I went to the various department stores in my area with the hope of buying one for the new Butter Shines - everyplace I went to was SOLD OUT. Not nice, Clinique.

I ordered 3 tubes from the Clinique web site, including Crushed Grape. Lovely fall shade, esp for paler complexions. (I'm so pinky-white, I'm nearly blue.)

Texture is simply luxurious. No perfume. I had some bleeding, which was solved with lip pencil.

Not an endurance product - it wears off fast, but as long as you're using pencil, you get a lovely stain, not a "worn out" look. Fans of Clinique's Different Lipstick formula will not be disappointed.

I agree with a lot of what's already been said. This lipstick feels great on, is moisturizing (or at least not drying), the tube is great (so cool looking & I love when they click!), the color is nice (I thought this might be too purple but it's actually very soft & natural-looking on me). It lasts really well considering how soft & moist it is. Stores are selling out of this stuff & I can see why!

DESCRIPTION OF ME Asian with a warm complexion (C3-C4 in MAC) with strong yellow undertones and some peach. Black hair. Oily skin that is prone to breakouts.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Tube lipstick in 427 Crushed Grape. 0.14 ounces/4 grams. $14 US. Available at Clinique counters and www.clinique.com.

PACKAGING Buttershines come in a silvertone tube that is has a bamboo stem shape. Simple, elegant and nothing problematic.

TEXTURE This is most definitely the highlight of this product. Buttershines are very light, smooth and moist. They have a lipbalm-like feel but are creamy enough to have the staying power of a lipstick. As moist as this product is, it does not just sit on top of my lips. Other so-called ultra-moisturizing lipsticks I've tried do just that and leave my lips feeling dry.

I am extremely skeptical about medium- to high-end lipsticks, thinking that they offer nothing truly magnificent enough to justify their pricetags. Generally, that adage still holds true for me but Buttershines are different. I immediately noticed the difference between this product and everything else I've tried. When I first swiped it on my hand at the counter, I was like WOW. No wonder people have been buzzing about this.

COLOR Crushed Grape is a dark purple wine with very fine golden shimmer. On my lips, it turns into a vibrant medium mauve that can be further sheered down to a pink. It is neither too cool or too warm, and it is not neutral to the point where it looks boring. I was hoping for an everyday color and I got it!

Also, I was worried that since this lipstick is so moist that the pigment will get "pushed" to the edges of my lips as time goes on. Nope! It doesn't do that. I was pleasantly surprised.

FINISH Another unique quality of this lipstick! It feels like a lipstick but when freshly applied, it looks like a gloss. As time goes on, it has a more creamy, satiny finish. Eventually, it turns into a nice stain that is non-drying. I love that!

SCENT/FLAVOR Absolutely no taste or flavor.

LASTING POWER For something so moist, it wears very well. It lasts a couple of hours before I have to reapply again. Keep in mind that most lipsticks don't even last an hour on me.

OVERALL FANTASTIC lipstick and color... and this is coming out of a person who balked at spending more than $5 US for a drugstore lipstick. I can truly say that the hype is justified. Definitely worth a repurchase.

UPDATE I am becoming less enamored with my Buttershine. First of all, the rounded end of the lipstick makes it hard to apply it around the peaks of my upper lips. Also, it is not as moisturizing as I thought it was. It is still an excellent lipstick but I don't think I will buy another one anymore. I've moved on to Maybelline Moisture Extreme lipsticks, which I will post a review of soon.

Very pretty color. Perfect Plum was too pink for me. This one resembles Club Monaco's Glaze but more creamy and shiny. I find that upon first application the texture and shimmer is moist. After about an hour or two, my dry lips have sucked up all the moisture and the color becomes a stain, which is fine with me since I don't re-apply lipstick too often. Clinique reps recommend using a lipliner to increase staying power. I plan to buy Rum Kiss too.

this lipstick is a beautiful berry kissed purple color. The buttershine formula is extra smooth and moisturziing, but with surprisingly good staying power. Around 14$, beautiful silver case shaped like bamboo that snaps shut. Previously, i only wore gloss but this lipstick is incredible, definitly will buy again!

Beautiful Grape/Berry color. I love this formula- soft, moisturizing and no fragrance or taste. Just a lovely lipstick. I will go back and look for more colors.
