I don't know why I bother with Olay products anymore. I've never found one that didn't break me out or do something equally horrendous to my skin. This one is just as terrible as every other Olay product I've tried....it's a creamy, heavy lotiony cleanser with "exfoliating beads" that feel kind of gritty and like they'd get in your eyes. Bottom line for me is that it didn't clean my face very well and broke me out something fierce. Returned.

I have average-to-dry skin, and I don't use a toner. With that in mind, I'm all for cleansers that are gentle and don't strip the skin of natural oils. This one was rich & creamy and for sure was non-drying. What I didn't like was that I felt some sort of film or residue after rinsing. However, if you have dry skin you may not mind this, and may feel that it is somewhat moisturizing. My skin just didn't feel clean to me though. I also found this cleanser was not great in removing makeup. I won't repurchase. My search for a gentle cleanser continues.

I love this stuff! I have pretty dry skin and KP bumps on my arms and tiny ones on my face, and this is the only thing I've tried so far that is 1) cheap enough to replenish religiously even though I'm using it often, and 2) gentle and effective without being drying. The tiny microbeads don't really do miracles as far as exfoliation, but they definitely help when I've got the flaky dry skin I normally get on my face in the winter. The salicylic acid helps calm my KP bumps down to a manageable level, and it's *just* cleansing enough to remove my makeup and still leave my face soft. I don't wear a lot of foundation or blush, so I don't need an industrial strength makeup remover or anything. I can find this at Dollar General most times for less than $5, and DG even has their generic version of this- I have tried it, but it doesn't smell as nice.

This cleanser has been a part of my nightly routine for the last 2 years. I first use dhc deep cleansing oil and follow with 1 pump of this product. Alone, this will not remove your make-up but the combination of the 2 products does the trick. I do not break-out or have any increase in oiliness or dryness on my combo skin. I love a pump as a dispenser too. As for increased softness I never really noticed a change until I used dhc renewing aha cream twice a week. I think that is a far better exfoliant that's why I took 1 lippie off my overall rating.

I've used this product off and on since the 90's and IMO it's a staple in my skin care collection! It's a glycerin and sodium lauryl sulfate-based cleansing lotion with salicylic acid and microbeads. This cleanser offers moderate-level cleansing and mild exfoliation and is ideal for normal to dry skin types. I like how it seems to cleanse a bit more than normal lotion cleansers and that it tends to refine my pores with regular use. And no dryness! It does have an Olay flowery scent. Nothing too strong and it doesn't bother me.
I don't think this cleanser is strong enough to be used as a waterproof sunblock and makeup remover, but those that wear a little makeup should be fine with this alone. I use it in the morning when I want to brighten up my skin. When I wear sunscreen and foundation, I use a makeup remover first then use the Olay with the Clarisonic.
It isn't my only cleanser but it's definitely a permanent in my routine. Will repurchase!

Bless you, Olay! I love this. I wasn't expecting it to be a cream cleanser, so I was a bit disappointed the first time I used it. But my disappoint only lasted until I started washing my face. This has a great, light smell. The exfoliating particles are very small and fine, so this feels like it's exfoliating but very gently. My face just felt amazing after washing with this, like my skin was very clean but also not stripped. Just very balanced. My skin also felt very, very soft. I can't remember when my skin felt or looked this nice after washing. I will definitely repurchase. I will also update if something changes (fingers crossed this doesn't happen!!).

****UPDATE: I still love this, but I'm wondering if it's the cause of some pimples that cropped up after I started using it (normally skin is very clear) and the redness I noticed this morning. I'm talking big patches of red. They've faded now, a few hours later, but I've never seen anything like that on my face before. This cleanser does sting a bit while using it, so I'm wondering if the concentration of beta hydroxy is just too high for my skin for daily use. I scooped up some Olay Foaming Face Wash Sensitive Skin (b/c Paula Begoun recommends it) while at the Dollar General earlier. I think I might need to start using this renewal cleanser just once a day every other day or so. It also has exfoliating beads in it, and I've always been told that daily exfoliation is too harsh for any type of skin. I'll update once I've tested this theory and let y'all know if it was this cleanser that's caused these issues.

I've been dealing with acne for a while, and wanted to switch back to Olay products. I decided that I'd give this a try (it has salicylic acid) and I'm so glad I did! I've been using this every day for a week and my skin is clearing up. I know it's marketed as an age fighting cleanser, but for my mild acne it's done wonders! I love the scent, and the creamy consistency coupled with small exfoliating beads. Foaming cleansers tend to dry out my combination skin, but this product is just perfect for me! I also love that it's in a pump bottle instead of a tube. Very convenient to use in the shower.
Update 3/6/10: It has taken care of almost all of my acne. I've had a giant pimple on my chin for a couple of months now, which won't go away. If you have more than the occasional pimple, this most likely won't do the job. Changed the rating from a 5 to a 3.

i bought this on sale and i would be even more pissed if i did not. i usually love olay products, but not this one. it did make my skin soft, but it didn't feel clean at all! i continued to use it, b/c sometimes your skin has to get used to some products.then i broke out and this has not happened since i was 16. after 1 week my skin is back to normal. still use their other products with no problems =)

Like the scent and it feels good but it DID NOT remove all of my makeup. (Back to Neutrogena's Fresh Foaming Cleanser which does remove all of my makeup.)

This doesn't clean well at all. It leaves a lot of residue also, so it feels like washing with cold cream.

I have been using this for about a week and this cleanser has done wonders for my skin. I was previously using Aveeno Ultra-calming foaming cleanser, which wasnt irritating my skin but also wasn't doing much to help it. This cleanser has reduced the redness and dryness in my cheeks. I wake up to smooth skin and my skin is less oily throughout the day. Love it!

I love this cleanser. I have strayed for a long time, and came back to this. It makes my skin look wonderful--- clear, soft, and isn't harsh enough to cause redness or drying. It also has a pleasant scent. The only thing that I don't like about it, is when i rinse it off, it usually runs into my eyes which doesn't sting but leaves a haze which I have to use eye drops to clear out. I haven't found anything that works better than this for me, and for around 5 bucks...its my HG.

I wish this stuff removed makeup a little better - but it will suffice. Luckily I don't wear too much anyway. I like the texture of this stuff, the smell doesn't bother me too much. My skin can be a little touchy and this doesn't irritate it, or make me break out. Sometimes I use my MAC Cleanse Off before using this if I've got a full face on. Otherwise, can't ask for more!

EDIT: I decided that it doesn't clean well enough for me after getting a higher amount of clogged pores around my nose and mouth and have stopped using this product. I went back to my Rachel Perry tangerine dream cleanser.

I bought this product for $5 online, pretty cheap for a cleaners. I have really dry skin, but I find this makes my skin soft and its also exfoliates gently. I like that it's not harash on my skin. Although it says it's age renewal, I don't see a difference, my wrinkles are still visible.

I use this product to wash my face each morning and at night before I go to bed. It doesn't dry out my skin and leaves it feeling really noticeably smooth and clean. I've used a whole bottle and have since replaced it with another for about $5 you get 6.78 FL Oz (200ml) which is a great deal. I've used much more expensive cleanser in the past but this is by far one of the best and you can't beat the price.

What the other reviewers said is true, the microbeads are too slight to work as far as exfoliating although I think it would work for fairly sensitive skin because it is not abrasive at all. The smell is light and pleasant.

This definitely doesn't clean well. i thought this beta hydroxy would help my acne-prone/aging skin but it's really aggravated now. maybe there's not enough beta hydroxy? I think it's more like a cold cream cleanser than a face wash. also, not enough beads to make a difference as far as exfoliation. also I'm looking at the bottle & I'm not sure it's non-comedogenic. In all fairness, I just did the olay skin profile online and this is not the cleanser olay says I need.

Oh, how I wanted to love this cleanser! Unfortunately, it just caused my sensitive rosacea skin to break out. I really like Olay products in general, and I think this product would really be lovely without the beads. Woe is me :-(.....

Every time I washed my face with this cleanser, my face stung so bad. My sensitive skin definitely reacted to the fragrance, and I broke out shortly after using this product several times. Not recommended for sensitive skin!

Let me start by saying that I only use this in the morning. It claims that it removes MU, but I use EL DW which is impossible to get off with out gasoline...lol. (not really) At night I use the Olay daily facial wipes which work well for removing MU. Anyway, I use this in the morning and it works well for that purpose. It's a nice simple cleanser for getting the night oil off the face and refreshing the skin without drying it out. It's not the best out there, but it serves it's purpose and is reliable. What more can you ask for from a cleanser?
