I think this is the best mineral foundation of them all. I tried BE when it first came out. Excellent product but not for oily skin. After about an hour, it didn't have the flawless look that I like. Now, in fairness, their Prime Time primer is the best primer I've used and I would probably like it better now. BUT I like Aromaleigh because it's matte. I'm shiny enough and I don't need a foundation to make me shine. With the right cleansers, moisterizers, and primer, my face is absolutely flawless. I can wear any number of the colors as it blends very well. I tried Everyday minerals too...and Loreal and even the great Trish McEvoy's foundation...none compare. I'm actually going to try (just for the sake of comparison and because for absolutely no reason, I get bored with the same stuff, Alima and Lumiere but I'm perfectly happy with this one.

I LOVE this foundation. I thought I could not wear mineral make up because I had tried Bare essentials and it looked TERRIBLE on me. It accentuated every pore and made them look huge. Aromaleigh's price is great, there are more color samples to choose from, I found one that is exact. It stays on all day for me with a bit of porcelaine primer and I have no reaction from my sensitive skin. My skin does not break out or react and usually I have trouble. I love it!

01.10.08 - I can no longer give this company any rave reviews or support, so I've changed this review from 5 lippies down to 3, due to their poor customer service after-the-sale and chastisement of unhappy MUA customers. To see why, follow this link to the board discussions: http://makeupalley.com/m~70505710

I love mineral makeup and BE Bare Minerals was the first mineral makeup product line I tried. The only BE product I still use is the Mineral Veil because I have not found a better mattifying finishing powder in the mineral makeup wonderland. There are many reasons why I love Aromaleigh's Voilé Mineral Foundation Powder. First, I hate the shine of the bismuth oxychloride in BE and other lines. I'm not sensitive to it, but I don't like the shininess. Second, I find much, much better color matches and a cheaper price with Aromaleigh. Third, it can be used as an effective concealer as well as a foundation.
I like the fact that you can order samples inexpensively (and they do send bonus samples with each order), and I've found Aromaleigh's service to be top-notch over the two years that I have been ordering from them. I've tried many other mineral makeup lines, including Alima, but found Alima's colors to be limited and too yellow and their customer service slow and inaccurate. I also find Aromaleigh's texture to be superior to Alima's, too. It should be noted that Voile is the replacement for Pure Powder, i.e., they are one-in-the-same. Also, if you have any sensitivity or dryness using this foundation, try Glissade instead. Glissade is designed to counteract sensitivity and dryness. Like other reviewers have noted, mineral makeup takes some patience until you get used to it, and it helps to moisturize well, and let the moisturizer have a few minutes to sink in, before applying Voile.

I love Aromaleigh's blushes and rouges, too, which are very highly rated here on MUA. I just wish they made a finishing powder like BE Mineral Veil that contained the finely milled cornstarch and perhaps blend it with some finely milled rice powder, too. Aromaleigh is my favorite mineral makeup line, overall!

Today I applied it for the first time - the color was really great. But after several hour my whole face was covered with small pimples!!!
I have just washed it away and I can see how dry my skin became.
Awful - never buy again, are you kidding :)

ps. Side note : it took 2 weeks to get it after I ordered it on-line.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE aromaleigh! If I ever talk to someone who is considering Bare Minerals, I tell them to try this first. Unlike BE, I can get away with just the foundation w/out having to add a "mineral veil." BE's foundation makes my pores HUGE and emphasizes fine lines until I add the mineral veil (and even then it's not that fantastic). Not so with voile, which BTW is perfect for summer months or if you like lighter coverage. I've tried lots of other foundations but for some reason I keep coming back to aromaleigh. Plus I like the personalized handwritten "thank you" on every invoice sent out. Nice touch! UPDATE: I still LOVE^3 this foundation. It kept my skin looking nice during postpartum where I got no sleep and had horrible pasty skin in the middle of August. Also, they have weekly specials (you have to keep checking) so I've been able to stock up when it goes on sale.

I've been using Aromaliegh Voile for about 6 months now and my face has completely cleared up. I love this foundation; the 1YL is the perfect yellowish shade for my pale olive skin and it feels so good and healthy. It actually helps prevent breakouts for me, and now that my skin is clear, a sheer dusting with a kabuki brush is all I need to use. Great value too; the pot will last a long time and won't go bad because it's pure minerals with no stabilizers. Love it!

This is an acceptable product, but I believe I'll keep looking for something better. Frankly, L"oreal Bare Naturale looks at least as good, if not better, despite the talc and extra ingredients. The real turnoff is that the amount of product is listed in fluid ounces, which seems odd in a dry powder. The conversion is also listed (0.75 ounces net volume, or 8 grams), but I overlooked it and felt both stupid and gullible when I received my little pots of powder, packaged in extremely cheap plastic containers with defective threads so that the tops don't screw back on snugly. With a regular price of $15.75, I would consider this to be only an average value (although I did get mine on sale).

I'll continue to use this because it healed my skin and doesn't make me itch. But whats with the little spots of color that streak when I apply. No other mineral makeup had done that. They need a better micronizer. The packaging cracked along the threads. I thought this was a no-name brand but apparently lots of MUAers like it. Any bit of skin dryness is amplified, I have to keep a mister handy to keep my face from flaking off. Oy vay.

I love this stuff. Wearing for over two years. I mix 2N with a spoonful of 3N and a dash of coquille vert (green) and Voile. Perfect. Gives a matte, translucent, light to medium coverage. Helps heal my skin, and does not slide off my oily face. Great selection of colors, samples, brushes and customer service has been good to me, so far, knock on wood. Also love their eyeshadows.

This is a great product. I have acne scars, and the coverage is not heavy. It is a little light on the coverage for me. But, it does not break me out and is all natural. I use 2Y/2L, and it blends nicely with my skin.

The powder sometimes sits in the fine lines, so I use my fingers to lightly tap the powder into place around my eyes after I have applied it.

Plus, it is a small, woman-owned business, and the customer service is excellent. I really love the price.

I've been disappointed with BE (limited color range; looks greasy and makes me itch, especially when I perspire) and JI (better colors but also makes me itch), so I was happy to find an MMU without bismuth oxychloride. I've been using 2L (similar color to JI Satin) but recently got a sample of 2YL (like JI Warm Silk), which may be better for me as I get paler in the winter. I use a little Larenim Mineral Silk in light/medium on top, then spritz with mineral water, and the result is a smooth finish with less oil breakthrough during the day than I get with liquid foundation, plus my face feels calmer and cooler. I've ordered a lot of samples from Aromaleigh and find they last a long time--and the foundation colors that were too light make good undereye concealers.

I use 3y.... and the color is a perfect match for my yellow undertoned skin.... you have no idea how hard it has been to find a foundation to match my skin color.... but yet here it is right in front of me.... after all these years of searching. Yipeeee! :) The only other foundation that has come close has been Loreal's HIP liquid makeup (in sand). I finally gave up on liquid foundation a few months ago thanks to my EXTREMLY oily skin. And I mean oliy.... you know that "dewy" look women pay a fortune to obtain, I get that for free about 20 minutes after I've washed my face. LOL Anyways thanks to the oily mess no foundation has ever stayed put. Some of this mineral foundation comes off too, but it's nothing compared to what came off my face with the liquid foundation. If you want to freshen up you just brush some more on and it doesn't look cakey.... you can't do that with liquid. Another plus for me is that I get no more "cosmetic acne". With the oil my face produces, it doesn't matter if I put something on my face that's non-comedonic ...the oil will mix with it and just create an even greasier pore clogging mess. I can't even wear leave-on acne medication, because it too will help to give me more acne.Yeah my life has been just peachy. LOL With this foundation I don't have that problem.... the only thing going on my face are some minerals. I highly recommend this foundation for those of you with very oily skin, and/or live in a humid city like I do. They have samples you can order, it can't hurt to try it.

Definitely a quality product. Great customer service and a great price too. My advice to those who are considering buying--don't freak out over the seemingly dozens upon dozens of color choices. Chances are, there isn't one and only one color that will work for you. I realize choice is good, but picking a shade almost became stressful to me--and makeup is supposed to be purely fun, lol! So just try a couple of samples and narrow it down.

I am mixed asian/caucasian with medium skin color and yellow undertones. I bought this powder in 3W and it is a nice match. I could probably have also gone with 3N shade. I got a little darker tan and the shade still blends in wonderfully. It is great over a little concealer. I LOVE that it is Matte and not at all shiny like BE. It feels nice and light over my skin too. I would say coverage is light to medium. That is because I only use it with a brush. If you use a sponge, coverage can be built up. My issue is I feel it would be to cakey because I suck at blending. LOL - would definately buy again.

I really liked the large number of very fair colors Aromaleigh offers. I often have trouble finding foundation that is pale enough. Aromaleigh had two colors that worked very well (and they weren't even the palest!). I ended up buying a full size of the 1CL. I like the coverage this gives -- it makes me look finished and even without looking "made up."

Excellent stuff. I've been using this for probably about a year and it's HG for me. Light coverage which is perfect for me. Doesn't clog my pores and looks natural. Not too dewy nor to matte. Excellent stuff!!

Okay, I used to have issues applying mmu but now I think I've got it down. It just takes a little patience, the right tools, and making sure your skin is well moisturized. Make sure your moisturizer REALLY sinks in, too. I usually wait at least an hour.

First off, Voile is sheerish textured powder that can be built up to cover everything from active acne to old scars. Trust me, I do it every day. Although the acne has gotten a LOT better since using this.

If you're like me and you're not into the "matte" look, I highly recommend their illuminating powder as well. I mix this into my Voile combo of 80% alabaster, %5 1Y and then %15 illuminator. This creates a lovely, subtle, healthy glow to the skin and makes the application smooth and easy. I use their flocked sponge, brushes irritate my skin. Since discovering this mix I LOVE how it looks, natural and smooth.

If you're trying to cover up marks or blemishe use a small concealer brush or paintbrush (they're cheaper and made of the same materials) in a size and shape you like to build and layer over the mark. Don't expect to cover up bright red marks without some patience. You can also try blending your Voile with their pure powder concealer, but I find that to be too heavy. Voile will do it, you just need to take your time.

Also, I mentioned this in another review...there seem to be some complaints about AL customer service. I've been ordering from them off and on for 2 years and have never had anything but helpful advice, prompt service, and fast delivery. Anyone can have a bad experience and I'm not claiming there haven't been legit instances...but sometimes neg comments are left when people don't read or misunderstand company policy. That's not the companies fault..their site is exceptionally helpful and chock full of info on products, techniques, everything. You just need to read it. Plus they have the most generous sampling policy I have ever seen, you can try and try until you find what works for you. Hope that helps!

I used to use BE and loved the coverage and 'glow' it gave me. The only problem was that the 'glow' turned into a silverish tint on my face after a couple of hours. I used fairly light 1.2 which seemed to be a perfect match on my skin some days and a tadd bit too dark/orange on other days. I decided to try Aromaleigh because I heard of it's great color selection and it was great for sensitive skin. After ordering 5 samples I was really pleased with the colors. I found that one was a very close match and I could find a perfect match by mixing two others. The texture was a bit drier than BE and since it is completely matte, made my skin look a little dull. I figured that was better than the silverish hue I was getting from BE though, so I ordered two full size jars to mix together. Within a couple of weeks my face completely broke out, even in places where I usually don't, such as on my nose. The coverage of this is very poor compared to BE and when you try to build coverage, it just makes you look chalky and dries your skin out. Sadly, I am back to BE untill I discover something different. Including shipping, that was $40 down the drain.
:(

I love AL makeup and after using it I would NEVER go back to the mainstream cosmetics again! I have been wearing this since it came out. Before that I was wearing the AL Pure Pouder that this product replaced. I have been wearing AL makeup since 2002. I have tried other MMU, but AL is my most trusted and favorite. I find it covers from light to med. I usually use a kabukki brush and for those days I need more coverage I just keep adding until I get the coverage I need!

I've been using Voile since last December. I was tired of using liquid foundation that had tons of ingredients in it and I liked the concept of putting on makeup that let your skin breath and didn't clog pores. This is the only mineral makeup I have tried because after doing research, it seemed like the best choice. Voile offers sheer to medium coverage. I have tried all kinds of application methods. I used a flocked sponge but didn't really like how it looked on my skin but this gave the best coverage. Applied with a kabuki, this offers only sheer to light coverage. It does a very poor job at covering red marks left from acne. This would receive 1 lippie from me if it was a regular drugstore powder but I gave it 3 lippies because it is a mineral makeup and my skin has healed from using this. This doesn't contain any healing properties but I think since it lets skin breath and doesn't clog pores that my skin has gotten better than it would using regular makeup. Shipping is a bit costly. I am still using my samples because they give you a lot. I use 3Y with a tad bit of 2Y added to it. I ordered 5 samples though because it is hard to tell what the colors look like from their website.
