I got this eye shadow in the Urban Decay 'Alice in wonderland' palette.
This is like an antique gold with slightly bronze sheen to it.
It has glitter particles but they are manageable.

I love UD eyeshadows and have pretty much come to terms with dealing with glitter fall-out... It's unfortunate, but true. This color would probably look better on someone with green eyes, but I like to use it to tone down darker colors. It's a great sandy color, which is nice for neutral days. When people talk about fall-out, they aren't kidding so keep that in mind when purchasing!

Dear Maui Wowie, why do you make it so hard for me to love you? I want to love you, I do! You're a beautiful colour, you're smooth and silky, you blend easily and you compliment so many other shadows perfectly. Why do you insist on being glittery, and making my face look like a disco ball by day's end? Why can't I, or any of my makeup artist friends, find a way to apply you without fallout? Why must you be so difficult? Until you find answers to these questions, we simply can't be together.

I freaking love this color. It is one of my favorite eyeshadow colors. It is unique I can't describe it...except for that you must like glitter shadows! Get this!

I really like this color. I received it in my Box of Shadows 3. When I first got the palette I really didn't think I would use this color much because of the glitter fallout. This is a great golden brown shade that looks amazing when paired with darker shades like purples and greens. It is a very pretty color and it blends very well. I just hate the fallout of it and I wish there was a color like this without the glitter fallout.

i think i found my new hg shadow! this is such a smooth, rich eyeshadow, it goes on like a dream and leaves my lid looking so satiny smooth. it looks perfect just paired with black liquid liner and some brow highlight when i'm in rush for work or school.
this is going to replace MACs woodwinked as my go-to shadow from now on. this golden brown shade is refreshing for me compared to woodwink's brassy, coppery finish.
i really didn't have much problem with glitter fallout and i dont even use the primer ud makes most days.
anyway, people who complain about glitter in their eyeshadows should not be using urban decay products in the first place, imo.

Maui Wowie would be absolutely perfect if only it didn't have the fallout it does. It's not a huge amount (compared to some other UD shadows) but it's definitely there. Maui Wowie is a very beautiful shade of darkened sort of burnished gold (that's the only way I can describe it...I'm not so good with colour descriptions) that looks really lovely on brown eyes. I wear it on my lid and it gives that lovely, "wide awake" look to my eyes that makes them look bright and enhances their dark brown colour. And while I love the shimmer in it - more and more, I find that shadows with shimmer do make my eyes look more alive - I could live quite happily without the additional bits of glitter on my cheekbones! Definitely worth buying if you're looking for something new and "brightening" and if you love glitter on your cheeks for a night-time look, you will love it even more!

I so wish Urban Decay would address the issue of this glitter fall-out in some of their shadows. Maui Wowie and Midnight Cowboy Rides Again are such really beautiful colours and I can't imagine they would be any less beautiful if the chunk glitter were to be removed from them or at least made somehow more "integrated" into the mixture so it stayed ON THE BRUSH and ON YOUR LIDS. I would use these colours all the time if they didn't have this fallout problem. And you only need look at the reviews for these shadows (individually or in reviews of palettes which contain them) to see that at least 90% of the people who have them complain about this issue. UD can't really not know, can they? And I think most of us know about things like using a primer, tapping off the brush, etc., so suggesting that the glitter is "user error" or that we're too stupid to know how to use the shadow correctly is downright insulting.

Love this colour, really nice gold, NOT yellowish (which is good for me because yellow-gold colours dont suit me much). It also has fine silver glitter in it which i think is a nice touch.

I use this over urban decay 'sin' primer potion and it looks awesome!
Without primer theres quite a lot of fallout but it still looks pretty good.

This is one of my favorite UD Eye Shadow. Its glittery, but not chunky like Midnight Cowboy Rides Again and Midnight Cowboy. With the primer, it doesn't fall and stays all day. Its such a pretty all day color, but you can also use it for night too. I love love love this color. I'll buy it again and again.

I have this as part of the Ammo palette and the Alice in Wonderland BoS. I am generally attracted to UD for their bright and outrageous colors and super-saturated pigmentation, but this is a favorite for a neutral day. Rated a 4 because sometimes the glitter can be a little unmanageable, but even glitter has its place in the world.

This is one of my favourite eyeshadows from Urban Decay. It is glittery - but nowhere glittery as some shadows. It's workable. It's such a gorgeous colour too. Have this in BoS III but I would definitely but it on its own.

Despite the fact that I HATE UD's glittery eyeshadows, Maui Wowie is my favorite eyeshadow out of their entire collection. Yes, there is fallout, but not nearly as much as midnight cowboy rides again. It is workable glitter, and with pixie epoxy I have little to no fallout.

The color on me is an antiqued gold, no green tones as some people have found, so definitely test it out at Sephora as this color shows up differently on different people. Over pixie epoxy this is a rich pale goldish platinum type color on me, beautiful and looks great with brown/ hazel eyes.

I would give this 4.5 lippies if I could, only down side is the glitter, pixie epoxy is a definite must with this.

LOVE

ETA: I decided to try Maui Wowie again because I got sick of seeing it unloved and unused in my collection. After applying my eyeshadow primer, I *very carefully* applied Maui, making sure to be careful with my brush in order to minimize the glitter flying about. Once I finished my look, I had very little glittler to clean from where it shouldn't be. I really do love the color, it is beautiful. In light of these new developments, I have bumped my rating up a couple of lippies. But I still don't think that I should have to take extra precautions when applying an eyeshadow in order to get the desired results. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW: I've loved UD shadows for quite a while now, so of course I know all about the "glitterbomb" reputation of a few of the colors. I've not owned any until now, however, when I purchased the BOS III. My review for each of three shadows (Midnight Cowboy, Uzi and Maui Wowie) is the same: absolutely beautiful color concept/unacceptable, ridiculous glitter present. I finally broke down to try these three in the privacy of my home on a sick day. As soon as I laid my brush upon each color, I knew I was in for it. Glitter flew everywhere as I applied the shadow. Cleanup was horrendous because it was never entirely complete (you know how glitter does!). After eye makeup remover I thoroughly washed my face. Looking in the mirror I STILL saw hints of glitter here and there. I can only surmise that UD makes good money off these three colors and that's why they're still around.

A tad too much glitter for me, also appears kind of "frosty", I can't/wont use it as a wash but could be used as part of some kind of smokey brown eye look. I would not repurchase this alone though, it's not that special.

This is a gorgeous, shiny sandy color. The glitter makes this shadow special. I didn't have any problems with fallout. I like mixing it with Mildew to create a shimmery khaki look. I think this would go well with a lot of other shadows as well as being fine on its own. Will repurchase.

Originally, I hated this color. I thought it was ugly, and wouldn't look good on me. On top of that, it was an UD signature glitterbomb. But, I grew to like it, and figured out a way to reduce fallout so it was manageable and useful.
This is a sandy, antqieu gold color, with maybe a hint of green. It really is gorgeous, now that I've come to appreciate it. What I do is put a lot of loose powder under my eyes, and then tap off the brush twice, and pat the color on all over the eye. Once I'm done apply the colors to my lid, I take a tissue or a face brush and sweep off the loose powder that caught the glitter. Works like a charm!
My favorite combo is this and Smog. So wearable, and yet, it is still sexy and playful! Definitely give this a go if you're willing to take added precautions to prevent a faceful of glitter!

Maui Wowie is a sandy, medium gold color with silver glitter...which is chunky and falls out like CRAZY! The color itself is absolutely beautiful, just wish they'd hold back on the glitter...or make a glitter-free alternative. The color is neutral and subtle and lasts all day. I probably would not buy this again only because of the copious amount of glitter, just not for me.

I got this as part of the Ammo eyeshadow palette ($36). It is a sandy gold color with shimmer and chunky silver glitter. Like most of the other reviewers, I find the glitter to be very annoying as it tends to land on the tops of cheeks. I try to take a small fan paintbrush that I bought at Michaels to take it off and it generally works. Having a primer is a mist as most of the glitter will stick to that. Another method I use is to pat it on the lid as opposed to swiping, as that will cause the glitter to be brushd off. Blends beautifully and the shadow itself lasts a very long time. If they released a non-glitter version I would definitely buy that.

i saw this color in one of the newer palettes and had to search through the individual colors to find it. TOTALLY gorgeous true gold shade. i've been using it most days lately when i'm in a hurry and just need a shimmery neutral-ish all over lid shade that looks nice. i just wish they'd remove the gross chunky sparkles from it, and then it would be perfect.

oh, and as for glitter fallout, i find that if i use it lightly over my shiseido gold lights hydropowder color cream shadow, i got zero fallout, which is nice because random sparkles on your face is so0o0o like, 4th grade ok.
