I went to this cleanser after much toying around with other cleansers. I used it before as a teen, but I find myself wanting to simplify my routine and avoid hype. I've been using this cleanser for about 6 months. Sometimes, I mix a tad of baking soda with it for a scrub. Two months ago I purchased the Clarisonic Mia. I am pretty sensitive, but get micro congestion in the T-zone. This combination with the Purpose Cleansing Wash and the Clairsonic Mia has greatly cleared up my skin. I find it a bit drying for winter time in Michigan, but I don't want to risk any change. I'd rather add a hydrating serum. I only wish is was more particular about the preservative Quanternium 15 - which is a formaldehyde releaser. I have tried the head-to-toe baby wash, too... while the ingredients are very close, it is far more watery and doesn't provide the savings one might think.
I love the smell.

Yay! Great product. Cheap, easy to find, and it doesn’t dry out or break out my skin. This is an uber simple, no-frills product, which is perfect for me.

This cleanser did not leave my skin dried out and rinsed away all the dirt and oil on my skin as it claimed. Perfect for oily/combo skin. The ph is balanced so it is gentle for the skin. Although the ingredients aren't natural, they don't bother me. Even though it contains sodium laureth sulfate, it didn't dry out my skin at all.^^ Buy it at walmart for a cheaper price.

I don't have particularly sensitve skin. For me this product cleanses my skin very effectively, doesn't leave it dry, isn't overly perfumed and the price is good. It is a go-to product for me.

I bought this because it says " as gentle as water" .
Well I have sensitive skin and was using Cetaphil face wash and it was drying my skin a bit. Purpose cleans after make up removing the dirty but dries my skin. Again, my skin is sensitive....I like the clean smell of it.

I actually prefer this cleanser over Philosophy's Purity Made Simple, and for a fraction of the price! :D This does a good job at removing my makeup, and it doesn't sting my eyes. It leaves my skin feeling clean and not dry or tight. It hasn't made me break out, which is great. There isn't any strong scent either, just smells clean. For reference, I have combo/acne-prone skin.

I've tried this cleanser a few times over the years. It does remove makeup and get skin clean, but it's too thick, highly scented, leaves a film, and irritated my skin. After a few uses it made my skin feel too dry as well. Not good for sensitive skin at all. Skip this for sure.

I'm on my second bottle of this stuff. And while I don't hate it, I am certainly not in love with it.
PROS:
- No strong perfumes
- It's cheap enough that I don't feel guilty for using more than I probably need
- Doesn't break me out
CONS:
- Leaves a weird film on my face, but can still be drying
- I'm not a fan of the packaging... it's not really good for traveling, and be aware if it's knocked over. It is a pain to clean up!
For me, it's just "meh". But since it doesn't break me out, I'll keep using it until I find something better.

Yesss...yes...YESSS! I felt like that lady in the shampoo commercial when I used this.
Now that I've tried this I will never go back to Cetaphil cleanser again. This doesn't do any harm to my skin and/or active pimples, and it takes off my makeup! I was super impressed. This cleanser is amazing.
I hearby as an acne sufferer recommend this to all my fellow acne sufferers as well!
I'm currently on accutane and was told by many derms CETAPHIL was the brand to use.
But if you are like me, and your skin isn't responding well to cetaphil, listen to your skin not the derms.=)

Although I'm a sucker for new or low-priced cleansers, I've been returning to this staple for a long time now. I especially appreciate the lack of heavy fragrance, which I've come across in a number of cleansers.

I have sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. Many products leave my skin irritated or feeling tight. However, after using Purpose cleanser, my skin felt fresh and soft. It was not tight and did not cause any further breakouts.

I have sensitive combo skin that sometimes gets very irritated and red with dry patches and/or breakouts. This is my trusty backup cleanser for when my skin is annoyed and irritated. It doesn't remove my makeup very well but is a great sensitive cleanser for when I need something that is as gentle as water, but better.

This is just the best for the price, hands down. After buying a million cleansers my whole life, trying to decide if i'm oily, dry or combo skin, this has been the kindest and worked the best. It works well to remove makeup, but doesn't harshly strip your face from natural oils. After a long span of clear skin (including pregnancy and the year after) my skin broke out like crazy when I stopped nursing. I tried a "Sensitive acne line" and my face dried out horribly. I went back to my trusty purpose cleanser and my skin is starting calm down. I think the small bottle is around 4 bucks, and lasts for quite a while. Not fancy, no frills, just gentle and works well. And no drying soaps added. love!

I like that this is perfect with my Clarisonic Mia. It really cleans my skin without drying it out. Also doesn't leave a residue or have an overpowering scent. I have oily skin so gel cleansers work best for me and this hits all the points wit me.The only con is, if I were to travel then I would have to transfer the product to another bottle as the pump would leak. Other than that, great product at a great price especially when it is on sale.

i love this thing! it is very gentle. does not break me out. i've been using it for about 3yrs now. cleans my skin really well. if you have heavy makeup you may need to wipes or pads to remove the makeup and use this last for a clean finish.

Great cleanser but not perfect, but then again it's tough to get 5 stars out of me. This cleanser though I have to say has not caused me to break out or over irritated my skin.I do feel like I need to wash at least twice to be completely clean, and the second time I let the suds sit on my face for a few moments. Definitely give this one a try, as for I wouldn't recommend many others.

I like this. I think its a really good basic, gentle face wash for everyday, and i use this sometimes in the morning(i switch between this and my Clean & Clear morning face wash). I dont really know if it helps with dry skin, because i follow up immediately with my Clinique #2 toner and DDMG. I LOVE the scent, it reminds me of baby shampoo(: My mom initially bought this, but gave it to me because of her extremely oily skin. This is really great for my combination-dry, slightly sensitive skin, but im not really sure that i would repurchase since this is the EXACT same thing as the C&C foaming face wash sensitive skin. Same ingredients, same order, everything. C&C is cheaper, too. this i think is $6, and the C&C is around $3.
EDIT 9/72-Almost done with the bottle, and im pretty sure ill repurchase. Something about it makes me want to use it over again, i think because of the scent, and consistency, and gentleness. I might buy the johnsons head to toe baby wash, i heard its a great dupe for this. bumping it up to a 5(:

Very basic cleanser. Very thick. I don't wear foundation... i only wear blush and sunscreen, and it doesn't remove them very well. I always get blush residue on my cotton round when I swipe over with a toner. This cleanser may be more suitable to use in the morning when you have no makeup to remove. But it's just too thick for my liking for morning use. It doesn't dry out my skin. It doesn't improve my skin nor it worsen it. Wouldn't buy again.

This is a functional, no-frills facial cleanser. I personally found it a bit drying on my combination/oily (summer), combination/dry (winter) skin. It leaves my face feeling tight, with a drying feeling, right after I wash my face.
Sunscreen removal: It gets rid of sunscreen well, and I reserve it for summer days when I am particularly oily.
Makeup removal: I find that it doesn't quite remove a heavy face of make-up, especially when I use a silicone-based primer by itself. A second washing is required,
Tip: I have finally used up the bottle, and I find that it works well as a supplemental cleanser, when one of my other facial washes leave behind traces of makeup.
Scent: This has a plastic, chemical scent. It does not smell altogether natural.
Packaging: I leave this in my bathroom shelf, and I have noticed that the rim of the pump allows air to pass through. Not leak-proof, and the product has slightly thickened due to evaporation.
I do like the fact that it's a rectangular bottle, which makes for effective storage.
Price: The cost has doubled since I purchased the bottle years ago (Currently $10.99 at the local pharmacy.)
Summary: I don't believe that I will repurchase this product. It is functional, and does the job well. I have a feeling that this product is better suited for the teenage/early 20's set. As it is, it is a bit too drying for my early 30's Normal/Combination skin.
