Wow, Pink-o de Gallo lasted on my nails about five days. That could be a record for someone who wears 2-3 colors PER WEEK on nails. Must be good!
THE COLOR
Initially, what attracted me to this product was the packaging, in a Mexico Chiquitas collection. You get a mini Pink-o de Gallo, a mini My Chihuahua Bites and a mini Strawberry Margarita. The selection seemed varied and fun enough to try out for the first day of the new collection's release, so why not? And secondarily, I thought as I was looking at the color, OPI doesn't really have a similar color out yet, so into the basket it went.
The color is an opaque pink after 2-3 coats. My nails are particularly thin and clear so I did 4 coats. It's not a medium pink, it's light. But it has enough pigment in it so you're not thinking it's on the fringe of an ivory. It's about the same intensity/deepness as a Mary Kay cadillac but for a pastel pink, it's not an easter egg / Barbie pink. The box says it has a hint of spice that's nice. I'm not sure what that means. But it is definitely not lavenderish, either. I think it's a pastel muted pink. Not sure if this is sensical.
THE APPLICATION
As stated earlier, it should be opaque after 2-3 coats. It was not streaky at all. I glopped it on as usual with a coat of Poshe after 2 coats. Then I decided it needed 2 more coats the next day, and after that I glopped more Poshe on top. It was amazingly beautiful, no streaks.
THE WEAR
Amazingly, the wear with Poshe is just about perfect. After 4 days, nothing but a tiny bit of wear only on the very very tip of the tip down the nail less than 1 mm. Fine wear, no problems at all... except day 5 when my nail itself chipped on the thumb where the nail was much longer than it's been in forever. Then my other nail where it was growing longer actually bent (I have pretty soft/flexible nails) and where it flexed, the polish did crackle a bit. Like a shoe when you break it in, my nail and the polish crackled. I cannot believe it lasted pretty good for 5 days on longish natural nails. I finally removed it an hour or so ago.
I would buy this again~ but I need a break from it and I have too many other colors waiting in the queue. But it's pretty and it went with my brown colors this week but was too pale for my deeper shades of green and red. I am hoping to review Venus di Violet next!!!
I did take a few pictures if you need them page me and I'll send you the link or post it!
