ive been using this product for a while now and ive noticed how it works for me...
unfortunately it isnt a good "everyday" moisturizer... ive noticed i have broken out from it..
but i will say its VERY good for special occasions when you really need to control the oils of the skin. i only use this for those long nights i know i will be out at a club, dancing and sweating alot...
but still.. even tho its a good "special occasion" product, its definately not a good every day product... :(

I didn't have quite the same experience as others did. I have extremely oily skin, so much so that I apply makeup at 7am, and by 10am my T-zone is so shiny you could possibly see your reflection in my nose.
I tried this out, and I was hoping that it would lessen the oilyness. Sadly though, it didn't. So I've managed to stock up on oil blotting paper.

If there were a 'maybe' selection for 'would you buy this product again' I would've selected that option. I'm on the fence here. I bought this product to use as my primary daytime moisturizer, and it's ok for that purpose (not great, fairly light) but as far as oil control I'm really not seeing much of that. My skin is very oily, and I usually have shine-through within 4 hours or so of cleansing/make-up application. This product delays but does not prevent the shine-through. It's a good choice for oily skin in the warmer months (since I live in New Orleans that is almost year round) but at this price point I would really like to see more oil control. I recently began using prep&prime over this; when I come to a decision about this combination I'll edit this review. For now, it's solidly in the middle. Since I have yet to find a product with better moisturizing capability and shine control, I'll probably purchase again. I'll say this for it - the product lasts and lasts! I could actually see having to toss this due to expiration before I run through the bottle - so that's in it's favor as well. Just completely on the fence about this stuff!

I found that for my oil skin this product did not keep my oil at bay. After a few hours I felt like my makeup was like running down my face. Not great for summertime use if you have oily skin, maybe good for the winter time, when I'm not producing as much oil.

After years of searching and going through tonnes of products I think I may have actually found the perfect product for my oily skin! I have been using this for about 3 weeks now after cleansing with MAC cremewash and I love it. It has a great smell and leaves a nice velvety texture on the skin. It feels more like a balm than a cream so it is nice and light on the skin. It keeps my oily skin controlled all day and provides a nice base for foundation. The only downside it the pricetag but I only use a tiny amount so I can see this lasting a while. I would seriously recommend this!

I have combo skin super oily t-zone & dry around my lips, chin, and corners of nose. My make-up usually gets oily and dirty looking after about 2-3 hours of wear
Before Applying
Cleansed then applied this....
After Applying
Applied MAC's Skin Primer, MAC's SFF, MAC's MSFN, MAC's Transparent Finishing Powder
It did feel good on my skin & I did notice a HUGE difference in the way my make-up looked and how it controlled my oil. I loved this for about the first week then it made me break out into these huge pimples that wouldn't surface and omg they hurt especially the ones around my hairline. So I tried it out for a month hoping to 1. get my money's worth 2. get my skin used to it. Didn't work for me at all I kept having breakouts. And I know it was from this because I'm still using all the products mentioned above without any reaction or problem. I wanted this to work so bad! On to the next one [jay z voice]

I still get very shiny after using this. The only thing I love about this product is the smell - I'm big on perfumey smells and this delivers. It's delicious. I usually mix it with an actual moisturizer because alone it doesn't work on any dry spots. I'm going to assume for someone with normal skin this would be a lovely product, but I have extremely oily skin and it really didn't do anything. Didn't seem to cause any added breakouts though, so that too is a pro.

This is my go-to lotion/primer during the summer heat and humidity - it keeps the shine and oiliness in check! I use it under Lancome Teint Idole Ultra foundation or Imanance tinted moisturizer and it works great. Even on especially humid days, the lotion helps to leave a nice dewy look, no more slick t-zone. However, it didn't mix well when under Neutrogena Healthy Defense Tinted Moisturizer (which I can't use anymore, my skin must be changing).
Since I only use it seasonally, the bottle lasts a long time, over three years now and I won't need a new one anytime soon. So the price is justifiable.

This lotion probably slows my oiliness by maybe 25 % which is more than any other oil control product has done for me. It also helps my powder foundation go on very nicely. I wish there was a "maybe" for the purchase again because I'm not sure if I would. I do like it but I'm not sure I like sooooo much that I want to pay $30 bucks again. I may try the prep and prime for face next time since it has spf and helps with oil and see which is better. This product smells so nice too, and it has made my skin very soft. I live in a very humid climate and I don't need anything heavy so this works nicely and it hasn't made me break out. I use olay sensitive skin hydrating cream at night to get the moisture my skin needs though. I can't believe the ratings for this are so low. I think a lot of people are harsh when it comes to MAC but here lately the MAC products I've bought have all been more satisfactory than those from sephora or ulta; and nearly every drugstore brand too.

Great product but helps my super oily face and doesn't make me break out.
Cons: Super expensive at $35 for 1.7 oz! I would not purchase again.
EDIT***
After a week my face is red, itchy, and pimply because of this product.

I began using this product about 3 months ago. I like that it controls oil and gives my skin a slightly matte finish without being too dry. I have dry skin, but get the oilies when I wear foundation. I apply 3 to 4 pumps. I like that the bottle comes with a pump so it is easy to get the product out, but I find that $29.50 is a little expensive for a daily moisturizer especially since the bottle is not that big. I think it is only 1.7 ounces. If I can't find another moisturizer, at a lower price that I like better I will repurchase.
Pros: It controls oil; comes with a pump; is lightweight; gives skin a smooth surface to apply foundation
Cons: Price

Not much to say here. I tried it once and got a reaction i've never experienced from a face lotion before. Intense itchiness! It lasted about ten minutes and went away. I have to say, the scent of this lotion is very strong, like a perfume. The product made my oily areas stay matte through my 8 hour shift, and also moisturized my dry areas, but it felt very heavy on my face like it was going to clog my pores (i have combo sensitive very acne prone skin). however, i will not be trying this product again to further test it, i gave it away due to the intense! itchiness.

This stuff doesn't work at all anymore. It did for a while and now my face is maybe just 10% less oily. I switched to the Bobbi brown oil control lotion and it's so much better!

This was recommended to me by a MAC MUA. I liked the feel of it when she applied it on my face using a mac brush. I have sensitive acne prone skin and my skin doesnt seem to react to this although I have only been using this for a few days. I am now using this under my Black UP makeup and my makeup stays matt all day. I am very impressed.

I LOVE this! I usually break out with ANY kind of moisturizer! I wear this OVER my estee lauder daywear plus multi protection anti oxidant lotion. I put my EL on and let it soak for about 5 minutes the I put this over it. My makeup seriously does NOT get oily at ALL! I have never found a product that really does mattify my skin. I dont even have to blot with this. I could see how it might break you out or enhance your oilyness. Thats because your skin is like a body trying to regulate temp. SOOO if you have oily skin and you dont moisturize your skin will be dry therefore OVER producing oils causing you to be oily. Even oily skins need moisturizers. So this is a mattefying lotion which means it will strip your skin from natural oil and your skin will of course try to " fix " itself and go on an oil production rampage. So i recommend moisturizing ( and yes your skin will probably feel really oily after doing that ) but once you add this, your skin will be moisturized AND oil free and it will stay that way. I recommend that anyone having problems with this lotion try this method first. I dont like that its 30 a bottled because it has NO spf and NO antioxidants or antiaging thingies. My EL lotion cost 38 and has all that yummy stuff my skin loves.

I have extremely oily skin, and this product was suggested for me by one of the MAC girls. Love this stuff and use it everyday. It is an essential in my make-up routine. I bought it sometime around Christmas and still have not run out, 7 months later (the bottle isn't even that big). I use about 2 squirts before I put my primer on.

I have oily skin, more so than normal I think. This product is one of the worst products I have tried so far. This did absolutley nothing for me, it actually made it worse! within 2 hours i was practically dripping oil. I was completley disgusted with it, never had i seen my skin look and feel so terrible. I do no recommend this product at all.

My go to used to be Mary Kay Oil Mattifier but this is even better than that! It's very similar to the Mary Kay Oil Mattifier but the Mary Kay didn't work with all foundations. With the MAC Oil Control Lotion I was able to go back to foundations that I thought had not worked for me and with the MAC they now work!!! I would not recommend this as a moisturizer, only a primer after moisturizing. I personally don't believe it is enough for a moisturizer and I am an oily person obviously since I purchased this.
