This is such a beautiful color when swatched on the finger. Its a gold shimmer with green undertones. When applied to the crease with Mac's eye primer I was disappointed to find it looks brown without any green at all.
I was looking for a decent green for my crease and was going to buy Greensmoke but was persuaded to buy S.O by the sales associate.
I will keep this color and try it on my lid without a primer and see how that works but I would not buy this again.

I use this over MAC Paint Pot in Painterly a light nude for primer, and sometimes add Carbon eyeshadow for a smoky, yet neutral look. I found this shadow quite pigmented, blendable and if you use a primer it's got decent wear time. It's also impressive how it manages to be stunning yet not overwhelming.

I am quite pale NW15, for reference and found both the gold and olive tone to be very flattering. Especially against green or hazel eyes! Would repurchase.

Sumptuous Olive - the name is so fitting! It's a beautiful olive colour with a lovely sheen that I was drawn to immediately. Before even putting it on, I knew this was a colour that would really complement my eyes. I have brown eyes with slight hints of green. When I wear this eyeshadow, whether it's alone or mixed with a gold colour or a taupe colour, it really makes the green in my eyes pop! MAC eyeshadows are great quality, they blend so smoothly and the pigmentation is exquisite. This is one of my favourite eyeshadows and I reach for it frequently.

Apparently the most flattering green for my warm NC 43 skintone! I went ahead and decided to experiment with my very first green e/s...and it turned out to be really good! Being veluxe pearl, its got a lovely sheen to it. Great for a night out...has great staying power and pigmentation. Ladies of colour, try this out! :)

This is a beautiful color...this was one of my first MAC purchases. this shadow is not a typical "green". It has a slight sheen that gives it dimension..has an antique-bronzy green feel to it...it's stunning, pure and simple...applies wonderfully

I think this is a very beautiful color for warm skin tones. I have cool skin tone (NW20) and made terrible e/s choices when I thought undertones was not important. Now, I know how important undertones are. Most of the youtube makeup gurus have warm skin tone and put S.O on their must have lists. Now,on youtube, I only follow people that has the same skin color with me. I really don't want to know how wonderful a makeup product is if it is not going to look good on me. This looks so yellow on my pale skin, definitely not flattering. Don't listen to that gurus, listen me (lol) if you have NW skin try it at Mac before purchasing.

Unless you really plan on packing on this color it really does not seem to look like the color in the pan. Sheered out it looked TERRIBLE on me and had a kind of blotchy, chunky shimmery texture that did not seemed to be finely milled enough. I personally hated this color (it reflected a weird orange gold on me), but it may be more tolerable packed on. Like another reviewer said, another fail from MAC and this one is going back to the store :(

Sumptuous Olive is a unique eyeshadow, a gorgeous olive gold shade with a warm brown undertone. I wear this all over the lid with Brun or Carbon in the crease. It gives a 90's, almost grunge look, but I personally love it for that reason!

This is a great brown with green pearl. The green in this shadow is a light green and appears gold on the lid. It is a perfect autumnal colour and will especially suit those with red hair.

What a perfect eye shadow colour for autumn! Sumptuous Olive is pretty much what the name suggests....a rich, bronzey dark green with the beautiful sheen that is typical of MAC's Veluxe Pearl formulation. I've had S.O. for a couple of years now and while I'm generally rather timid about wearing green eye shadow, this colour is so wearable because it is so toned down with an almost brown-ish cast to it. Lovely as a crease colour with something like All That Glitters or Naked Lunch on the lid but it's equally wearable as an all over lid colour, either as a wash or applied more heavily and blended out with a neutral shade like Omega. Totally appropriate for work - I never feel self-conscious when I'm wearing it (and as much as I LOVE some of the other green and teal shadows I have, I can't say the same for them and reserve them almost solely for evening/weekend use). For reference, I'm NW20 with dark brown eyes and Sumptuous Olive is totally flattering with my cooler skin tones and it makes brown eyes really sparkle! So don't believe those who say this doesn't work with cool skin tones - they don't get much cooler than I am and this looks good on me, so judge for yourself by trying it in-store.

Because I have this in the pro-pan, I gave it a "5" for packaging.

Love, love, love it!!!!!!

I have bright green eyes and I normally stick to browns, golds, purples etc. This is the only green colour I have ever found that enhances my own green eyes. It has a really pretty golden shimmer to it.

I'm yet to find a MAC eyeshadow that isn't impressively pigmented, or have long staying power... This one does not disappoint!

Sumptuous Olive is amazing!! The color payoff is consistent and it's a really beautiful green/gold color. It has a tint of brown in it which makes it sooooo blendable for a natural look. I highly recommend anyone in buying this color. Absolutely fantastic!!! It's hard to get a green colored eyeshadow that doesn't make you look like Frankenstein..

This eyeshadow was absolutely stunning on my NC30 skin/brown eyes but I couldn't get it to last longer than 2 hours :-( Tried UDPP, soft ocre PP, Lancome's green cream eyeshadows - no luck. If you can get it to stay on and you have brown eyes, I would highly recommend this eyeshadow (it's a khaki olive brown and it looks great on its own on the lid - if you use it as a crease colour you'll see that the brown undertone comes out moreso than the green).

this is a nice color. i dont really think the name matches it though..on me, it is not so much olive, as gold with an olive hint. i have been meaning to try this color on for years now..i went into mac and said i need something i can put all over my lid, is quick and easy to apply, the makeup artist suggested this color and i was pleased with it because it was different than my regular gold i use and it looked good. it is easy to apply,is a pretty color, and meets my expectations!

Sumptous Olive was my first foray into the khaki green family. These types of brown greens are great because they are suble but not boring or too bright for work. It has a slight shimmer but is not overbearing. It's a great lid shade for me and shows up vibrant with little effort/manipulation. It's a great staple for everyday.

this color is insanely gorgeous, but unfortunately it is irritating my eyes :( I am so sad!!! the texture is incredible and I love the brown/green/gold hologram effect it has. I am going to continue to wear this even though it bugs me. so weird, no eyeshadow no matter how cheap ever bothered me before. I don't have sensitive skin at all either! soo sad :( I hope all the veluxe pearls don't bother me like this one.

Edit*** I had to return this because I can't have my eyes irritated for beauty reasons :(

Sumptuous Olive is a pearly golden-y olive shade. I've got olive skin with strong cool undertones and dark brown eyes, and when I use this shadow it instantly brightens my skin and makes my eyes pop. For day, I'll just use it as a wash all over my eyes. For a stronger look, I'll blend a darker shade into my outer-V. Either way, it looks stunning. I find that it quite buttery and applies evenly.

I would suggest, however, that people try this on first as it obviously will not suit all skin tones.

I don't think I will need to re-purchase this product because it will take me forever to hit the pan. Anyway I love this color, very unique. Green is my favorite - all kinds of green... LOVE! So I recommend you girls to try it, maybe buy the pro-pan instead of the pot, save some $$$. Good luck :-)

LOVE!!! I don't usually wear colors on my eyelids-mostly browns, taupes, and nudes, but I have always thought Sumptuous Olive looked beautiful in the pan, so I decided to try it, and I LOVE IT! So far I have been wearing it in my crease with Patina all over my lid and a little Shroom in my tear duct. Then I either don't line my lid at all, or I line with a black liquid liner. This eyeshadow color has definitely been described before, so the only thing I can add is that somehow it makes my already green eyes, even greener. I think this color is a dream to apply with no fall-out and is really subtle and lovely on my NC35 skin. I would definitely repurchase, and I'm excited to try it with the other colors in my collection, but right now I'm loving it with Patina!!
