My sister uses this and loves it and gave me some for Christmas. I love the way it smells and makes my skin feel soft but unfortunately it breaks me out. I gave it too lippies for the scent.

Just started using this lotion. Its hydrating without being greasy and I LOVE the way it smells! It is a little pricey but if it works and doesn't cause any break outs ill pay for it! Im really hoping this works for me, too soon to tell at this time. Oh and i also love the fact that aveda has their skin products in travel sizes!

Well, I happened to get mine for free (long story). Anyway, I didn't even go to the salon looking for a moisturizer but I ended up with it has compensation and let me say - I am impressed! I have ultra-sensitive, acne prone skin and this stuff does not break me out! It has light and has a pleasant scent. It's not greasy, keeps my skin hydrated all day long and the bottle is huge. I'm sure I won't have to purchase moisturizer for months down the line. I am very pleased with the results that I am getting from this hydrating lotion. I've found what I've been looking for! Definitely my HG moisturizer!!

This is the first moisturizer I have found that has worked exactly the way I've wanted it to. This is a VERY light weight moisturizer that is great for my combination skin. In the winter, my skin gets VERY dry, and this moisturizer is prefect for my skin, especially under Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch cream - my foundation goes on flawlessly over both of these in combination. During the summer, my face tends to get oily in the T-zone and cheeks, and this lotion evens out my skin and doesn't add to the oiliness at all.
It is a little pricey, being an Aveda product and all, but I find it worth it, especially since it lasts me for nearly 9 months to a year! The packaging is very nice, however, when you go on trips or are moving, be sure to bubble wrap this sucker, as I've broken the glass bottles a few times! Might want to think about transferring the product into a cheap, drug store plastic bottle!

Pros: Nice packaging
Cons: Felt too heavy, expensive
My skin is oily, but dry and flaky in the winter. It's also acne-prone and sensitive. I thought I'd try out Aveda since they have a pretty good reputation. This moisturizer felt too heavy when used in the winter, like my skin was suffocating. Good thing Aveda has a lax return policy, because I am bringing this back.

I actually like the lotion. It's quite light and good for my dry skin. But as I said in my other Aveda Revues...its way overpriced.
I'm now using a lotion from L'Oreal which is cheaper and has the same effekt.

It's been a while since I last used this product, but I remember LOVING it. (I love new products and I go around testing almost everything, so don't see this as a negative sign). The smell is AMAZING... its this beautiful light botanical aroma, and its not greasy at all - gives just the right amount of moisture. The only bad thing about this product is that its in a glass bottle (which actually is better for your product because then the container won't react with the contents inside), but it is hard to travel with. It's also a pump bottle, so that's troublesome for traveling as well. Nonetheless, I'm a huge fan of this moisturizer and my mom loved it so much, she bought a dozen and brought it back to Hong Kong and gave it away as gifts to our family. Definitely highly recommended!

This moisturizer is on its way to being the last i ever try - it's amazing! It provides the perfect amount of moisture for my normal to oily skin; my face never feels neither dry nor greasy. A little goes a LONG way, so one bottle lasts for months (i bought my first bottle in December and didn't need to replace it until the end of April). My skin has never looked better, and i have more peace of mind buying a product from such an eco-friendly company.

I really wanted to love this, but alas, i was dissapointed. it made my oily/acne prone skin worse. It just sits on top of my skin and does not sink it. my skin feels goooey and sticky. It is a great mosturizer though definitley gets rid of dryness. I think I will keep it and use it as a body/hand mosturizer.

This is a wonderful moisturizer. The most important thing to remember about this product is that you only need a very small amount (the size of your pinky fingernail). This moisturizer is packaged in a glass bottle with a pump to help prevent bacterial contamination, which is wonderful. As with all Aveda products, the packaging is made from recycled materials, which is nice. The scent of this moisturizer is amazing yet light and airy. This product has worked very well on my oily skin - a light application in the morning and at night does not make my skin oily at all.
***Edited: I had to discontinue using this moisturizer after 1 month as it broke me out horribly along my hairline and across the T-zone. So sad considering the scent was heavenly.

I have to write a review and stick up for my beloved lotion! This is for normal to dry skin. Oily skinned gals should not try this. It is like your skin is saying "Ahhhhhh....I was so thirsty! Thanks for the refreshment!"Soaks in, feel great , smells so lovely!

Surprisingly I love this! I had a bad experience with the tourmaline lotion, so I decided to try this. It took a few days for me to love it, but I have to say I'm hooked! It comes in a pump, you get 5 oz for $30 which is a deal! It felt almost like it was going to leave residue or a film at first, but it doesn't. My skin is soft and perfectly hydrated, plus no breakouts and it's been at least a month of use. My skin had been feeling drier but this lotion is enough moisture even though I thought I'd need a cream. The only thing I wish it had was more technology. I like anti-agers and this lotion is very basic, but oddly my skin has never looked better.

I tried this line of products a few years ago, and found both the creme cleanser and this lotion to work very inconsistently and ineffectively (although, I do LOVE and still currently use the Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant). I found that it wasn't nearly hydrating enough in the winter months and had adverse effects -- it made my dried out areas even more dry, and made my oilier areas even more oily. It also caused my skin to breakout quite often.

For as many people that gave this lotion good reviews, why is there such a small percentage that would buy again? Anyway... I've used this lotion off and on for years. The thing that deters me from buying it when I run out is the $30 price tag, however, one 5-oz bottle lasts forever! You only need one pump to moisturize your entire face and neck. For a while, I was using the entire Aveda Botanical Kinetics line (cream cleanser, toner, exfoliant, lotion) and my face had never looked better. In the dry winter months, my skin tends to get flaky, irritated areas that seem to come out of nowhere. When I was using this line, my face never, ever got dry. Plus, I lived in Michigan then! I highly recommend this lotion. I recently went back and bought it again after spending who knows how much money trying to find something that even compares to this. I would buy "cheaper" products at the drugstore hoping I would find some miracle product that didn't cost me too much money. No avail. My face had really struggled with dryness all winter. Since I've been using this again (I went out and got the cream cleanser and lotion), my dryness has disappeared and my skin looks great. I'm breakout-prone, as well, and I have never broken out while using any products from this line. I think my skin really likes the botanical ingredients. Plus, you can't beat the vitamins and jojoba oil, too!

This is a nice, all purpose moisterizer- does not clog pores/cause breakouts, nice texture, gets rid of dryness immediatly w/o oiliness, good make-up base. I do not like the smell thought, a little synthetic and cheap- which is strange b/c aveda hair products have really crisp, unique smells. This is a perfectly decent product, but I just feel like there are other moisterizers that do more while still doing the basics- although I guess its always good to find a solid, reliable basic product! HUGE container, nice glass, pump dispenser is conveniant (clogs occasionally). I can't imagine being able to use this product in less than 2 years- there is alot- so as long as its stable (doesn't go bad)- its a pretty good value!

I have to take this product back. The only thing I liked about it was how hydrating it is. Otherwise, I broke out terribly on it. And I got red blotchy skin. I'm thinking it's all the botanicals. I'm now using the night cream from the body shop and having good luck with it.
I think Aveda adds too much stuff in their products. Sensitive skin types can't tolerate that.

Had to return this...made my oily, blemish-prone skin even worse. Now I have milia to deal with (those little under the skin bumps, commonly found in babies). Giving this two lippies because of Aveda's guarantee/return policy.
Definitely would not purchase again.

This is my absolute HG moisturizer. I have been using this for five years. I have tried many, many, many other moisturizers during the past five years, and I always keep coming back to the Aveda Botanical Kinetics. (The only other moisturizers that I've liked are L'Occitane olive moisturizer, Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins serum, and Korres rose moisturizer.) Even when I've liked another moisturizer, I've always ended up returning to this one. It's just "The One" for me. The texture/consistency is perfect for my skin (combination and VERY finicky) and it provides the PERFECT amount of moisture. The most impressive aspect of this moisturizer is its versatility: I use it at night and wake up with glowing, perfectly moisturized (and non-greasy!) skin, and then I use it in the morning under make-up (I use Bare Minerals) and not only does it provide a flawless look, it keeps my skin moisturized all day long (whereas with other moisturizers, my skin has begun to feel dry an hour after I moisturize). Again, without getting oily. I use this moisturizer all year round: spring, winter, summer, fall. And I live in New York, so this moisturizer can really handle a stark change of season. I've also found that the trick to getting this perfect is to apply it IMMEDIATELY after you've cleansed (I also use the Botanical Kinetics cleanser. I use the toner, but not daily or even very often. Only when I feel I need it. This product line just tends to agree with my skin - the whole line is gentle, clean, simple, and effective) when your pores are still somewhat open and your skin still has that just-towel-dried, quasi-damp feeling. This way, the product absorbs RIGHT into your skin very quickly, and immediately gets to work bringing nutrients and moisture to your skin. (I've definitely noticed what other reviewers have mentioned when they say it "sits on top of the skin" - this used to happen to me when I let my pores close up before I applied the moisturizer.) When used correctly, this stuff is just amazing. It's clean, light, pure, simple, and potent. I love everything about this. I've probably gone through forty or fifty bottles of this stuff, and I'll keep going with it. Nothing else compares.

My skin is a combination type, with oily forehead which nonetheless can become quite dry and flaky, but normal around my cheek area.
I chose this product initially because I liked the sustainability concept of Aveda and was looking for something different from my normal drugstore moisturisers.
This moisturiser has a light fluid texture and has a subtle woody flowery smell. My normal type skin absorbs it very well and feels soft but not oily even after a few hours wear. However around the oily skin area it tends to leave a slight sheen, but that is to be expected since it does not have any mattifying properties.
I generally use it as a night cream since it does not have any sunscreen. It is not a miracle cream in anyway, but it is great for those who have normal to slightly oily skin.
In terms of value for money, not too bad, especially if you convert to dollars per grams since alot of drugstore creams are equally expensive by that measure.
