I used this for a while and it was ok. More of a normal clear coat than anything else. I'm not doggin on Sally, as I lover her. But if you want something that's going to improve the stregth of your nails go for the green tea + bamboo nail strengthener with the green top.

Oh boy, Sally, you're a tricksy one! I have to give this company something for rebranding the same products again and again and making us pay for them all over again.


I used this treatment 18 years ago when it was called Sally Hansen Iron Strength or something like that. I swear it is the same. Exact same smell, gluey texture that breaks into stringies, and the TINY BUBBLES you get on the surface of your manicure that makes the finish rough instead of smooth.


Yes. it makes your nails strong, but they look lumpy. If that's OK with you, this stuff is great. I didn't like it 18 years ago though, and I don't like it now.


I clicked the NO button for "Would you buy this product again?" But let me qualify. I may buy this again by mistake if Sally rebrands it yet again, but I won't buy it on purpose.

I bought the blue bottle about a month ago... and I LOVE it! I'd been using diamond strength nail strenghtener by SH and it did NOTHING! Using Hard as Wraps has made my nails feeel SO strong. However, I assume it doesn't make your actual nails strong but acts more as a set of armour aha. It comes off with regular polish remover and I deffinately notice the difference between my thin week nails and the hard as wraps. I LOVE IT. It's my new absolute essential, I just use it instead of a base coat and I've had no problems with excessive chipping/tip wear etc. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through my bottle - you don't need much and I've already gone out and bought two more bottles! A must have if all your 'Nail Strengtheners' aren't doing their job!

I purchased the blue bottle in August of last year and it worked fine for a while - my manicures lasted for about 3/4 days. As time goes by the polish gets thicker making it harder to apply to nails because it becomes gloppy and stringy. This causes a slow drying time and the tendency to develop bubbles. I don't recommend this product unless you go through a bottle of base coat in a couple of months or don't mind throwing out a bottle that is 3/4 full.

I bought Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Hard as Wraps in the blue bottle and am not sure if it is different from this one, but since I couldn't find the exact one I bought on this site I'm posting my review here.

This product is great, it revived my nails from soft, peeling, yellow and hard to grow nails to longer stronger and whiter. I wear this as a base or alone and it has helped my nails grow quicker. sometimes if I don't apply the product I notice the white part of my nails start to turn clear but after a day or two of putting the hard as wraps on they become white and healthy looking again. I now have long nails that I NEVER had in my life and I thank hard as wraps for it.

The only con of this product is that the more you use it the more it becomes tick, I have about 1/4 left in my bottle and the product had become so thick that it made tiny bubbles when i applied it on my nails and the bubbles make bumps when I apply coloured polish on top

I only started wearing nail polish last year so this was the first base coat I've ever bought. I bought the one in the blue bottle and have been using it for the past six months. Nail polish generally lasted 2 days for me with this base coat, before it would start to show cracks and then start chipping. But I was quite happy with it initially, since it did provide a thick and even base for the polish, and my nails did feel harder with it on.

I noticed that my nails were very dry when I took off the polish, but I assumed that was what happened when you wore nail polish. I also noticed that after a couple of months it developed a stringiness and the formula became a bit gluggy. A couple of months ago I developed peeling nails, a problem I've never had before. Because of this, I finally decided to try another base coat and I suddenly noticed the difference! My nail polish now lasts 4 days without showing any cracks and only shows a little tip-wear. With the new base coat, my nails did not chip or peel off. I now think that these problems were because of the Sally Hansen base coat.

Suffice to say, I am throwing out my bottle and will not purchase it again. Just thought I should warn other people that the Hard As Wraps Acrylic Gel formula in the blue bottle can be extremely drying. I wish I'd known about this earlier. It would have spared me the past two months of painful rips on my fingernails and being embarassed about the state of my nails.

Love/hate with this one. Yes, it did make my butterfly wing-thin nails far less flexible than they are but did they ever start peeling in layers like I couldn't believe! For a moment I thought I must be ill or having a major deficiency as my nails were always thin, prone to breakage and minor splitting (rubber glove hater) but ever since I started using this, I noticed that as soon as the product starts wearing off the tip of the nail, it takes the entire top layer with it. For argument's sake, let's assume it's just me and focus on the good things:
It isn't stringy or messy to apply in any way, just like any nail polish
It dries fast
It makes your nails feel a bit stronger immediately and one coat is all you need as per instructions
It serves a decent purpose as a base coat although I didn't notice any nail colour longevity that I could credit to this particular product.

I did not like this product. Its hard as wraps and did the same damage that real acrylic wraps did to my nail. I already have nails that chip and crack and this made it worse. And the only way to remove the polish is to use pure acetone.

My normally strong nails had a hell of a week when I moved - I did a lot of box opening and furniture moving and cleaning. That same week I spilled bleach on my hands and the result was cracking, peeling, breaking nails. I picked up a bottle of this and after wearing it for about ten days, then trimming my nails and applying another coat they looked good as new. I've been using it as a base or top coat ever since. As for the little bubbles, I found a smooth, steady application and no bottle shaking eliminated the problem

Initially loved, but somehow it's turned on me: serious teeny bubbles all over that make my nails feel like sandpaper. It may be because I put it in the refrigerator with my other polishes that it had a different effect possibly, but I see that other ladies have had the same complaint.

That said, it is good for keeping nails strong. If I can find another hardener I'd change -- bubbles make me crazy.

This stuff has worked great for me althought the drying time takes a little while longer than I'd like. I've noticed if I use a fast drying top coat over it then it dries faster. It also will make your colors pop more than a regular top coat which I love.

This stuff is awesome, I can't believe I didn't try it sooner! It dries so quickly, provides a gorgeous healthy & shiny finish on its own. It helps my nail polish to glide on evenly. Sometimes my nails crack on the side when they get really long and this helps them stay in tact for atleast another week.. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

This used to be my go-to base coat (I'm giving the poshe antimicrobial base a try - digging it so far but it doesnt have the tint i get with this) and I love it. I always buy it in sheer beige, though I've tried the pink tinted one and it's nice too. I love how it looks on it's own as well. covers any slight stains I may have while looking completely natural and is very glossy! when I wear one coat coverage polishes, chromes, holographics or by itself I use two coats of this first to give it a super-even looking, supportive layer of polish to protect my super thin (but improving!) nails.

I would buy this a million times! I have weak, bendy, peeling nails and have been looking for something that will make them stronger. I was lemming for one from ORLY that I had not found yet. I happened to be browsing at my local walgreens and stumbled upon this. It was somewhere in the ballpark of 4 dollars. I thought, what the heck its worth a shot!

So I got it. I tried it out that night (last night) and OMG! I love it! I didnt realize until today how well it is doing. I applied it to my bare nails. Then base coated it, applied my polish then top coat. It couldnt get any better than this! Definitely a must buy for my fellow peelies!

I just picked this up after reading the reviews here. My natural nails are really flimsy/bendy and just weak. I thought I'd give this stuff a try to see if I can build some strength to my nails. I like it so far. It dries quickly and is very shiny (I'm not wearing polish over it). I'll re-post after a few more times with my experience after prolonged use!

I love to use this as a base coat. It helps my nail polish apply evenly and dry quicker. I also use SH acrylic top coat to keep my nail polish shiny and chip free.. truly a favorite!!!

I would recommend using this as a regular coat on top of nails and no polish on top. Makes them look so clean and nice even without color!!


I am planning on purchasing a few just to have as backups. LOVE!

This stuff is miraculous! I just took off my pink/white acrylics, so my usually weak, thin nails were even more so but I put this on as soon as I removed the acrylics and I have not had a single nail break or tear!! I use my hands A LOT at work (typing, filing, paperwork, etc) and at home (dishes, laundry, caring for an infant). I will continue to purchase this over and over!

This is a thin acrylic gel base coat that dries very quickly. It makes my nails feel strong and hard, more so than with regular base coats.

Unfortunately, it did nothing to prevent my polish from chipping and peeling the second day, so it doesn't work for me.

I've always had problems with my thin weak nails peeling and splitting. Tried this Acrylic Nail Gel Hardner, even though I was skeptical of it because there are SO many different SH products at the store.
But I was really surprised! The first application of only 1 coat noticeably strengthened my nail tips compared to many other treatments I've tried! Quick drying too!
I'm applying my favorite color over it and it also dries quickly.
This is one of the best Sally Hansen nail treatments I've ever tried.

I like this product! I use it on top of color polish, which for me usually chips the very next day, but with this product it lasts up to 4 or 5 days depending. I've never had any problems with bubbling, and to be honest I really like the applicator brush - I find it really easy to apply just the right amount of polish.

I can see this living in my nail drawer for a very long time. :)
