This is wonderful cream for dry, sensitive skin. I use it on my face and as eye cream. It has never been irritating, and is very moisturizing.

I had never heard of this product before yesterday evening. My 8 year old daughter suffers from eczema on her hands. With this new H1N1 flu scare her school is really pushing the washing of hands using their antibacterial soap. She gets flare ups from most soaps and any chemical that touches her. She does have a prescription cream that takes days of treatment to reduce the redness and swelling.

Last night her hands started to bleed from her rash so I went to Superstore and asked the pharmacist for a recommendation. She was adamant that I should try Impruv. I bought the 150ml tube for $24.99. Pricey for hand cream, but I was willing to try anything. Starting last night I put very small amounts of the cream on everytime she washed her hands and the rash is almost completely gone today! Nothing we've tried has ever worked this fast. I'm completely impressed and am calling Superstore to thank the pharmacist.

IMPRŪV cream is produced by Stiefel (stiefel.ca), and comes in two sizes: 75 ml and 150 ml. The 75 ml tube regularly sells for $16.99 CAD at Shoppers Drug Mart, and the bigger tube is $31.99. However, not all SDMs carry the big tube.

I bought the 75 ml tube on sale for $14.99. I'm not sure how often it goes on sale, but when it is the sale lasts for several weeks (maybe up to one month?).

The front packaging labels the cream as an "Advanced moisturizing formulation for dry, sensitive skin". It also indicates it is "non-irritating, hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic."

I took a gamble on IMPRŪV. First, I hadn't looked it up on MUA. Second, I bought it at full price. Later I was so happy to see the 100% repurchase figure and the satisfied reviewers. I'm now one of them!

I'm impressed with this cream. My skin definitely looks and feels moisturized without being greasy. It does not feel sticky unlike what happened with Clinique's Moisture On-line. The texture of the cream is light. It glides smoothly on the skin and sinks in almost immediately.

IMPRŪV does not irritate my sensitive skin, so it also doubles as an eye cream. (Maybe it could help prevent wrinkles? Who knows.) However, it does not prevent my rosacea skin from becoming irritated by the environment. But that's ok by me since IMPRŪV is only for soothing and preventing dry skin. It wasn't made to prevent inflammation.

In short, IMPRŪV cream did not lie! It is an amazing cream that is well worth $20.

As for the tube itself, it essentially looks like the design on the box. It's very clean and straightforward and even the ingredients are listed. Because the tube is not dressed up to be feminine or masculine-looking, both sexes (okay, men specifically) should not feel disconcerted when using it. Although it still feels strange for me to use a face cream that comes out of a tube. To me tube means hand cream. I'm used to using moisturizers in jars.

I haven't seen it at Wal-mart, but it's probably available at other drugstores like Pharmaplus. If you're looking for it at SDM, look at the BOTTOM SHELF where Stiefel's other brands of skincare products (mainly PREVEX and UREMOL) are located. It's unfortunate for IMPRŪV to be placed there where it's easily overlooked, but I'm sure it outperforms many of the moisturizers placed up higher like Dove, Garnier, and L'oreal.

IMPRŪV is supposed to be available in Europe and Asia, but I'm not sure about the US. If you visit stiefel.com, the international site, it gets complicated. I typed in "IMPRŪV" and "Impruv" on the search field, and all I got is this message: "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try again later."

If you want to purchase it online, I think well.ca is a good site (though I've never bought from them). They ship to Canadian and American residents, AND the prices of the big and small tubes are a little bit cheaper than SDM. And shipping is free for Canadians. No minimum order amount too.

More info on IMPRŪV can be found at stiefel.ca and impruv.ca.
I don't have any personal connections to Stiefel. I just think I've found the most excellent face cream ever. They've lived up to their claims, and I think everyone should buy it! I don't want it to be discontinued. Not ever, and please don't change the formula.

One more thing: I've never used a face cream that's made in Ireland. Canada yes. USA yes. France yes. Ireland yes now.

This is the replacement for my fave moisturizer Avene Hydrance Optimale Riche (which contains polyacrylamide, may be carcinogenic). I'm DSPT and on Taz 0.05% gel, this is a very basic moisturizer which has ceramide 3, does not stung my skin nor does it clog my pores despite its emollient ingredients - cocos nucifera and shea butter. It sinks into skin and leave my skin well hydrated and soft. Added bonus: it is fragrance/paraben free. It cost about EUR13 for 150ml.

This is great cream. Very moisturizing and was gentle to my skin after having a terrible reaction to some Marcelle cream. It was recommended by my Dr. I can buy it at Lawton's Drugs.

As the colder weather hit, my face suddenly became scaly and so dry it actually hurt. I took out all the little sample pacakages that I have collected over the past couple of years and tried a new one each day because what I had been using wasn't cutting it. The last one, called Impruv, felt like heaven from the moment I out it on. It was instant relief and my skin looked great. This prodcut has no scent and no preservatives and is often recommended to people who suffer from skin conditions like eczema and rosacea. I believe this is only available from a Canadian website called well.ca.

There is squalene in this product so I tend to get rosey cheeks when using it (i have rosacea) BUT my skin does not itch or burn from it.
It has been the only thing that has kept moisture in and on my skin. A little goes along way. It applies wonderfully on the skin- no dragging. Love the consistency. It's hard to find. That is the only drawback- and the slight reaction to the ingredient of squalene. Otherwise- this stuff really works. I highly recommend.
My skin: rosacea, dry, aging, uber-sensitive.

So far, so good (using a sample). I have dry, sensitive skin right now, and use this on the entire face, incl. under the eye. It's a no-frills cream, so if you want fragrance, antioxidants, etc. this isn't it (probably better to get antioxidants from your food anyway!) Will update if anything changes...

Ingredients: Purified Water, Caprilic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Cocos Nucifera, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Butrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), hydroxyethylcellulose, Squalene, Sodium Caromer, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Ceramide 3.

Made by Stiefel, this is a derma membrame structure cream intended for dry, sensitive skin. It is very soothing, moisturizing, non pore-clogging. It is a very bland, boring skin cream perfect for those who want to eliminate irritating ingredients from their skin care. My skin doesn't tolerate soap, silicones, AHA's, BHA's, retinoids, or sunscreens. I wish I'd known this years ago! I've streamlined my skin care routine to Avene cold cream gel cleanser, occasionally Avene thermal water and Impruv cream or Avene Cicalfate cream, and my skin is very happy. Update: March 2010. I'm still almost exclusively using this moisturizer and regularly get compliments on my skin.

UPDATE 03/26/08: This is still my fave go-to moisturizer. I've upped my 4 rating to a 5. I think having used it for 2 years every night and day, it deserves the upgrade lol. The big tube (about $37 with taxes) lasted me over a year. I finished it the following month after the expiry date printed on the tube. No off smell or anything, only the consistency seemed a smidge thicker. My only gripe is that this cream does not go on sale nearly enough! I've only seen it on sale once and the prices have gone up a dollar or so, depending on where you go. But this moisturizer is juuust enough. I never feel I need to moisturize more throughout the day and no oilies or shine mid day either. I can continue to use it without problems even though I've much less dry skin, I just use even less and it's still great! ♥.
UPDATE 05/23/07: I'm loving this moisturizer. My skin doesn't feel dryish anymore after rinsing, even with just water. It really feels and appears much more normal now; supple, smooth and soft. I also hardly get breakouts anymore (I'm the type to breakout when my skin is too oily or dry one way or the other). In warmer weather, I can use this stuff very sparingly and it still works and will just disappear into skin. The difference is especially noticable if I wear s/s or mu, though rarer, but I think this is because my choice of s/s and mu is a touch drying for me (not right away but over time), but a bit of this moisturizer makes it just perfect throughout the entire day.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I really like this moisturizer, it soothes my dry, sensitive skin and I can use it even when/if it gets irritated. In fact, it's the only thing I can use if it's irritated. It doesn't sting on contact or further irritate my skin. I've been using it since last year and it has really helped to restore moisture to my skin and make it feel really comfortable if I ever use mu or anything that makes my skin feel more parched than I like. It's fragrance, dye and preservative free. Also free of silicones. The price is kind of steep imo for a veeery basic moisturizer (about $17 for 75mL, then add tax); there's nothing fancy in it at all, but I will continue to purchase it for as long as it works for me. I believe this is the equivalent of Physiogel cream (same ingreds, but Physiogel has other creams too that I don't see with Impruv). This can be shiny if you use a lot when it's really hot & humid, and I can also see it being shiny for really oily skintypes. It does eventually absorb though. I've used it on oilier areas w/o problems but best for dry..ish areas. It does contain cocoa and shea butter and squalane so those who don't do well with those things, beware.
