Irritates my skin. Pretty sure this is the thing that caused breakouts along my cheeks because i NEVER break out there otherwise; this was the only thing that had changed in my skin routine. When i put this on, my skin feels uncomfortable, and mildly inflamed--perhaps i am allergic to something in it. Would advise potential buyers to request sample prior to purchase and try it out, or get the little tiny $3 tub of this. Test it out. I don't have sensitive skin or any known allergies, yet this irritates my skin, makes it tingle and itch.
.
Unlike other reviewers, i reeaaaally love this unique scent it has. Not like rotten veggies to me, more like herbs and the smell of my grandma's garden.

Unimpressive... I'll start by saying that I received a sample size of this product during a trip to LUSH so I can't state any long term effects.
This sells for $23.95 and you get 1.5oz. The Lush lady recommended it to me for my oily/combo skin which I found odd since I felt the moisturizer was somewhat heavy on my skin, leaving my face feeling a bit greasier than normal. I also found that the product has an odd scent; it's not horrid, but the smell is unpleasant and def not something I would like to wear on my face. Just generally doesn't seem worth the price.
Overall I would much prefer to use my Olay Complete for Sensitive skin moisturizer which is far cheaper, contains sun screen and works better for me.

I received this as a sample and I'll be going back to buy a full tub. I've been using this as a night time moisturizer. The smell's not awesome but it's okay. I like how it sinks into my skin and doesn't make it feel oily. It keeps my breakouts at bay. It moisturizers. It does everything that I expect a moisturizer to do :)

Have combination skin with rosacae and adult acne in T-zone. Very hard to find a moisturizer that works for all this! Imperialis has been my go-to for years. Helps that I live in Seattle, since it's a little lightweight. I use at night and alternate with Celestial or Mychelle night creams in rare times when it's cold and dry and my skin gets tight. Love the smell too.

i only used this two or three times and it completely broke me out! :( i got a sample of this though and i noticed the lady just scooped some of the tester into a sample jar, so it might've been that the tester was dirty from ppl touching and testing it...

either way, i wouldn't purchase because i REALLY don't like the smell of this. it has a bit of a ginseng smell to it and a bit of plasticy smell. its unpleasant :P

my intentions of trying this cream was to try a thicker moisturizer for the winter but i don't think it was good at doing that. it might've been the pimples it's been giving me, but i felt that my face felt rougher than it was before i started using this.

dissapointed :(

Second moisturiser i ever used. second cast off from my mum. It seemed like this foreign gloopy gelly-like substance that I didn't understand. i went back to it in my late teens in my quest for a natural great moisturiser (probably my mum's goal too) and didn't stick with it. I like that it has lots of natural rather than synthetic ingredients. It doesn't seem at one with my skin though. It doesn't work with it as one.

I love this product! i use it every day for my combination skin. i love how smooth it leaves my skin and how long it lasts. im not a big fan of the smell but its something im willing to deal with because of how well it works. I use this product instead of a primer because primer makes my skin break out. its amazing<3

This is fab!
I love this on my combination skin!
I received a sample quite some time ago, and I'm still using that very same sample!
It moisturizes my dry areas, and kind of dries out my oily area (without actually drying out).
It really balances out my skin, it's a very light, thin texture, and I like the smell as well!
As soon as I get my LUSH gift certificate for my birthday, this will be the first thing I buy!
:)

I got this as a sample. I was really excited to try it and hoped i would really like it, but i didnt. It feels very light and skin feels smooth, but it made my skin shine alot (im a combination skin type). Really glad i didnt buy the full size pot. will not buy ever again, if you want to try it, get the sample first.

This isn't a horrible moisturizer, but it isn't for my skin type.

The smell was pleasant, nothing too strong. The moisturizer itself didn't soak into my skin right - too thick maybe?

It didn't break my skin out, which is really good, but I need to find something more for my skin then this one

I bought Imperialis as my friend who works at LUSH Inverness told me that it was a basic moisturizer for combination skin. I found the herbal smell and light texture pleasant and soothing (if a tiny bit sticky), but Imperialis just didn't do much for my skin. I broke out a little bit, but that tends to happen whenever I add something new to my skin routine, so I don't hold that against this product. But my skin didn't look any more glowy or bright, nor did the texture improve; it just stayed the same. Even that would have warranted four lippies, but I dropped it to three because the lotion got a bit gunky relatively quickly. I finished the pot (and I love LUSH's black pots), but won't be buying again, especially since I've tried Vanishing Cream and I adore that one. For reference, I have combination skin that tends to veer on the oily side (especially during the summer) and is sensitive; for cleansing, toning and moisturizing purposes, I use a mix of Simple, Cetaphil and LUSH.

This is my first Lush moisturizer and for the moment I really like it. I have combination skin, dry on cheeks and slightly oily on Tzone in winter, normal and oily in summer. As it's getting a lot warmer now spring is here, my Clinique Moisture on-call was a little too rich, and I've been exploring lush skin care in the last few weeks. I still use the clinique 3-step system, but I now have added Imperialis and Dark angels scrub. I'm impressed. It's catered towards normal or combination skin, it's a liquidy pink cream, with a strong flowery smell, as it's made with loads of different flowers. It's light but has a good moisturizing quality to it, I feel my skin is soft and balanced,no extra oily or greasy feeling. You just need a small amount so even though the quantity isn't enormous (45 gr) I feel it will last a good while. I paid 17 euros, 23 euros cheaper than clinique. I'm trying to finish clinique so that I can try the rest of the lush skin care products. Still love the clinique, but on my student budget, it is more expensive than i can safely bear.
I would recommend this to people who want a good simple moisturizer for normal to combination skin

I tried this after finding celestial is too heavy and greasy for a day time winter moisturizer for me..at first, i started to break out but it went away after a couple of weeks or so. it feels very light and moisturizes very well on your face, does not leave you feeling greasy, at first. the smell reminds me of herbal japanese sweet tea, and the substance is somewhat liquidy. it does a good job of mositurizing, however nothing amazing. a few hrs into the day i find myself having to wipe the shine off my face with the oil sheets. one day i left for work without using it, and at first my cheeks were a little tight, but the feeling went away and i went a whole day without feeling greasy. i am not fond the of container because no matter how careful you are product gets on the sides of the jar and starts to crust. i wish it came in a pump bottle. i think this is a good moistuizer but just not for me. i will continue to use it for the winter and just deal with shine.

it does nothing amazing for me so i would not repurchase.

I got this in a sample size and only used it twice... I didn't like this for by face at all! It made my face so greasy and I hated the smell of it. It might suit people with a different skin type to mine but for me it was a no go.

When I was about 16 my skin was much oilier than it is now (typical teenage skin) and I could use this and it was great! Now I need more moist though and this one is not enough for my dry skin. But I really like this one! It smells like the bouncy "slime" you played with when you where little which many seem to have a problem with, but I love it.

I use this as my morning moisturizer. I have found that its best used sparingly as it can be a bit greasy. It has been good to my normal/combo skin. My face feels moisturized throughout the entire day and it doesn't feel tight after I put it on, but I do use a thicker cream at night.

i'm on the wall with this product, so for now i'm going to put "no" i wouldn't repurchase this product .. my biggest gripe with this is that if you use too much, it does damage to your face. i haven't broken out .. YET. but it has made me a tad bit greasy. so i figured i used too much. to fix the problem, i applied it as my face was damp and not dry, and it worked much better since i used less and it absorbed better. when they say a little goes a long way, they mean it :) so don't do swipes here and there like you would your normal moisturizer cuz your face will be grease lightning after that. i noticed sometimes that my T-zone (mostly my nose) had a bit of "sweat" afterwards -- i was told that it was my skin "balancing" itself as the pores were cleaning and normally when your skin perspires, it means it's cleansing itself of impurities. so this sweating is a good thing. gross, but it's a good thing. to avoid it, just apply your moisturizer when it's damp so it sinks in and works better ... overall, i give it a 4 because i think i could find a moisturizer that works well for my skin (i actually HAVE found a moisturizer that works great with my skin) for much less ... and one lippie off for it's high price =T .. but 4 lippies for a good product still. =)

I really liked this at first..but after using it for a while, i realized my skin looked greasey after putting it on. seems ok, i don't mind it. doesn't do much for my acne. for 21$, i just stopped shopping at lush since i spend way too much for nothing. they're not better than other drugstore brands by claiming w.e they claim. there are some ingrediants in it that are bad like every other brand.

This is OK, but definitely not worth the price you pay. It's GREASY! I used this for nearly 6 months, but only ever in winter and my face was still like an oil slick at the end of it. It does smell nice at the beginning, but I found the smell deteriorated and the texture gets thicker. I also don't like being stingy with my moisturiser as all I have seen that do is lead to wrinkles but you have to be with this... it's disappointing. Does nothing, if anything breaks you out more. Unfortunately will not be buying again at any cost.

I use Imperialis each morning & night. I have used since end of April & just started using my 2nd pot a week ago. After cleansing my face & toning I apply this by dipping my finger lightly into the pot & dotting on my face. I do three small dollops on each cheek, three dollops on my forehead & one dollop on my chin & nose. Then I rub in lightly with a pitter pat motion rather than in circles. If you want to use less moisturizer but still get the hydration you need, spritz your face with toner once or twice & then apply. I have dry skin & oily tzone. This was my fave out of all the LUSH moisturizer samples I have tried. I tried all but 3, so I certainly did my experimenting. Imperialis is one of the cheaper ones too which makes me happy. It smells nice & needs a stir every once in a while due to settling of the oils I suppose. I dislike the pot that it comes in only because the product gets trapped where the lid meets the pot & gets gunky & turns dark green. I wipe it off with a tissue every so often, but it just comes back. Other than that gripe, I love it! It doesn't break me out, it gives me the perfect amount of hydration + keeps oiliness at a minimum. There is an expiration date - the sticker on the pot will tell you when it goes bad.
