I went to Neimans today thanks to all the recommendations to try this in order to find a "beach" scent. Lo and behold I had an allergic reaction right there. It BURNED!!! I've read about this happening to others but seeing as how I have no allergies or very sensitive skin I was quite surprised. After the burning wore off I am still able to smell this many hours later and....it smells like something only my DH could pull off. I never detected any of the coconut I was hoping for. More like a sloppy cocktail whipped up by the kid in Home Alone right after he applied his dad's aftershave.

Ive tried a lot of Creed Fragrances but the ones I've liked have had a weird old lady-ish smell in the dry down, or are too tickly and have caused me a headache.

I didn't want to like VIW because its really expensive, but its like a warm soft breeze and something about it has me sniffing my wrists constantly. Ive worn it for the last 3 days in a row, and I think it wears well, I put some on this morning and I can still smell it 13 hours later. I wish there was a candle a body lotion and a shower gel, but I guess I should be grateful that there isn't because this stuff is spendy! That being said Ive already purchased a bottle and I anticipate wearing it a lot through the spring and summer..

Try layering VIW with Lavanila's Vanilla Coconut body butter to soften down any "manliness" you might get from this unisex scent. It's a divine and addictive combo... smells fresh (lime), exotic (coconut), soft and very slightly powdery and also a bit sweet (from the body butter). This combo is my new HG!

Virgin Island Water opens up with a zesty, sparkling lime note and then coconut, musk and rum start to appear and mingle, which create a sheer tropical fragrance. It is clear that very high quality ingredients were used to create this as it definitely has an “expensive” smell about it. Virgin Island Water would be perfect to wear pool-side at the Hotel Guanahani in St. Barts. It is casual yet quite chic.

Here are the notes, per Basenotes' website: Top: Bergamot, Lime, Mandarin, Coconut Toddy, Copra; Middle: Jasmine, Hibiscus, Ylang-ylang, Ginger; Base: Tonkin Musk, White Rum, Sugar Cane.

OMG!! I love this beautiful citrus, coconut, spice frag, it is the epitome of a tropical summer scent. Its not loud and lasts all day getting softer but still can pick out the notes, I got a sample of this and I was hooked. I will be puchasing for this summer. Unlike any citrus frag there is IMO and well worth the $$

I generally am very sensitive to fragrance. I get heachaches, I sneeze a lot so I was very hesitant about this especially since it had coconut in it (am I going to smell like a car freshener or what?!) This is absolutely the best fragrance I have ever worn. Its a little steep in price but I think it's worth it. I continue to believe it completes my wardrobe as cheesy as that might sound. It smells so clean and I believe it sticks to my skin very well and I get wiffs of it throughout the day. I'm very happy with my purchase :)

Really like this. It's perfect for work because it's very descrete. I do smell the coconut. The lime is only present the first 30 minutes. After a while it's a sweet musky scent, but still fresh. Perfect for spring. Only four lippies because it is not the most original perfume and it is not long lasting. Will repurchase.

I just bought it today and it is sooo lovely! I was looking for a perfect summer fragrance, I guess I've found it... the only thing I don't like is that I can't smell it after two hours. but howerver it's so delicious! lime and coconut, there is no other perfume that smells like this. you just have to close your eyes and imagine the smell of an perfect island. it would be like the Virgin Island Water...

Wanted to love this but was not a real summery scent which I hoped it would be as I'm picking up a heavy aspect to it and a "powdery" feel to it. I loved it when I first put it on and it did have that summery bright lime zest to it but it dries down quickly and loses that lightless. After about an hour it starts to come back with a less heavy aspect to it which makes it much nicer. If you can get past the first hour it's kinda nice as now I'm smelling something that's almost reminding me of Fresh Sugar Blossom (which I love) but this has a less in you face aspect to it and more subtle.

Upon the first sniff of VIW, I was instantly transported to the lulling waves of the Caribbean - the lime sings out first, green, zesty and fresh. I'm a huge fan of citrus scents, so the lime top note grabbed me and I instantaneously fell in love. I thought it couldn't get any better, but it did - the coconut starts to whisper underneath, its creamy sweetness providing an interesting contrast to the fresh lime. I was ready to immediately hand my card to the lady at BG, but a good thing I decided to walk around.... For the first hour, the fragrance was pure heaven. I just got back from a Caribbean vacation and it truly did bring me back. However, after the lime wore away, the musky cloying sweetness came in with a certain medicinal quality behind it - instant headache. If only the first hour would last.....

I sniffed this at the sote and though "meh." Then I got 1oz as part of a split and I love it. It is a true unisex scent. My sister uses it everytime she comes over! Because it is so $$$, I would only buy it in a split. I'm not forking over $100 per oz. I get limes, coconut, and a clean smell.

In general, I dislike coconut based scents. However, I LOVE this fragrance! It smells sort of boozey (sp?), like a pinana colada, and is lovely for summertime. I like it so much that I just purchased the enormous four ounce flacon, and when I run out of that, I'll buy another. It just smells unique!

This is a lovely scent if you are into lime, rum and coconut. Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not :) The most striking thing to me, and the reason I am writing this review, is the staying power. While not an overpowering scent, it is amazingly long-lasting. I put it on before bed one night and could still smell it when I went to bed the next night. That never happens to me! The problem is that I rarely want to wear any one scent this long! So I may use up my decant but I will not purchase a bottle as this seems suited for very specific occasions only.

I have been craving coconut scents recently, and when I read that Creed was coming out with one I was SO excited. I managed to win some from ebay and was overjoyed...
now I am a bit perplexed, because, after a wonderful lime opening, I found it to be very coconutty and sweet, sort of of straying in Bounty (the candy bar) territory. After one hour, I can only perceive a coconut note, and it's similar to what my Body Shop coconut body butter leaves on my skin. I gave it 3 lippies because I love coconut, but it is really not that unique or worth the huge price IMO. I do encourage everybody who is considering buying it to check out BBW lime coconut and verbena first, because I cannot pick any other note in VIW apart from lime and coconut.
EDIT: I do smell some rum in VIW, and I don't enjoy smelling like an alcoholic drink.
If you are after a lovely tropical coconut scent, I also suggest EL Azuree soleil as an alternative.

I'm in love with Creed Virgin Island Water! Not only is the scent complex and refreshing, but when wearing it, I feel like I've been transported to the Virgin Islands. The coconut, lime, orange, and rum mix beautifully to create a scent that not only captures the feeling of a beautiful place but puts me in a better mood. It's been a big hit the past month I've been wearing it. I recommend it to anyone who likes the idea of a fresh, citrus fragrance. Even if you don't, try it. You might be suprised.

I am editing this entire review. After several weeks of wear this perfume has become somewhat sickenly sweet. As though it needs to be a winter perfume. I dislike it more and more each time I wear it...it also has an odd staying power, the lovely scent fades while a sweet cloying smell stays...just too much for me.

on the initial spray it's very much lime, i get more citrus than coconut at first. then i get a nice balance of lime and coconut with a bit of rum thrown in. then on the drydown i get a very masculine scent very musky I can see how it's unisex because of the manlyness of the scent ends. I bought a large bottle when I initially only wanted a 1oz because it's so expensive. I am glad i got the large bottle I can see myself wearing this quite a bit. It's a nice change from the sweet scents i have been wearing lately. If i ever run out i can see myself buying more but only if i get a good deal on it. this isn't a HAVE TO HAVE scent for me but it's something i am glad i have in my fragrance wardrobe.

from the website:

• Top Notes: Essence of copra (the white inner portion of the coconut); coconut today (a liquid derived from the sweet sap of the palm tree); lime of the Antilles; white bergamot, and mandarin orange from Sicily.
• Middle Notes: Hibiscus, ginger, ylang-ylang, and Indian jasmine.
• Bottom Notes: Sugar cane and white rum of the Antilles, musk from Tonkin.

Virgin Island Water is the fragrance I hoped Bond No. 9's Fire Island would be. This truly is a classic summer scent and is, for me, the most successful Creed fragrance. Yes, this reminds me of the ocean; not in a Coppertone and sea salt spray kind of way, but (true to its name), a turquoise blue Caribbean sea way. On me, the top notes that are most apparent are the lime and bergamot, followed quickly by the rum (I know it's supposed to be a basenote in this fragrance, but I smelled it within a minute of application). The coconut comes in next, but for me it is smooth and creamy, not cheap and oily like Banana Boat suntan oil. The florals soon emerge, but instead of going extreme, the ylang ylang and jasmine are soft and subdued, never exceeding the predominant coconut, lime and rum. To round everything out in a smooth, deep, and rich way, a most fabulous musk emerges in the basenote. It's definitely a unisex fragrance; I don't find it overly masculine or feminine. It is definitely a "mood" fragrance that would be absolutely fun and appropriate for a cruise or beach resort, but probably not the office and definitely not a formal occasion. The price of this fragrance is truly outrageous, and I don't know how I could ever justify spending that kind of cash on a fragrance that I like, but don't truly love.

I wanted to love this- I just got back from the Virgin Islands and wanted something that captured the essence of those islands. Unfortunately, this fragrance is a total miss. I went to go smell this at Neiman's and found it to be strangely familiar. The other reviewers are right, it is an exact dupe of B&BW Coconut Lime Verbena at like 8x the price!
