Love this! It is difficult to find a red that compliments darker skin, so I generally shy away from reds. This is a red lipstick that will flatter all skin tones. I'm also not a lipstick fan (this is currently the only one I have), but this lipstick is moisturizing and has a fruity scent/flavor, without actually tasting sweet. It has a slight shimmer and it's not too orange or too bright. I pair it with a gloss for added shine and it is perfect! Will definitely repurchase. You can't beat the price either...99 cents at CVS! Try it!

Surprisingly good lipstick for the price. The color is not too dramatic and goes well with my fair skin.

This was my first red lipstick because i wanted to add one to my collection. The color is very nice red, not to bright but just right. It contains goldish shimmer in it, but when worn on the lips it doesn't show. Overall very nice application and color.

On my lips it's a red colour with a very slight hint of a pink colour, and gold shimmer. I've always been big on pink lipcolours as I think that's what looks best on me. This is my first reddish lipstick. I bought it when it was on sale to experiment with it. I think it was a good buy overall, especially given its price.

This is really a lovely color. On me it's a very pinky red with a nice amount of shimmer. To me it looks similar to MAC New York Apple but leaning more toward pink than red. (plus if my 3 year old ruins it I'm only out 93 cents instead of 14 bucks which is nice) It's moisturizing without being too slick and I like the fruity scent. It's decently pigmented and wears fairly well: needs to be re-applied but not terribly often. I don't adore the packaging (because of the potential for nicking) but honestly for that price I'm not that concerned. I do like the bullet shape and the fact that I can see it through the cap.

Ruby is almost fushia when I look at it in the tube. When applied, it looks like a very bright coral red that should work well for both cool and warm toned ladies, although I think that the cool toned gals might like it better. This is a bright lipstick that can be comfortably worn like a red lipstick but with a little more confidence. This does have some shimmer in it but I think that helps with keeping the lipstick from being too bright and unwearable. Most times shimmer can make a bright lipstick wearable. Lasting power is average and the formula is moisturizing. I didn't detect any scent like you do sometimes with the higher end lipsticks. Great lipstick, great price.

Let me be the first to say, I don't hate NYC lipstick packaging. It makes it easy for me to find a color, and it's shaped like a bullet like MAC l/s.
Secondly, I love a lot of the Ulta Moist Lipwear colors, but this is one my favorites. It's one of the most perfect reds (I've been searching for some long!) and looks great under a gloss, especially MAC Spring Bean. I just adore this color and probably won't wear any other bold red, as this really is it. Plus, for a $1 or less, I'll take this any day over lots of other lipsticks.
For reference, I am PPP/FFF NW 15-20 with blondish hair and hazel eyes. I'm cool toned.

It is a great lipstick as all of the other NYCs. However the shade is not very right for me. First I am an Asian with light/med coloring, pretty warm, falling in FFF/GGG region. The l/s is a bit too cool on me, making my lips so standing out. That to many others may be a good thing, but I am only used to muter lip colors. The color is actually very pretty by itself, so I am guessing fair girl will look fabulous with it. It's definitely among the first few to consider when such a color is needed. I give it a "yes" to the repurchase question anyhow.

Another NYC fabulous lipstick! Bought a handful of NYC l/s the other day, and am loving Ruby. I agree with what else was posted- this will drive men wild! It's not red like you would expect from "Ruby," but it is a bright pink/coral color with a lot of shimmer. It definitely lasts, and the color is awesome. Still am shocked how much I love such a cheapo makeup brand! NYC lipsticks are DEFINITELY worthwhile.

Let me be the first to admit that I have always been a d/s snob when it comes to makeup. At some point in my makeup obssession, I convinced myself that any quality lipstick would be in the $20+ range. Imagine my surprise when I picked this up for $0.99 and found myself garnering more compliments than with the majority of my high-end lot! Shocked, I resigned myself to accepting that the color might be fabulous, but certainly the formula would leave something to be desired. Wrong again. Hours later, it looks like I just applied it. Unlike my beloved Stila and Nars lipsticks, this one doesn't even come off on my glass. Needless to say, I'm eating my words and branching out to more of these bargain-priced lipsticks. Consider me converted!

How sultry and sexy is this color!? I was really looking to branch out and really hit this one on the nail. It's a deep fuchsia that is just amazing. Smooth, gorgeous, smells good, no taste. Definitely could drive the men wild with this lipstick!
