Boucheron fragrances are my absolute favorites. They are so well-blended. This is a floral semi-oriental. It is soapy orange blossom vanilla sandalwood amber blend on my skin. Top notes are tangerine, apricot, and bitter orange. Middle notes are ylang ylang, tuberose, jasmine and narcissus. Base notes are tonka bean, sandalwood, vanilla, amber. This scent can easily become overpowering, so a light hand is needed.

I sprayed this on my wrists at the fragrance counters. Fast forward a mere two minutes. The spots where I sprayed turned beet red! WTF?! This has never happened with any other fragrance before! Then the spots started to burn; I couldn't get to a sink fast enough! I love the scent, but obviously it's not for me!

i almost ordered this unsniffed because the notes sounded like something i'd just love. i had an opportunity to test it recently and found that while it's not bad, it's not me, either. too many other orientals suit me better. the best part of boucheron to me was the straight amber dry down; it stayed true and didn't turn sour like some ambers do on me. other than that, i can live without it. pretty bottle, though.

It took til my mid-50s to grow into Boucheron. Reminds me of
a cross between 24 Faubourg, VS Rapture, and Spellbound - soapy
orange blossom, tuberose, ambery on the dressy, rich, sexy side.

I'm not sure about this one. It is a sophisticated, elegant, classy oriental that doesn't resemble anything else to me. This is unique in my perfume collection. It smells feminine and is in fact the only real 'perfumescent' I can think of wearing, because of the muted incense smell. Others stick to Chanel no 5, but this is MY version of it. (I don't like Chanel no 5, it's too much of a perfume)
In my early twenties it was one of my signature scents. Later I found it oldfashioned and too perfumey and grown-up, strangely. I recently found my original bottle, unchanged and as fresh as ever and still a mysterious blend of all the notes without ever letting one note stand out. This is a true perfume-scent, as if it was created in 1888 and not 1988. After reading the reviews, I'll try wearing it again just to se if I get any reactions and learn to like it again. I don't think there are many women wearing it today.
UPDATE 12.10.08:
Finally it's starting to like me again - perfect for fall, comforting, caramelly but not too strong or sweet. That took some years....

Tested this scent at a department store today. The sales clerks were trying to show me all the newest scents for the holidays. My instincts told me to seek out something elegant and classic, but not well known to the masses. Boucheron was it!

Sophisticated, elegant, complex, timeless, and classic. Long lasting power so spray LIGHTLY. Drydown stays true to its original notes and lingers around you all day long. This is an appropriate fragrance for formal occasions in fall/winter (but I do wear it to the office too!) Don't wear this if you are wearing jeans and T-shirt. If you like fruity, light, and simple scent, stay away - Boucheron is not for you. I will definitely repurchase this fragrance.

Warning!!! Try this before you buy it. I thought I would like this as it wore on, but I was wrong. I sprayed a small amount on a card and then wiped some of the residue on my hand. It's very strong which I guess wouldn't be a bad thing if you liked the fragrance. It seems to grow and grow in strength. It's a very mature fragrance (even for a 40-something woman). Definitely gets noticed. I cannot see wearing this in an office unless you wanted to make some enemies and/or get talked about.

Also, I thought the bottle looked a little cheap with its gold band and blue cap. Didn't feel good in the hand either.

I read the Navy cologne that you can buy at Walgreen's smells like Boucheron. I tried that too and although they're similar, I think the Boucheron is a lot more strong and old smelling.

I couldn't wait to wash my hand after trying both.

I guess I’m just not cut out for Boucheron, I couldn’t take this for even 10 minutes...I’ve never been impatient with a perfume in my life. I can’t even write a description. I’m glad I only bought a mini, which is going up for swap.

I absolutely can not believe that I am loving it! I must admit, I do have a lot of preconceived notions. Boucheron always seemed like a fragrance of a mature woman, one my grandmother would wear. However, in my eternal pursuit of a signature fragrance (and a few suggestions from these wonderful forums) I have tried this on today. Originally a "flower girl", I have grown to like the spice of orientals. However, I always stayed away from orientals, as they seemed heavy, heady (many bad co-worker memories), overly sweet, or overly spicy, just tooo much. When I sprayed Boucheron on, I was almost ready to dismiss it entirely as it seemed rather heavy. But...about 20 minutes later...I was surprised to see how beautifully it developed. Yes, it was a little sweet, but not gagging. It had a bit of spice, but it didn't feel like a middleastern market or an incense. It was warm, inviting, yet intriguing. It was really a scent of a woman...not a girl. It was exactly the scent that I was looking for all this time: a scent of a confident woman who knows who she is...she doesn't have to be loud, she doesn't have to prove herself to anyone, she simply knows how to enjoy life.

I totally agree with Mommysteph, Goddes Dreams and Lovely No 5 below. This is delicious but also sophisticated. It starts out a bit more floral and then leaves a wonderful warm caramelly scent even at the end of the day. It is deep, complex and well-crafted. A classic.

No! This smells just like Victoria Jackson's fragrance (remember her, from infomercials for mediocre makeup?). Maybe because of that, this smells cheap to me. I wouldn't wear this anywhere for any reason. But to put it in perspective, it is not nearly as horrid as Alien. That stuff wins the prize. :-)

Boucheron is just pure class, elegance and romance! A totally sensuous scent; the scent of a woman! A woman who is fun, a woman who appreciates something special and enchanting... a woman who believes in the magic of her smile. A woman who is aware of her charms and takes great pleasure in all the delights of all her experiences... Boucheron is intoxicating and very feminine... warm and inviting... Just magical! Boucheron is so worthy of all those special occasions; memorable and important moments in ones life...

I lived in France when this came out. Lots of stylish women wore it then and you could smell it everywhere. So delicious, so classic, so serene... and so not working on my skin, alas. Fast forward several years, my dear friend lent me her mini of EdP for me to wear, since I'd gone on and on about how lovely Boucheron was. Well, it was still lovely in the bottle, but on me it turned into caramel and dry wood after twenty minutes of wear. Not good. Fast forward yet some more: I received a sample of this in EdP. Lo and behold – it works! It works! Don't know what happened, but suddenly Boucheron smells exactly like I remember it on those lovely French ladies. Semi-oriental without being heavy or overly sweet, a beautiful, airy floral with soft vanilla. Classic, stylish, serene and serious. Wow.

Ive been wearing this since i was about 17. I sorta stopped wearing it for a long time (7 or so years) while i was mostly wearing chanel allure. I just started to wear this again and im sorry i stopped wearing it. This is such a gorgeous scent. I feel so sexy when wearing it and i get compliments all the time (even from strangers). This is strong scent, very potent, so be careful how much you apply. But the good thing about that is you will still get wifts at the end of a long day. :)

If I were allowed just two fragrances (an idea I've come to realize is preposterous!), I would choose Chopard's Mira Bai for my smiley-face fragrance and Boucheron for my serious scent. Boucheron is in the heavyweight class occupied by Chanel's Coco and Hermès' 24 Faubourg, but better than either of these in my opinion. Often, when I'm preparing for sleep, I'll share a drop (it is potent, remember) on the index knuckle of both hands, then surround my pillow with my arms and plant a hand right under my nose. The aroma connotes night and femininity and strength--a beautifully balanced, classy perfume.

Nice, complex floral. Rich, classy, elegant. But not my style. Too sweet. I like Sung EDT, which is also a rich floral but has a nice grounded note in it that keeps it from being purely sweet.
