This felt like the cream part of the cleanser was too thick and it felt like it left a thick residue on my face. I totally skipped out on moisturizer because of it. My face did not at all feel dry after using it, but instead it felt oily. I didn't feel clean and I started to break out after a couple of days of using it. I wondered if it was just bad timing and the break out was from hormones instead of the cream cleanser? Well I stopped using it and returned to it once my visitor left and I am still breaking out. Maybe this is not for me?

I can definitely recommend it to someone who has extremely dry skin that does not occasionally have sensitive skin like mine.

I never use this alone to cleanse my face at night. I use it to take off my makeup (except the eye makeup since I use eye makeup remover for that) and then I'd wash my face with gentle cleanser (like Cetaphil) to get rid of the residue this cream cleanser leaves. It's basically a very nice-scented, gentle cream cleanser which works okay. I have oily skin but it doesn't break me out. If you wear heavy makeup in a daily basis then you might need something more powerful than this. I personally wouldn't purchase it again because it runs out very quickly and it's not very cheap either for a mediocre cleanser.

Bought this because I needed a cheaper (but not CHEAP) alternative to my usual face routine. It does quite well, but it's no where near as good as my previous brand (Elemis). It doesn't make me break out, and the scent is light. My face is such a haphazard zone as it's really dry but can quickly become too oily. This product does not aggravate that balance. But it could actually CLEANSE a bit better...

I re-purchased this cleanser after first trying it out in 2001. Back then, my skin didn't break out as easily, but now, this cleanser doesn't feel like it cleans anything. It's cream-based, and leaves a residue on my skin. It also makes me break out. I have combination skin, so it's probably too oily for me - and doesn't take off my make-up.

As for the smell, I actually really like it. It's a bit like a rosey-powdery scent. I think I bought it again because the first time, I had taken it to my Europe backpacking trip, and the smell brings me back to fond memories!

I think cream cleaners are a must-have for anyone with dry skin, and this one is very good - using it once a day has improved the moisture-levels in my combination dry skin. I dab this on a tissue or cotton wool and wipe down my face before I shower in the moring and it usually takes off quite a bit gunk that my stronger evening cleansers have missed. My make-up not only applies better but seems to look nicer for longer, too.

The price is right but a good three or four days worth of product gets stuck in the bottle.
*Edit - I now use Origins Clean Energy rather than this, since it doubles as a MU remover and has lead to even more dramatic improvements in my skin tone.

OK product. I don't like the fact that it leaves a oily feeling after washing. It feels like a oil covering on your face when it is suppose to get ride of makeup and oil. Now I switched it to days when I don't have makeup on or when I need a gentler cleanser. I hate the bottle, I have to flip it up side down or it will take forever for the stuff to come out. Will never buy again.

edit --> i have sensitive skin and this is not working for me. It hurts when i wash my skin with this! maybe it is just me :(

What: The Body Shop Vitamin E Cream Cleanser
Where: The Body Shop
Trial Period: About 2 months
Price: £6.50
Why: I've been fed up of trying harsh cleansers on my skin and this claimed to be natural and good for skin
Did it work: Yes it cleansed but it didn't help my skin out in any great way
Smell: I actually don't really like the smell. I think it's because I expected a nautral smell but it contains parfum
Look: Basic bottle with a flip lid. Pale pink colour.
Good points: It cleansed. It did clean most of my face make-up off if used with a muslin cloth. Soft, fresh feeling after use. Did help my break outs a bit.
Bad points: It can't handle waterproof or more than one coat of eye make-up. Also as I said before, I don't like the smell. It also didn't clear up my skin as well as I'd hoped.
Extra comments: It's called a cream cleanser but it's actually a lotion.
Overall rating: 3
Packaging Quality: 2
Price: 2
Would I buy again: No but I may come back to it if my skin gets in a bad way again
Would work for: Pretty much everyone I'd say. Doesn't irritate eyes and is "spot friendly." If you're expecting miracles though, I don't think you'll get them

This leaves my skin super soft and smells lovely. I don't think it's meant to be a m/u remover, so I use something else for that. I rotate a lot of different facial cleansers, and seriously my skin needs this after a bit. When I use it at night, I wake up and my skin looks sooo much smoother and softer than it usually does. It makes me wonder if I need to use it MORE. The only reason I don't is because I tend to break out, usually hormonally, but I get clogged pores etc so I'm not sure how my skin would react to using this type of cleanser all the time. When I do use this, my skin really looks improved. I think harsher stuff strips and irritates too much after a while, so I use this when I need a break from my regular acne-fighting regime. It reminds me of Johnson & Johnson's baby lotion, but of course not as thick. It does not remove makeup in its entirety, so it shouldn't be used for that. Love it though, will definitely stay part of my collection.

I've been a faithful buyer of DHC's Cleansing Oil for about four years, but as my skin ages and I rely more on retinols, it seems to really dry my skin out now. This winter has been particularly difficult, and try as I could to find a gentle, moisturizing makeup-removing cleanser that was affordable and didn't cause breakouts, it was tough. I came across this one while sampling a friend's for a few nights and was blown away! My skin didn't feel tight after cleansing, and while I ran a cotton ball soaked with DHC Acerola Lotion over my face afterwards, I loved the soft, protected, comfortable feeling my skin had. I bought a bottle here in the UK and it has been perfect so far. The price is decent, though I'm still on the lookout for a drugstore substitute. My skin was really acting up for weeks and until I found this, I was stumped. This product is great for anyone who hates that stripped feeling after cleansing, anyone who gets flaky skin in winter and especially for ladies over 30 who have retinized skin (me).

I looove this cleanser. It is so gentle and light on the skin is a real pleasure to use. The texture is soo smooth, non-oily and it just melts into the skin! It leaves my face refreshed, clean and very soft. Its one of the best makeup removers I have ever used. I love the after-feeling so much I don't even want to use a toner. Love it!

The bottle is big enough, the price is good (even cheaper than some drugstore brands which are worse in quality). I got this with a BS card and got 20% off. Will buy again.

I really like this. It is gentle enough that I can rub it all over my face, over my eyes, and it does not sting. It will remove mineral MU and non wp makeup - not liquid foundation imo. i use a more exfoliating soapish cleanser to remove liquid foundation.
i want to restock on this but it is $30 in Aus - I will wait until I run out of my current back ups and then decide!
but i would buy this again, if i had nothing else on hand!
v nice for sensitive skin. i love cleansing milks!

This is the best! I received this product as a part of a body shop mini package and this product is the only one that I brought the full-size of...I feel kind of weird sometimes not using water, so I often rinse with warm water to remove the product...and I LOVE the scent!

I love this. I bought it several days ago. My skin was getting really dry, especially on my cheeks and no amount of moisturizer that usualy works great for me woud bring back moisture to them. Than I realized it's not the moisturizer, it's washing my face every morning and night, and sometimes in the afternoon that's wrong. So I got this cleanser and some Dove cotton pads and voila, my skin is baby soft and beautiful. I double-cleanse my face in the evening, just to make sure all traces of makeup are gone and don't rinse with water afterwords. Just follow with my moisturizer. Heaven!

This is great!!! My skin feels SO soft after using this - and my face stays nice and hydrated - usually my face feels extremely dry after cleansing, but this is really really great stuff. If i feel my face needs a bit more of a cleanse, I'll use Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub (my HG ) as it keeps breakouts away, but when my skin is feeling happy, I'll use this as it is nice and gentle.
Just wish it was a tiny bit cheaper though, but I'll prob keep going with. My skin gets really dry in the winter, so hopefully this will keep it moisturised.

My favorite make up remover !
Its creamy texture is perfect because it catch all the make up (mineral powders, lipgloss and even eyes make up including mascara)
The fragrance is very sweet and reconfortant.
The product is very gentle even for the eyes (I can't stand using several cleansers).
Highly recommended !

Excellent cleanser that really lifts off dirt and makeup, even mascara and eyeliner. Very gentle - doesnt dry out or irritate my skin. Nice creamy consistency. I previously only ever purchased foaming cleansers until I tried this, now they all seem to strip my skin in comparison. Great product. Highly recommend.
