Okay, I read the reviews on productville and overwhelmingly people did not like Mario Badescu drying lotion. But after trying other remedies (I don't have acne, per se, but I do get a hormonal pimples and a random one here and there) with no success I decided to try it anyway. I'm so glad I did! I have used it primarily on my t-zone so I haven't experienced dry skin (my skin is dry on my neck and cheeks). I use it around my nose and a line on my chin (whiteheads). While it hasn't eliminated them, it has made them smaller and less noticeable. But when I have used it on the lone red, glaring zit on my forehead or on my cheek, it is dry the next morning and is gone by the second day. I'm thrilled!
The packaging isn't the best (a regular sized Q-Tip isn't the easiest to use) but I'll get over because I really like the stuff.

Warning: the smell will make you vomit, and it doesn't work. I've tried this several times, it didn't dry up any of the various pimples I had. And no matter where you put it, the smell is there. It is so strong I actually gagged the first time I used it. I bought it because so many celebrities claim it works - since they usually have access to the best products, I thought it was worth a shot. Waste of money! The Drying Cream stinks too.

RIS and wanted to love it. As others have noted, works on erupted acne, not the cyctic, under-the-skin kind. Will continue to use it, as the smell goes away after a bit, and it does work on whiteheads. But think I will stick to other brands that work better and cost less

I really want to give a fair comment for this one. This does work on me.However, this only works on pore-clogged acne but not hormonal breakout. So, before you use this stuff, you must know your acne well to judge this product. This is not a magic potion- my acne won't dry completely after a night, but it does significantly reduce its redness. I am not too botherd my the smell though it really smelled like medicated acne treatment. Another thing which is good about this product is that it really clear bacteria under your skin. Acne won't appear again and again around the same spot. I have been using this for 2 months and my acne has reduced signifacantly.

I can't decide whether I like this product. I wish I could give it a 3.5. I agree entirely with the other posters -- it's totally a crapshoot with this stuff: it totally busts some of the pimples but does nothing (nothing good nor bad) for others, even though the two sorts of pimples are essentially the same type and size. When it works, it works incredibly -- the area is flattened, the skin is healed. When it doesn't, though, the area shrivels up and becomes scabby with dried skin, making other medications difficult to absort. I don't regret buying this, though I certainly don't understand the raving recommendations that Instyle and other magazines have given for this product. It is fairly expensive, though, considering the amount: CDN$30 for 1oz. (but most of which is liquid that just preserves the sediments which is really what you will be using). I know that I get more certain results from dabbing clay masks on the spots, so can't decide whether I will actually buy this again.

For me, this was a miss. I really wanted it to work, and now that I'm down to bottom of the bottle, I just have to admit that it didn't. I could have lived with the smell and alienation from my loved ones if it worked on my skin. Alas.

I found this product to be good for surface zits (the kind where the white pustules are just dying to come up and greet the world through your face). If you can see the white stuff then it'll work in drying it right up. However, it's not as effective for underground eruptions (the kind that wants to torture you for at least a week). So it really depends on the kind of zits you get...

I used to use D'Arcy drying lotion for years, but the price has inflated to about $30 USD for the 1 oz bottle. I bought this as an alternative, and while it is a good alternative for half the price, a better alternative is Bye Bye Blemish from the drugstore. It is under $10 and actually works better than this one.

The other girl had it dead on when she said you put it on at night and wake up to the same pimple you had the night before. I gave it away to a friend, and it did nothing for her either. :P

The only reason I didn't give this a one is because it didn't do anything BAD to my skin. I'd dab it on, let it dry, and in the morning, wash off the pink dots to find - exactly what I had the night before. Doesn't matter if it was a small surface blemish or a buried "treasure" - nothing was affected. Smells medicinal - not bad - but it didn't live up to the hype for me.

This is a great quick fix for drying out pimples. Its a bit wierd and you have to keep it upright, no tossing it back in the makeup drawer...My husband still makes a funny face when I come out of the bathroom with pink dots on my face, but I make them right back at him and we chuckle, dont worry about looking like a freak - it works! I just tried a similar product called BYE BYE BLEMISH and I find it works just the same and it is half the price.

I know that this is a *hit or miss* product but it works wonders for me. The only zits that it's going to try up are the ones that actually have "stuff" in them for it to dry up (eww) so don't bother trying it on the big red undergrounders. The price is a bit high but it lasts a really long time and mercilessly killed Herman (the name of the big nasty zit on on my jawline...it was so huge I named it...) in a matter of 8 hours. I tend to layer it on rather quickly and it does dry the skin around where the zit was but to me it's a small price to pay. I don't notice any kind of smell but honestly I haven't put it near my nose so what do I know. ;P Just don't shake it, and ask some SA's at a makeup counter for some loong Q-tips-they'll give them to you and they're not as messy as the short ones.

If you can get past the fact that it is a science project for pimples (it smells like chemicals, don't shake it, put the Q-tip in...), it works.

Not a good thing for overnight stays at the boyfriends or new paramour, LOL! My hubby always winces when I got the pink dots all over my face.
Very aggressive treatment on aggressive zits.

Since each of my zits has a distinct personality of its own, I'm never sure exactly when this lotion is going to work well. But when it does, it really does! It can speedily eliminate the little white pustules that are very superficial, and even prevent some of those big painful underground mothers that you can feel brewing way in advance. However, it can be hit or miss. I am still giving this product four lipsticks because there has been many a time when it's been a godsend. I noticed they have what looks to be an identical product at the "As Seen on TV" store for about $10. I may try that next after comparing ingredients.

Simply put - this stuff is the best. On emerging zits or ones that are about to break open, a little dab of this with a qtip overnight will suck the life right out of them. No joke. The trick is not to shake the bottle so that the contents can seperate out - dip the qtip straight in and dab on. It will leave pink spots on your face so if you have bedtime 'company' you may want to wait till you are alone. Works like a charm though - without overdrying. $17 for a small glass bottle that will last you a long time if you keep it tightly closed.

I've received so many samples of this and each time I get one I try it and expect it to work and it doesn't. It really doesn't do anything for my skin at all.

CONS: alcohol may sting; flakes of calamine fall off when dry; COMMENTS: contains two phases - a solid one containing mostly calamine lotion and sulfur, a liquid one containing salicylic acid and alcohol; does dry pimples quickly but this is a messy preparation; not recommended for day use because pink calamine tint probably won't match your skintone

I didn't like the drying mask and I don't like this. It doesn't do much, it just smells like alcohol. I am really bummed out about this line. Now I know not to listen to ladies that work at Henri Bendels!
