Have looked for the perfect nude since FOREVER. Everything usually turns up too chalky on me but this is perfect. I'm on my 2nd tube and bought a back-up in case they discontinue!

This is a fantastic nude lips look on me, pinky brown that makes my lips look fuller than they actually are. Perfect for either the smokey eye look, or a natural daytime look.

On my quest to find the perfect nude lipstick..I gave this one a try..was not what I was looking for it had some kind of red undertone that washed me out so badly and made me look like an overmade hooker. the texture was a little drying also. will not buy again. worth a try for the price.

A good lipstick. A pinky brown color. It's not drying, but I wouldn't say it's moisturizing either. It feels great for the first hour and then my lips feel a little dry. UPDATE: What the hell? This is strange, but the color seemed to have changed from brown pink to a little redness. Now it doesn't look as good as it did when I first put it on. I wonder if all Revlon lipsticks changes colors after a while?

Wow. I just rediscovered this one in my stash and am wondering why I never gave it a chance before. Finding a perfect nude lipstick is a challenge, but one that I enjoy accepting! I have tons of nude lippies and there is more often than not, something wrong with each of them. They tend to be either too orange, or too pale, too grey, too pink, etc. I think I bought Nude Velvet over a year ago, tried it on once, and relegated it to the back of my drawer due to the dreaded concealer lips and moved on to the next best thing. Out of boredom, I resurrected this and gave it another go. The problem with these Super Lustrous lipsticks (IMO) is that the coverage is VERY creamy and VERY opaque. With a nude color, that can turn out pasty looking. When I applied this with a lip brush, the color just kind of melted on my lips created the most beautiful rosy nude. Topped with a dap of pinky gloss I was suddenly staring at the sexiest pair of nude lips I'd ever seen on my own face. I would def. buy this again when I've used this up.

With its neutral creme color, # 125 Nude Velvet is pretty much a universally flattering lipstick shade. According to The A List (which is a look at best-selling makeup products around the world) on page D10 in Time Magazine’s Spring 2006 Style & Design section, Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Nude Velvet is the one Argentine women in Buenos Aires prefer out of a whopping 72 shades. Understandable. If I had their gorgeous skin tone, it would probably be my favorite too. For reference: I have blue eyes, blonde hair and a medium skin tone. On my pale pink lips, Nude Velvet generally shows up as a creamy medium neutral brown. I wear mine mostly in the summer when my skin is sunkissed enough to make the shade look nuder. In the winter, when I add low lights to my hair, it becomes a classy nude which I like to wear with minimal eye makeup. I used to love this shade when brown lipsticks were all the rage, now I’d rather wear a bright lipstick to liven up my look or a paler nude with a hint of pink and a touch of shimmer for a sexy look year round. Must be the long Canadian winters…

Note: For what it’s worth, I found a website as I was searching for an ingredients list. It’s called Skin Deep. It is a project of Environmental Working Group (EWG). I don’t know who they are and why they exist, but their website provides news about the safety of popular health and beauty brands. If you are interested in their safety ratings, you can check out their report on Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lipstick in Nude Velvet at http://www.toxics.org/reports/skindeep2/report.php?type=PRODUCT&id=1000005861. On their product score which gives their relative concern level for the product from 0 (low) to 5 (higher), it scored 2.8 indicating a moderate concern.

This is my go to lippie for a traditional smoky eye look (the Bardot look, as one reviewer already said). I love the color. I hope this product will not be discontinued!

4.5 Lipsticks

What I don't love:
I kind of have a love/hate thing going on with the texture of this lipstick. The finish doesn’t seem to get along so well on my textured, medium lips, it kind of chunks up and gathers in the corners if I’m not careful (although, this happens w/all cream l/s on me). It’s too thick and creamy to apply without a mirror and isn’t particularly moisturizing, although it's not drying either.

What I love:
The color, however, is great and is why I keep buying it. A Bardot nude. It’s a true, beautiful, cool-toned brownish nude with enough peach in it to keep from being "brown" and goes on matte. (I think it’s supposed to look more creamy, but for me, it’s a matte. IMO, creams to be have a bit more of a wet sheen to them that this l/s has.) It’s very similar to Rimmel’s “Birthday Suit” but Nude Velvet is a more pigmented thick and creamy version. Great on it’s own or with a neutral, spice or brown liner, this is yet another nude whose color I love and goes with everything. I don’t wear it often simply because this is a true lipstick, meaning it’s not sheer and it requires all of the maintenance that a lipstick requires (I’m a total gloss and sheer l/s girl). I get lots of complements and looks with this color, part of the reason I love it. Sexy, understated and goes with everything. In all, it’s my second favorite lipstick of all time. I have backups in my lab coat, my purse, and my car when isn't too warm. I've even melted a tube down to put in an old fluidline pot so it's more portable and easier to apply w/my fingers.

Staying power is quite nice, but nothing special and I don’t find the SL collection to be particularly moisturizing, but they’re not drying either. No smell or taste to these little babies and the price is right for around $7 USD at the drug store. (You can always find them for less, on sale or as a buy one get one free.) The new packaging is better than the old; a shiny black tube with a clear top and a gold band around the middle with “Revlon” printed on it...nothing to show off, but nothing to be shy about when applying in public.

Have and will continue to repurchase. NC15-25, light green eyes, medium textured and colored lips

This is such a stunning color--a beautiful, rich, nude that isn't too brown. I get compliments on it all the time. It is a cool toned shade and looks great with a smokey eye or for a professional daytime look--a very versatile lipstick. I love it with Nude Lustre l/g, too. I've already bought about three tubes of this to have on hand every where I go--I hate being without it.

This creamy matte nude glides on smoothly and provides full coverage. I find that within an hour, it starts feeling a little dry on my lips. I do love the color, which, as described already, has pink undertones. It's not an HG nude for me (I prefer Clinique's Creamy Nude), but it still looks good on me. I like the sleek black and gold packaging and the price was good because my friend gave it to me so it was free. : ) And I agree that this is perfect with a smokey eye look.

This is a great nude color for me. Nude Velvet in tube looked pale(very beige), I ususally wear darker colors, but I have finally found perfect Nude lip look without making me look dead! I am fair w/hazel eyes and I love this one. With pigment in my lips looks like pretty beige-pink.

Bought this for $1 on sale. Didnt think much of it before buying but the color is lovely. It tones down my pigmented lips and like the reviewer below said, looks like Angelina Jolie (color) lips. Its a creamy nude (hint of pink) beige but not as pink as Hug Me. May look ashy on some people, especially if you are much paler. I am NC30 asian and this is a great natural nude. with black smokey eyes I usually wear NARS Honolulu Honey, which is warmer with a bit more yellow nude.

This is my version of Angelina Jolie lips! Usually colors marked nude turn orange on me but this was the perfect pale pinky beige that did not make me look washed out. I am Asian and use MAC NC20, LM Warm Ivory and BB W Ivory. Even bare faced on my yellow toned skin (no foundation or any other make-up)it gives my skin a healthy glow. The effect is identical to Laura Mercier's Discretion but with only the fraction of the price tag. This is how I hoped Nars' Belle de Jour and MAC folio would look on me.

*This was such a beautiful color, but I didn't like the formula. It was dry, yet greasy to me. Very heavy, too. I love the tube, though- black with gold trim, kind of like Chanel! I love black & gold, together, I think it's beautiful. I'm going to try Cover Girl's lipsticks to see if their formulas are better.
