it!
